“With Ronaldo leaving, we are looking for a striker and if Gilardino goes too then we will need two,” Galliani confirmed.
“I will be talking to Fiorentina director Sandro Mencucci today about Gilardino. But Didier Drogba and Samuel Eto’o are high quality targets and so very expensive.
“Marco Borriello? If he came to Milan I don’t think that he would move again.
“He wants to be a main player? I’m not the Coach – if he arrived he would be one of six strikers, but we will see when his co-ownership runs out on June 25.”
After a dismal season for Nelson Dida, Milan are also on the look out for a new custodian, but they need to make space by selling third-choice Christian Abbiati.
“For the moment Abbiati looks like he doesn’t want to go to Palermo,” Galliani sighed.
“We are watching Hugo Lloris, but if Abbiati stays then our ‘keepers will be Dida, Abbiati and Zeljko Kalac. If he leaves, we will bring in another.”
Galliani closed with an update on his attempts to bring former Milan hero Andriy Shevchenko back to San Siro.
“We are constantly talking to Chelsea and Sheva but it also depends on them,” he said.
“If they compromise on certain conditions then they know that we will sign him, but otherwise we won’t.”

I'm sorry, was Galliani expecting teams to just give away their players at rock bottom prices; oh well, it looks like another summer of Milan unwilling to spend the money needed to compete with merda and Juve.
Can't they just split the difference on Zambro and get the deal done, already.Looks like Ronaldo's gone and Dida's staying, but I don't really see Dida spending another season on the bench, unless he's really wants to finish his career at Milan.

My problem is how we're spending that limited resource. We need to get rid of players who are earning a salary but aren't contributing to our cause - Emerson and Dida for example. Sitting on the bench aren't helping their careers either. And more importantly, we need to spend our money on prospects rather than older players who will only give us a couple of years.
Example:
Spend 10mil Euros on Zambrotta. 3 years later, we need to spend another 10mil Euros because Zambro is now too old. Add the medical expenses and the money lost if we get kicked out of tournaments/fail to win crucial games in the league because Zambro is injured.
Spend 15mil Euros on Vargas. Will give us 10 of his best years. Add the medical expenses for unexpected injuries.
Compare the money spent in the two cases. It shouldn't be hard. If a 2nd year econ student can see this, then there's no excuse for the President of one of the biggest clubs in the world.The way the money is spent, rather than how much is spent, is the central issue here. In this respect, we have to let go of some of our archaic mentalities and become more efficient.
I personally want to put my trust in the management...yes....even after the 2 bad mercatos. They've made mistakes, but they've also made genuine efforts to secure our future (Flamini, Gilardino, Bonera, Gourcuff, Pato, Albertazzi for the Primavera). All seemed like good deals at the time. Some have failed because of bad luck or reasons that we as fans have no ways of knowing. Others we still have to see. We also seem to be making an effort to improve our Primavera and starting to see some results. Darmian, Bruscagin and Paloschi are all starters for the Italian U19. Albertazzi is also called up at the tender age of 17.

It scares me, but I think you've hit the nail on the head. This will be exactly what Galliani will do. Why don't we go for Amelia? He's 25, on a relegated squad, and everyone already has good keepers besides us. But no. Galliani would rather go for Lloris and Gomez or Boruc. And yes, once again I will bitch over the barzagli thing. I still can't believe we wouldn't get this guy. We just let him go to fricking wolfsburg for christs sake.x__player said:
