We need a monster to battle with the Ferdinands, the Toures the Terrys and of course the Materazzis. Someone who is going to score at all cost. Milan is a class team no doubt but too many nice guys will finish fifth

i understand what san paolo was saying that we have done well so far in selling oli and gila for nearly £20mil and getting flamini and zambrotta in early, but galliani has clearly stated that we will only sign a new striker now, if we had different management they would have signed zambro and flamini, gone after a big-name striker and stil had time for a GK and a younger CB, i think eto'o will go inter so drogba looks the most realistic out of the mentioned names, he could be good but i feel if we make a big investment like galliani says we will do then it needs to be on someone who has plenty of good years ahead of him, im not saying for one minute drogba wont have another 3-4 good years but around 32-33 players physical attributes start to decline like pace, stamina etc so to make such a huge investment for us anyway the striker must be between the ages 20-27 imo.

Well Dru, in my opinion individual goals are when you're able to dribble past 3-4 players and then score, which I really don't see at him.
That was just my thoughts of how an individual goal should look. Maybe I'm wrong.

Look i dont think drogba is the guy for us. 1) he'll cost more than he's worth. 2) with mourinho at inter he'll want to go there 3) he's 30. I'd rather us get a striker who has atleast 5 years in him... that aside if i had to play 1 game today. I'd take drogba w/o a doubt. Drogba may not dribble through like kaka or ronaldinho, but there is no better striker with his back to goal. I also think everyone is underrating him on the break. He can keep up w/ pato and kaka on a counter easily.


I still say berbatov or huntelaar are our best options. Gomez sounds good too, but i havent seen enough of him to honestly give my opinion (same way i speak of berbatov anyway)

If you want to blame someone for us not signing a GK and CB then don't blame Galliani, blame Dida+Maldini. Dida is refusing to go so his big contract in addition to the fact it would not make sense to have two of him, Abbiati or Kalac in the stands every week is the reason we won't get another keeper. Its not economical or good for squad morale to have 4 quality(as in could be a definite 1st choice at a smaller club).

The CB issue is because Maldini is most likely staying another year. Since we rate Kaladze+Bonera as good and with reason we won't sign another good young CB just to sit in the stands week in week out. Same prinicple as GK because since he's still club captain Maldini will be expected to play whenever fit.

As San Paolo said we can only wait to see whether we do get a big name striker or not. If G fails to deliver then by all means, rant and bitch about our transfer campaign but at this point patience is a virtue. It's not as if any of our rivals expect Fiorentina have bought anyone for that matter or all the good players are off the market. Time will tell.

i agree 100%. We need some big cow up there like drogba/adebayor. Etoo is too much pato-like, fast but far from strong to battle defenders. He also wastes tons of chaces (i would say more than drogba, who can work on his own much more). In addition he got spoiled in last 2 seasonand became big-mouth hot headed jerk.
