Taking off Calabria was understandable but to mess with the CB pair was idiotic. We were finally having a duo that were getting along so well and we all know what has happened in the past when Alex has come on "to kill the game".

If Miha felt that he has to take Calabria off, it would have been wiser to sub in Poli. He has experience in the role, is a runner and can defend to a certain degree.

If it had to be Zapata as RB, then at least bring on someone who has some experience playing with Roma, Ely.

This was all on Miha. Can't blame the players, not even Alex. (Almost) everyone knows he is past i but he is just doing what he is told.

im not talking about being cool or joga bonito. The 4-4-2 made us play deeper and we found it nearly impossible to connect midfield with attack. bacca/ adriano barely touched the ball and it increased pressure on our defense, not the other way around.

I disagree completely. They were playing a crazy attacking 343, they gave up on defending. De Jong didn't know if he had to follow the side midfielder (which was playing right on the touchline) or a central midfielder to help Monto (which would have been his natural move). So our right side was extremely weak. Zapata constantly had two players right at him and Alex was way too slow to cover. Suicide.

The 442 gave us time. They stopped having free players and they couldn't double up on us anymore. We had an out ball (full back to side midfield) and we could push them back (the opposite of what you said happened). We only managed to get possession and move forward was when we switched to 442.

Right. Instead we needed an equal defensive liability (if that's what you are getting at) who offers little else.

moreless just making a joke.

i much prefer mexes over alex at any game at any point in either of their careers

confirmed:

miha said in his interview the calabria sub was tactical because there were lots of fouls and he wanted someone better in the air.

AH, sorry didn't mean to sound snarky.

But yea, Alex should have left this past transfer window. I hope we can come up with some kind of mutual termination or just let his contract ride out without playing him anymore.

Only thing he has to offer are the eternal wisdom he's acquired during his long tenure on this earth already.

im a huge bruno fernandes fanboy. very good player, can become great if he rounds his game off and starts imposing himself in midfield for 90 mins.

Poli rather than Zapata as RB any day of the week.

Poli is good as a sub, he's been quite good this season.

Shame he hasn't really been given a chance from the start, especially after a good pre-season and the form Honda is currently in.

Worst moment of this match was the Di Natale pass when it was 3-2 , I was sure it was a goal but the Udinese player didn't run for some reason and Lopez came out and got the ball.

Clearly this team is transitioning from the inzaghi era to the Mihajlovic era. And I'm extremely happy, bc the team is still winning when it is not at its best. Another game, another win despite a not so great performance. Good sign.

Take just the first half vs the second half. First half is what miha wants, and hopefully what we can look forward to as the season progresses. Second half, meh. Same old defensive errors and brainfarts that inzaghi couldn't cope with.

I'm fine with these games. If you believe that we have been slowly progressing game by game, than logic would suggest we'll be fine in some amount of time that nobody really knows. Good signs.

has anyone realized we wouldn't win any of the 3 matches we've won if it wasn't for jack's goals and assists?

MVP of the season thus far no doubt.

havent you heard?

bacca being quiet this game was entirely at the fault of balo!

:lol::lol::lol:

it kinda was, im not saying balo played bad i actually think he was great did all the things asked but when he dropped back bacca gets isolated and has 2 cbs all over him he needs space. I think adriano and bacca WITH balo as a cam will work. The way balo plays is a pure cam but with striker size, he can control the ball and keep hold of it but he likes to do it deep and create, bacca and adriano up top gives balo options to go to as opposed to bacca by himself getting bullied, honda didn't help at all tbh

Tough to really know where to begin with this one. Was such a crazy game from beginning to end that it's left me with a strange taste afterwards.

First half was a perfect away display from us. We were clinical, direct, kept punching and deserved all three goals in honesty. Balotelli with a moment of individual brilliant; Montolivo with a sublime pass for the second and a powerful header for the third.

We were switched on, made the right decisions, the midfield looked comfortable without exuding over confidence, and the defence had little to really do.

Where did it all go wrong? Well the substitution was a bit iffy. I'd have honestly gone for Ely over Alex. Bearing in mind we had a three goal lead, we could have used Ely's superior pace, although I can kind of see where Miha was coming from in bringing on an experienced defender who is good in the air.

The midfield went missing again and couldn't string two passes together. Bacca and Balo started feeding off scraps and dropping deeper. Honda was nowhere to be seen again. Montolivo became sloppy, De Jong was pretty absent too, only Bona looked like he'd ever seen a football in that second half.

We created our own problems by conceding a sloppy second. Thereau should never be allowed to get in a position to slide that across goal. Terrible defending.

At that point I was convinced we would concede a third, but for whatever reason it didn't happen. They can count their lucky stars tonight as on balance we could have justifiably come away with a point or less.

It's all about confidence though. Another win, make it 3 out of 5, and we move on to the next one!

Gotta love wins like this. A bit of luck, call it a fluke if you are a difficult person. But getting three points in such way will only make Milan better in all aspects.

You can't analyze the game without mentioning the major turning point, which was when Udinese took out a CB for a CF at halftime and we didn't respond. This messed everything up. What changed for us that stabilized the game again was when we blocked the wings by changing formation.

i really hated this celebration. this is just weak mentality. i can understand the celebration if we were 2-0 down and managed to win 3-2. but the opposite happened. well not exactly opposite but almost opposite.
