Not exactly sure why, but I guess it's 'cause G.M doesnt sound good like SAN SIRO. I was wondering why did they changed the name at all?
San Siro is just a perfect one!

San Siro is an area in Milano.
The real name is Guzzepe Miaza.

sorry mate :D you wanted to say giuseppe meazza

he has been one of the most italian important footballers + played for both inter + milan (much more for inter though), so the stadium was dedicated to him

nobody here calls it that way apart from journalists in official statements ... everybody refers to it as 'sansiro' (the reason has already been said); i can add that its slang nick is 'sansa'

Ok, I think i might have the answer.
Inter fans call it Giuseppe Meazza and Milan San Siro.
In 1979 it was renamed to Giuseppe Meazza to honor an Inter player of 1920s. However the AC Milan supporters stuck with name San Siro. Hope that was clear lol

uncorrect ... hardly anybody calls it meazza, a part from journalistic expressions :o ... we all normally refer to it as sansiro ... i'd say always ... it would sound weird otherwise, unless said jokingly on purpose ... but nobody feels that the name could refer to the diversity of supporting one or the other of the two clubs of my city
and anyway meazza has played with milan too (and that's the reason why the stadium was dedicating to him)

I heard the reason the San Siro got it's name is because when Pirelli built the original stadium for AC Milan he had a church by that name knocked down to make room. The stadium was then given the churches name in honour of that, by what you have all said this isn't true but I think it is still a nice story.

Stadio Meazza

Ciao
Interesting post here. Giuseppe Meazza only played for Inter but guested for Juve and Varese during WW2. The Area of Milan is called San Siro and to me that sounds alot better but having said that, saying Stadio Meazza is quite alright as some locals call it, both Milan and Inter fans. I am not aware that Perelli had a church on the site and cannot agree or disagree but its interesting.

Ciao ragazzi
Luca

How much is the ticket to the home game? I heard the price is more expensive for games vs Juve and Inter. What about CL games and Copa? Just want to know, so that I can start saving money for Milan derby in ..say...2008 :D
