Nah. He would be the main striker. He couldn't run the show.

Nope. I watched plenty of Palermo. We're not gonna agree on this. You're someone who thinks Ibra was horrible the second part of last season, I'm someone who thinks despite not scoring, and being out with suspensions, he will still your best player most of the time he played, for the same reason Pastore was consistent for Palermo.
Most people will tell you the same thing, he was inconsistent even in his last season in Palermo, and not because of injuries like Pato but he simply faded in a number of games and didn`t show his potential.

A lot of young players who are very fast (like Pato) have problems with muscle injuries, and most of them get over it, so we shouldn`t just write Pato off because of that. He has incredible potential and if he stays clear of injuries he will shine.

For Palermo, he was. Dunno about PSG. Not a model of consistency but not injuryprone and in and out of form either. Slumps here and there, but also showed a high level.

LOL, Pastore was inconsistent as fuck for Palermo. Ilicic outshined him for large parts of last season.

Anything under 45M for Pato = NO

Inter you are wrong on this one. Ibra did stink it up the second half of last season and really wasnt decisive. He gave the team confidence because of his aura but his play was very poor.

I disagree. I thought he was very decisive. If you look at the highlights of all the matches he played in, which you claim he stunk it up in, you will find he created a higher number of plays, that lead to a goal, than any other Milan player. He was just poor for his level.

On Pastore, he usually started well and then disappears for most of the season. Also to say he ran the show is kind of mis-information, they played well on the break and when he has space he is nice but when teams pack it in like against Milan his play isnt that inventive or decisive.

On Pato's price - Balotelli went for 30 and his cv was utter rubbish to Pato's with behavioural problems. Anything under 45 is a joke because of the market and the only way he leaves is if he forces his way out.

If Milan sell then we are more than broke and if we are why would we take on Tevez salary???

Balotelli had proven as much as Pato when he left Inter, just not for as long. But I agree it doesn't make sense to sell him. I just think it's unrealistic to expect anyone to pay 40-50 million for Pato considering his injuryproblems. And that's not even mentioning his lack of form.

That's like saying I would take Xabi Alonso over Vertonghen. Only less ridiculous. :D Two different players with different roles and positions.

Actually, no. It's like saying I would trade player Y for player X because he could do more good for the team. I don't see what's ridiculous about it. You brought up the comparison btw..

Funnier than 1 year in Serie B = -5 scudetti? :g:

"-5 Scudetti" is a quote of an Inter legend. It was a fitting answer. What you said is just dumb. :D

Grande Clarence :o Robinho (where have you gone) and Pato with MVB and Gattuso solidifying the mids.

Your bias finally shows ;) - Super Mario never equalled Pato's debut before this season. Great control, cool finish and petulance is all he showed.

Maybe, but I think rather your bias shows.;) There wasn't that much between the two. Pato had a better scoring rate, but Mario was superior in other areas. Not to mention Balotelli helped Inter win titles, and played in the biggest games in Europe, while Pato did not.

I did not. Read again. You were saying Pastore is better than Pato because he's consistent and I laughed it off. Even though you admitted so yourself:

He was just poor for his level.

Hence - inconsistent.

And the comparison is fine if you wanna play the Football Manager game.

Which lamer created that quote? BTW you interpreted what I said wrong. I said he's a class above i.e. much better player, not more classy as in morals or whatever. Either way it's a stupid statement as I don't like generalizing but we're just having fun. And it's probably true anyway, who the fuck are Palermo's best players in history?

Always made me laugh how interisti compared Balo to Pato during the Mancio and Mourinho days. I mean what had Balo done? Start last 6 months with Mancini then stay on the bench for 2 years with Mou.

Pato was Milan's main striker and was scoring consistently. Balotelli played biggest games in Europe? Pato scored in them! Bernabeu 3-2.

Currently I see a comparison but back in 08-10 it was very funny interisti thought Balo was better.

Ok, so technically you got me. That's not what I mean with consistency though. I don't mean consistently being at your level, but rather consistently playing the game at a high level, or a higher level than your teammates. Since it's a team sport it's all relative. I'd rather have an inconsistent player that's consistently good, but poor for his highest level, than a super consistent player that's consistently average. You follow?

And the comparison is fine if you wanna play the Football Manager game.

Let's not.

:D

Giuseppe "Peppino" Prisco.

And it's not true. It's hilariously far from it. Just in recent times Palermo has had Luca Toni and Cavani. But I agree, we're just having fun. As for the greatest Palermo player: I'm with you. Who the fuck knows..:D

Madrid in group stages. Come on now. That's not exactly the biggest games in Europe. Quarterfinals, semifinals and so on is what I was referring to. Against Madrid in group stages is like scoring on Juventus in derby d' Italia.

But fair enough. Pato scored more so you have that argument going for you. I think even then Balotelli was a much more complete and useful player, but again, this is something we'll never agree on so there's no point arguing it.

A lot of young players who are very fast (like Pato) have problems with muscle injuries, and most of them get over it, so we shouldn`t just write Pato off because of that. He has incredible potential and if he stays clear of injuries he will shine.

The problem is that much of the injuries Pato has had is directly related to greatest strength, his running. He could avoid getting injured as much by running slower or being more careful changing direction but you'd also take away one of the greatest weapons in his arsenal, he'd have to change his game to find other ways to play to make up for not relying on his speed. Injuries are not simply something we can expect him to outgrow. Calf muscle injuries you even get more prone to with age, but that's not the case for for hamstring, quadriceps, or hip/groin strains.

Running/sprinting most common mechanism for hamstring injuries:

"It is well established that hamstring muscle injuries are common in sports characterised by high-velocity sprinting or multidirectional acceleration. Similar to the study by Woods et al our study shows that the majority of hamstring injuries occurred during running or sprinting. Eccentric overloading at the end of the swing phase has been suggested as a possible mechanism behind hamstring injuries. Fatigue might be another important factor; it has previously been shown that muscle injuries occur more frequently towards the end of each half. In a laboratory study of male professional football players, Grieg et al showed that the eccentric hamstrings' strength decreased over time and, in particular, after the half-time interval. Fatigue might also alter the neuromuscular activity in the hamstrings, as shown by Pinniger et al."

From the British Journal of Sports Medicine:
http://bjsm.bmj.com/content/early/2011/12/05/bjsports-2011-090155.full
A recent study from European Football published in The American Journal of Sports Medicine:

"Results: In total, 2908 muscle injuries were registered. On average, a player sustained 0.6 muscle injuries per season. A squad of 25 players can thus expect about 15 muscle injuries per season. Muscle injuries constituted 31% of all injuries and caused 27% of the total injury absence. Ninety-two percent of all muscle injuries affected the 4 major muscle groups of the lower limbs: hamstrings (37%), adductors (23%), quadriceps (19%), and calf muscles (13%). Sixteen percent of the muscle injuries were reinjuries. These reinjuries caused significantly longer absences than did index injuries. The incidence of muscle injury increased with age. When separated into different muscle groups, however, an increased incidence with age was found only for calf muscle injuries and not for hamstring, quadriceps, or hip/groin strains.

Conclusion: Muscle injuries are a substantial problem for players and their clubs. They constitute almost one third of all time-loss injuries in men’s professional football, and 92% of all injuries affect the 4 big muscle groups in the lower limbs."

With this inflated market anything less than 35 Million should be considered an insult.

Wednesday January 11 2012 Paris SG make Pato bid – report

The Gazzetta dello Sport is today claiming that Paris Saint-Germain have made Milan an offer for Alexandre Pato.

Milan recently insisted that the Brazilian would be remaining at the club despite speculation that all is not well in his relationship with boss Massimiliano Allegri.

The Italian champions have also previously claimed that they’ve not been contacted by Paris SG for the attacker.

However, the Gazzetta is suggesting that PSG, now bossed by former Milan tactician Carlo Ancelotti, have tabled a €28m bid for the youngster.

That fee is said to be considered as too low by the San Siro giants who value the 22-year-old at around €40m.

Milan, it is claimed, may be tempted to sell if a decent offer arrived in order to then use that cash to sign Carlos Tevez.

They’ve agreed personal terms with the Argentine striker, but Manchester City have so far refused to hand over the player on a loan with a right to buy option.

Nevertheless, not everyone agrees with the potential decision to sacrifice Pato for Tevez.

If I had a choice between Tevez and Pato then I would go for the Brazilian,” former Brescia boss Mario Beretta commented.

Pato is still young and he has margins for improvement.

There are a few problems in his strike partnership with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but I think it could be a psychological one which can be resolved.

PSG, FIRST OFFER FOR PATO "Team": 25 million, AC Milan says no 11/01/12

In France as in Italy, the news is confirmed: the Paris Saint Germain has made the first formal offer to purchase the AC Milan Alexandre Pato.

According to "L'Equipe", King of the French sporting press, the amount made available by the sheikhs for "duck" is equal to 25 million i: too few for Milan , which has already rejected the proposal, but waits for any raises. The negotiation exists, and certainly will continue.

This figure, reported by the press that transalpine, just under 28 million set by "Journal". Three million more or less matters little: what is important and true, and that Leonardo , general director of the Capitol, has had a sort of green light by AC Milan itself to open a table itself, made up of words written and spoken.

The Rossoneri, theoretically, would derive from the sacrifice of a Brazilian bank of not less than 40 million: the money needed to close the issue-the-fly and Tevez to buy another bit of good fundamental level for completing the list-Champions.

The offer "under 30" of PSG makes sense that the rossoblu Bleus hope to reach an agreement in mid-stream, which may go to sign a check for 33 million to 34 million .

There, the ball will be in feet Galliani : There will be intransigent or compromise, especially there will be the final choice, even and especially in the case of permanence from Pato to Milan , of a prospectus is still anchored to the role of "man of the future." From 1 February onwards, when it remains at Milanello, the papers will show that this became a man.

I agree with the Interista, he brings valid points about Balotelli = Pato at Serie A around same age... However Balotelli's biggest advantage over Pato is that he is a psychologically strong and ready and Pato couldn't handle the pressure and has crumbled.

Balotelli however hasn't played great in all the CL games, it was 2 good games in the group stages and 2 other good substitute appearances in the knock-out phases.

if that offer is legit of around 28 million, what the F?

Its funny how they think thats even close to what his price should be, but it doesn't matter. He isnt going anywhere.... hopefully. Although it will be interesting to see if PSG are testing the waters. If we even consider this bid, then we really are broke and ******ed.
Tevez money will be gained and its practically tevez for pato. Awful trade.

The price really depends on so many factors, if the player/agent is forcing the sale then that lowers the price. It's been reported by French media that Leonardo has offered Pato a salary of 7 million euro, currently he's earning 4 million after tax after he got a raise last season.

Just like when a player comes on a free transfer he gets a higher salary, a player who lowers the price of his transfer somehow, can get a higher salary, or he can forgo a higher salary to let the buying club afford a higher bid helping them afford him, like Zlatan, Fabregas and Mascherano did.

Nike is apparently also a factor, they are sponsoring PSG and Pato and want to use him in advertising on the French market. So there's money in that as well.

It seems incredibly stupid that this might actually be happening now unless Galliani's hand is forced because if Pato leaves now we are left with only two strikers on the CL list and that means they are giving up on this years CL ambition. I wanna trust that the club knows what they are doing, in retrospect they did well when they sold Kaka and Sheva but this all seems to be happening too fast and Pato might be leaving way too soon, I wanna understand what's really going on. :conf: At least I don't think that Berlusconi will let Leonardo get away with a deal that heavily favors him.

I`m in disbelief to be honest that we`re willing to let him go so easily. He turned 22 couple of months ago and even with all the injuries he has maganed to score 50 in 100 games for us, that`s huge.. If he gets rid of injuries he will become one of the best strikers around ceartinly, and we are willing to let him go for somewhere around 35m?

If he does leave Allegri should take some of the blame, as Pato was functioning pretty well with the previous coaches. I understand that building the team around Ibrahimovic was a neccessity, but he should`ve come up with a plan that includes maximizing Pato`s contribution.
Our strikers are obviously meant to help in the build up, and Pato is just not good at that, but that doesn`t mean he can`t be a huge factor in this team, just in a different system.

If what Pato says, about Allegri not giving him pointers as to what he wants from him exactly, is true, then it could be just that Allegri himself is not sure of it. He has three forwards at his disposal that can create a lot and do most of the build-up play, and then he has Pato who needs to be close to goal in order to play really well and show his strenghts. He should try to create a system where both Ibra and Pato can shine, that would make us much more deadly.

Well I hope you're right. Reading the newspapers it's easy to get a little worried , Thanks for the reality(?) check :D

Lucia likes Ibra, hence Pato to her is probably the root of all evil.

:fp: logic fail :fp:

All we need is a better midfield for Pato and Zlatan to work perfectly.

Yeah, just look at me. Remember to wear sunglasses.

Seriously, Pato isn't leaving in this window. One reason: Ibra and Binho aren't enough in CL.
They are preparing for a summer move, and around 30 million is totally reasonable.

Not really. That's how you and Freddy act despite trying to hide it or sweet talk it.

Yes, Fiero, clearly we are a secret little army with one mission: bring evil upon little golden boy. We're probably sponsored by North Korea. Or Moratti.

Shit, we're exposed.
