yeah that's what i was wondering...they shipped him off to italy in a big box with some holes cut in the sides when he was still a fragile teenager

meanwhile he gets married, gets divorced and his career as a professional athlete swirls around and around the toilet bowl

and they don't care enough to reach in and get him out as long as the checks keep making it home?

hopefully that's not the case...but someone needs to do something to help this kid. and if someone has been "helping" him, it's not working!

Pato spent the christmas holiday with his parents, they were in Paris together, after that he did his interview about Allegri and his agent confirmed he was interested in PSG's proposal. So Pato's parents aren't completely absent from his life and were there with him checking out a potential Paris move.

Again this season vs Barcelona
Point is Pato proved he's worth trusting. Yeah he gets injured, and yeah he's inconsistent, and yeah when he's not scoring he's pretty much awful.

How can you say he's truth worthy and the next sentence call him inconsistent?

Their are so many strikers in serie A who have scored more than 15 goals in a season (which remains his best year ever).

Consistency and trust is earned by doing it week in and week out. How sheva did it. How kaka did for a while. How Zlatan does it. How Seedorf, Pirlo, Gattuso, Maldini, Nesta and so on alll did during their primes.

Pato has showed no consistency.

He's all potential. His game hasn't improved one bit, and his attitude is awful . I don't get how you can say you think capello is an amazing maanger, same with sacchi and NOT side with allegri v. Pato. The whole pato situation undermines all his authority, when all he's trying to do is be like capello, and make his squad work hard and earn their place.

aww, that's good to know. i remember being that age and even though you feel like an adult, having your parents around can still be really important

and his attitude is awful .

granted, the only time i actually see pato is during a game on television, if he's playing

i don't regularly read sports news papers, nor watch sports shows, etc

but why do you claim his attitude is so bad? what does pato do/not do that gives him a bad attitude?

i've seen pictures of him at practice, pictures with his teammates, he plays games (when he is not injured) and recently refused a move to another team to stay in milan

where is the bad attitude?

Trust worthy as in showed what he can do vs big opponents. When needed the most. Won us the game vs Real, got us a point vs Barca, won us last year's derby, etc.

Yeah he's inconsistent but he's still young. People forget that he's only 22 cos he's been here so long. Kaka arrived when he was 22, Sheva was older, the same for the rest. Pato scored 50 something goals for Milan as a teenager. Look at it both ways. Yeah he's been a bit spoiled and given an opportunity 99% of kids don't get, and yeah he's no Ronaldo fenomeno... but he's not horrible either. He's not going to be an individual superhero ala CRon or Ibra, but he can be a fantastic goalscorer like Pippo, Bierhoff, etc.

Just don't see why give up on him NOW when he's still 22 and has room to improve. He's earned himself a longer stay IMO. He shows flashes of what he can do. Don't get why give up on him mid-season suddenly when a little while ago he was touted to be world class...?

He's all potential. His game hasn't improved one bit, and his attitude is awful . I don't get how you can say you think capello is an amazing maanger, same with sacchi and NOT side with allegri v. Pato. The whole pato situation undermines all his authority, when all he's trying to do is be like capello, and make his squad work hard and earn their place.

When did I say Allegri is wrong? I'm not calling for Pato to start or 'get favors', I'm just against selling him. Bench his ass, let him work hard and see if he earns a spot. That's what Allegri did last season and it worked well, Pato bounced with a bang and it benifited the team.

I just don't get selling him for a shitty 4 months. He has great highs and terrible lows, just stick with him for a while. I don't get why SUDDENLY he has to leave NOW. In the summer people were betting he's gonna make the partnership with Ibra work... things couldn't have gotten THAT much worse in 4 months...

Isn't it about time we stop making excuses for him?

Yes we all know that he has potential and what he can be capable of doing, but the simple truth is that - we aren't seeing it and haven't for a long time. We may get bursts of it here and there but never anything consistent. Ppl should really stop using injuries and a lack of midfield as a crutch. Lack of midfield isn't affecting our other strikers and regardless of what Pato's qualities are suited to be, he hasn't improved much.

If anythinh, the kid has actually regressed. He barely can meet his man on a dribble, has zero movement, shit positioning etc etc etc. I honestly don't know if it is our fault or Pato's as to why he has regressed. But the end point is, if he doesn't prove himself this season, he never will. Might as well cut our losses and sell him while we can still get something for him...

And then use that money to buy Jovetic (provided the management actually acts sensibly for once) who has a much bigger upside....

And again I don't see what does signing Tevez have to do with Pato. Except that Milan are fucking broke. But you are speaking as if Tevez is a guaranteed hit. He's a cool player but with the biggest dick of an agent in the world. He bitched to leave West Ham, bitched to leave Utd (insulted Sir Alex!), and is now bitching to leave City. All Manchester hates him it must be for a reason. United fans adored him and stood by him vs Fergie yet he left to City and attacked the Sir; City treated him like a king and gave him the armband but again he bitched about leaving and refused to come on in a freaking match...

Not sure how he'd be more trustable than Pato. So the point remains... selling Pato would mean losing him completely, but keeping him means he still has a shot to come good and so far he's had a mixed spell with Milan BUT he showed what he could do at the highest stage i.e. he's still worth a shot. Especially since people are fed up of him based on a fucking half a season.

.

I think its far easier to man manage a player especially for a club like Milan which is their only strong point these days considering all the strong personalities we already have. On the other hand Pato's injuries are pretty much beyond anything Milan can offer by the looks of it.

And tevez as a player offers too much more than Pato. If a Pato-Tevez trade was on the cards i believe Milan should have taken it. And Tevez is as big a big game player as they come not to mention very very consistent. And judging from his style of play of quick pass, runs, dribbles and very good finishing he would compliment ibra well.

I really dont think his fitness would be an issue. 2 weeks - 3 weeks tops before he is back to his old self. He is an extremely hard worker.

You know what your prob is? You're probably one of those who thought Pato was going to be world's greatest player in a couple of years and do a lot of youtube compilation material. Bought his shirt... have him in your fav. players list. But eventually started to realize he might never be the hero you always wanted... your heart got broken and now you 'hate' him. So childish. :D I bet if in a couple of years he succeeds you'll be back 'OH I love Pato! Always knew he'd make it!!1'... and if he gets sold or whatever and basically never fulfills the promise you'll think 'OH yeah kid's always sucked!!! boo him'... eitherway you end up feeling good about yourself. :D

Just like drucurl with Pirlo. He was in his fav. player's list then suddenly after the Arsenal game he decided to blame everything wrong in the world on Pirlo. Trolled his thread to death and got many bans ending with perma.

With this midfield Milan scored 40 goals in Serie A so far. Average more than 2 goals per match. Pato got only 1...

disagreed.

The problem is you're thinking that way.

If you take him off his pedistal, here is what we got.

22 year old, who is 4th highest paid striker in serie A (IIRC, zlatan, milito, robinho are only ones paid higher..)

-He's never scored more than 15 goals in a season
-He's been unable to stay fit for 3 years now
-He's shown awful Work ethic, and a lack of desire. He won't play hurt or sick, unlike many players who put team first
-In 3 years he hasn't progressed ONE bit.

All that aside, he's still a talent, but their are doubts on how talented. And he has problems with players in squad and manager.

--

Because of his name, he can fetch milan 30 mil. And with that money we can get a kid who is just as talented (jovetic) and possesses better intangibles.

IS that really a bad thing?
--

I just don't see any reason to justify keeping him apart from nostalgia.

It's not even about bad form, it's about bad return on investment, between problems off the field (distractions), problems in locker room, and inconsistent play due to a variety of reasons.

If we could sell pato and get someone with the talent like jovetic, then sure. That could work.

But I honestly cant see milan doing that. Some one like tevez would be signed in a heartbeat which is in no way an advantage to us IMO. Plus like mentioned, pato has had a bad spell in which he has been injured a lot. Way to much and I agree that its frustrating, but how everyone has suddenly turned on him is a disgrace.

pato is just as good as many other strikers at 22 and is no where near his prime. As far as I'm concerned, let him get back to full fitness, make his way into the team and show us if hes worth keeping. Judging an injured player makes no since, and these injuries must clear up eventually or at least anyone would imagine they would. Barcelona waited years for messi, yet everyone here wants perfection right now from pato.

Cavani, Aguero, Higuain, Benzema, Sanchez. Jovetic etc etc etc

Most of them weren't hyped until only recently (read Cavani). He hasn't improved ONE bit whereas most of the hyped players in his age group have. If anything, his play has regressed...

I am honestly tired of making excuses form him. Either he finally steps up or fucks off for cash. Can't stand to continually hear this 'eternal promise' BS

To be fair, his finishing has definitely improved. Go back even a year and I know I didnt think of pato as a deadly finisher, but now everyone thinks thats one of his best attributes.

1 year in football is a long time, it just takes a break out season for most players and they never look back. Ronaldo and messi are prime examples of just needing that 1 season to become great. Even prince to a certain extent, went from a nobody to important player in milan in 1 season.

Difference is, Pato hasn't improved a bit in the last five years. If anything, he has constantly showed how much he has regressed....

In certain aspects he actually has gotten better. He is definitely much stronger now and has had to adapt to many different roles in the past 3/4 years. Its no wonder his game isnt fantastic, each role requires a different skill set.

Ask any player to move around and they will struggle.

Seems like everyone has given up on Pato, atleast most people on this forum have.
I love Pato, but at this point I think it will be better for his career if he moves to some other club. However, there is still time for him to shine at Milan. Stranger things have happened in football.
Anyway I think as Milan fans we should be really disappointed with the fact that we have failed to develop a guy who was one of the best u-21 forwards in the world when he arrived here. It is one of our biggest failures in recent time imo. What is really shocking is that some people actually seem happy with the fact that Pato has been performing badly.

It isn't entirely the club's fault you know, altho we did help

Ronaldinho and his partying, Berlu making him his surrogate son, dating Barbara, golden boy of Milan cauz everyone else was shit, failure to invest, Kaka's departure, pressure to perform better than Ibra etc etc etc

But a lot of it is down to him himself. If you don't have the mentality within yourself, no one can do anything to change that....

Now this thread makes sense. For and against. Not conspiracy theories, or delusions about how good he could be if he had Iniesta, Xavi, Ganso, Oezil and so on behind him. The reality is he has one job. To score. He's playing for the team with most goals in Serie A and he ain't doing it, despite having numerous chances every game.

Most fans curse their underperformers and shout insults at them to leave the club, all the while expecting loyalty from their best players. Therefore I respect the Pato advocates. Player loyalty from club fans is the most beautiful thing in this world of hypocrites.

I'm not dissing on him but Pato is looking more and more like Milan's very own Recoba. It's just not natural to be that injuryprone. Especially not at his age. When a player limps off the pitch consistently without no one even touching him, and is out for a month because of it, it's a big problem.

And if that player is one of the highest earners on the team, or God forbid the highest as was the case with Recoba, there's something seriously wrong with that picture and it creates a whole new set of problems.

Its easy to blame a young player. I personally think its the clubs fault to a large extent. We need to groom players like Barca, Utd does. Then again, maybe Pato does not have the temperament to become a world class player, only time will tell.

Its not just about Pato, he can be replaced. What worries me more is that we haven't managed to produce a single world class player in years. That can't really be a coincidence. Its quite evident that some things need to be changed, otherwise the same thing will happen with El-Shaarawy, Merkel etc. We can't really keep depending on players to fight with their coaches so that we can get them at a cut price, surely Milan as a club can do better.

I do believe he has improved in 2 things (better heading technique and more goal sense, for ex. the goal he made vs Novara, at 18 he failed it vs Atalanta), it is not that he has regressed but that he hasn't improved 1 bit in anything else, and those 2 things he has improved well its almost basic requirement that he would've improved in something.

I still see the same erratic player from the U-20 WC in 2007, the same non smart tactical player from the 08 Olympics, the same inconsistent player under Carlo...with the added minus that at least back when he was 18-20 you could see how fired up he came on the pitch even when he sucked (which in the past 2 years is something we have just seen for a 2 months period, and mostly in 2-3 games in that 2 months period, after the derby even if he kept scoring you could see the "everything is cool now don't have to put much into it" attitude).

Seriously, when he was left out of the 2010 WC, it was all Dunga's fault, when Pippo was starting ahead of him with Carlo, it was all Carlo's and Pippo's fault, now it's Ibra's and Allegri's, it's the lack of midfield, his injuries are all Milan Lab's fault, it's never him...at one point you guys have to realize IT IS HIM, his poor physical condition, his consistent tactical errors, his poor form in general, his stalled improvement it is him.

It is pretty telling when the whole team is starting to get tired of him (case in point look at Ambro's and Allegri's reaction when he left the field directly to the dressing rooms in Coppa Italia), and when his GM that has protected him was willing to sell him for 28 mil + 7 in bonus (and that was the offer from "his mentors", they pretty much know that's his worth).

I can see the potential, I still believe he can let it out, but it won't happen in here, he needs to go to another place, a place where he won't be excused for everything and won't be given special treatment to start a derby by the owner (/dad in law). He needs to go to a place where he realizes not everything will be handed to him on silver platter, he needs to get to a place where someone will light fire up his ass so that he wakes up and fullfills that potential. Milan could've still be the place a year ago, even after the season was over, but we're back at square one (for the 4th season in a row!) with him this season, so no it really isn't here where he'll fullfill it.

I used to be loyal to Pato. I'm his fan, but after he got injured right before the current one, I simply lost patience with it. For a long time, I hoped he would eventually get better, but it isn't looking likely to happen... I want him sold, but just because of him not being able to keep fit, because in terms of form, that's his first really bad season.

That was an excellent read. I don't agree with all of it but you make good points it was very well written.

Mostly, he has gotten a prettier and more powerful girlfriend. Saying he hasnt developed misses the mark.

We need to groom players like Barca, Utd does.

Sure. And Barca would definitely ship out a young "talent" if he after five years, age 22 hadn't improved. Bojan is younger than Pato, he was shipped away after four years in the A squad.
