Conte: Champions League is life
By Football Italia staff

Juventus boss Antonio Conte has underlined how important Champions League football is to the Old Lady during a revealing interview with La Repubblica.

While the Bianconeri are just four points shy of leaders Milan in the Scudetto race, the tactician has highlighted that a return to the European Cup is the top priority.

“There are minimum objectives which I wouldn’t sign for and dreams which I chase, but in the knowledge that they are difficult to achieve,” he stated.

“I was asked to take the team back into the Champions League because it was fundamental from an economic point of view, as well as an attraction to tempt great players here.

“We need to finish the season in at least second place. The Champions League is life.”

Juve have been a revelation this term. After finishing the last two campaigns in seventh place, they are currently unbeaten and have also reached the Final of the Coppa Italia.

“We’ve gone a long way this season and it may have been appropriate to grow more gradually, but we are Juve and here winning is what counts,” he continued.

“The problem is that Milan are a few years ahead of us. We’ve narrowed the gap with the rest, but not with Milan.

“As well as buying new players you need to grow as a team. A lot of these players were not used to the mental stress which they have felt this season. We lack experience.”

Conte arrived in Turin as a 4-4-2/4-2-4 tactician, but he’s mainly used 4-3-3 and 3-5-2 shapes in the campaign.

“You improve on a professional level each year. For example, I would have never thought that I would change my system of play.

“One season at a big club is worth five or six at a small one. That’s why I today feel a lot more mature.”

Conte, a former club captain, had always dreamed about bossing his beloved Old Lady, but his ambitions as a Coach don’t end in Turin.

“Milan or Inter? I’m a professional and I have demonstrated that. Whoever knows of the hatred between Lecce and Bari will understand that. I am Leccese, but I totally threw myself in at Bari.

“A move abroad? I’ve been studying English for years, but I’m finding it hard to get to grips with. Sooner or later, I’d like an experience somewhere else.”

Conte was also asked for his opinion on the troubles at Inter after Andrea Stramaccioni became their third boss of the campaign following the dismissals of Gian Piero Gasperini and Claudio Ranieri.

“I think that Gasperini is a great Coach, one of the best, therefore the crisis at Inter is not just his fault.

“If a Coach is not supported by the club and he doesn’t have players who will give him a hand then the most phenomenal tactician in the world is destined to fail. I know as it has happened to me.”

Napoli: Campagnaro and Maggio OK
By Football Italia staff

Napoli preparations for facing Juventus this weekend have received a boost with the news that Christian Maggio and Hugo Campagnaro are fit.

Alongside Gianluca Grava, Maggio and Campagnaro were hit with a virus in midweek that prevented their participation in training.

However, all three men are believed fully recovered, having returned to training to take a full part in Friday’s work.

Walter Mazzarri’s team travel north to Turin to take on second place Juventus on Sunday evening, keen to pick up three points to maintain momentum in the race for the third and final Champions League qualification slot.

Probable Napoli team to face Juventus: De Sanctis; Campagnaro, Cannavaro, Aronica; Maggio, Gargano, Inler, Zuniga; Hamsik, Lavezzi; Cavani

This is old news TBH, both teams have had a deal since late December. Fausto Rossi was included in the deal, joining Brescia this winter on loan.

IMO the only GREAT keeper, one who deserves a top table team, coming from Brescia these last few years was Castelazzi. And that's telling enough. Leali is gonna join the likes of Viviano and Agliardi in the 'high potentials but not quite there' goalkeepers. Both of them were even more highly regarded than Leali. And even showed more promise if you ask me.

Don't get me wrong, Leali is a good goalkeeper, but he's been kept out of the team by Arcari since this winter, who has let only 5 or 6 goals in in the last 12 games. Leali has his lapses of concentration, which maybe can be solved due to experience. But, as for now, I really don't see Leali replacing a legend like Buffon, not in the next 4-5 years. He needs some game time in Serie A before being even remotely ready for a team like Juve.

Inter Milan are ready to launch a €60 million spending spree this summer to rebuild their crisis-hit squad.

La Tercera says Udinese's Chile international winger Mauricio Isla tops their shopping list, but the spending won't end there.

Vasco da Gama defender Dede, Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi, Atalanta defender Federico Peluso and Schalke midfielder Jurado are also on Inter's shopping list.

The Chilean media say Inter will throw €60 million at rebuilding the squad this summe

it would be so awesome to see Moratti's face when they buy all these players and still end the 12th in the Serie A

Inter make Bielsa pact?
By Football Italia staff

New Coach Andrea Stramaccioni makes his debut tomorrow, but there’s already talk of Inter making a pact with Athletic Bilbao boss Marcelo Bielsa.

The Nerazzurri started the campaign with Gian Piero Gasperini, then axed Claudio Ranieri this week to promote Stramaccioni from the Primavera youth team.

However, the Gazzetta dello Sport maintains there is already a ‘pact’ with Bielsa to take over next season.

This agreement would include Inter signing at least two key players from his Athletic Bilbao side, namely 23-year-old Andere Iturraspe and 22-year-old Oscar de Marcos.

Other potential wish-list items are striker Iker Munian and wide man Susaeta.

Bielsa had been the number one option for the Inter bench when Leonardo walked away last summer, but turned down the job because he was committed to Athletic.

This is why the Nerazzurri are now starting negotiations very early in a bid to tempt the former Chile manager over to San Siro.

Spanish media also suggest, though, that Bielsa is wanted by Barcelona as the heir to Pep Guardiola.

Bielsa rejected them... and he moves around a lot... why would he have such a connection with Basque players now that he'll move to a team he rejected and take them with him?

It's just such a reach.

He rejected them after they finished second. Now, he'll accept their deal after he's hugely raised his profile in Europe and Inter will finish like 7th.

Inter will start spending 60 million, Juventus will for sure spend, Napoli also.
Berlusconi, you need to open your wallet. Use some of your money, why the hell do you even need those 6 billion €?

Conte: 'Juve eyes on Napoli and Milan'
By Football Italia staff

Juventus Coach Antonio Conte hopes Milan will “shoot themselves in the foot” and could start Marco Borriello against hometown club Napoli tomorrow.

“After this game there will be another eight and I have to say this is going to be a probing test for us,” said Conte ahead of the Sunday evening showdown.

“Napoli have done well to reach the Coppa Italia Final and went so close to the Champions League quarter-finals. In fact, seeing how Chelsea beat Benfica, I believe the Partenopei could’ve reached the semi.

“This club has grown so much and it is thanks to President Aurelio De Laurentiis, who constructed a long-term project that improved year by year. Walter Mazzarri and his players also did something extraordinary and only paid a price for not having that much strength in depth. The Champions League takes a lot out of you, as I know from when I played in it.

“Their strikers can be decisive when given space and are so dangerous. Mazzarri is a great Coach and I respect him. I believe that I am too and will be in years to come.”

Juventus changed their system to mirror that of Napoli in their spectacular 3-3 draw at the San Paolo on November 6, an approach many sides have since taken.

“Strangely, since we played with the 3-5-2 in Naples, everyone has adopted this system. Napoli are an atypical side, as they often over-run you. We will evaluate all options, as we can also play with a 4-3-3.

“Borriello and Fabio Quagliarella could both start tomorrow and are highly motivated to play against their hometown club. Fabio is going through a difficult year, while Marco perhaps would’ve had a different season if he had arrived in June.”

Juventus are in second place and hope to close the four-point gap from leaders Milan.

“If we win tomorrow, then we put second place under lock and key. It would be extraordinary to reach the Champions League without a preliminary round, but we are also keeping an eye open to take advantage of any slip-ups...

“The Scudetto is in Milan’s hands and only they can lose it. Our fixture list is tougher than theirs in the run-in, but if they were to shoot themselves in the foot...”

Everytime Milan plays, it doesn't feel like Milan vs Catania or Milan vs Juventus or Milan vs Fiorentina, it feels like Milan vs the referees every fucking game. There is something wrong going on with the referees in this league and I can't stand it anymore, Galliani and co got to do something about this.

It's great if Lazio losses, that adds to Napoli motivation the way our draw adds to Zebras.
