The Rossoneri forward endured a largely frustrating 2011-12 after being sidelined for long periods of time due to a range of niggling thigh setbacks.

However, the Selecao ace has now revealed that rehabilitation back in his homeland has rid him of such ailments, and that he is now keen to compete in the tournament.

“I had an imbalance of the posterior muscles and that caused problems for me,” the 22-year-old told Globoesporte.

“In the space of a month we re-balanced the muscles and I was able to get back on to the pitch.

“All those injuries were dramatic for me. I would recover, then two games later felt pain again. I am aware of my potential and will do everything I can to take part in the Olympics,” he admitted.

Pato came off the bench to mark a scoring return in Brazil's 4-1 friendly victory over USA on Wednesday.

marcelo is just superb going forward, i would rather have someonewho is good at something like going forward than nothing at all like mesbah and to a lesser extent LA77, who i have nothing against but should only be a backup. Urby can play LB, but i think he would be more suited to a 3 5 2 which deploys wingbacks rather than the normal 4 3 1 2, where he needs to be defensively sound.

Marcelo is just a stupid player, who is prone to making a costly mistake and is very weak defensively, which is the no.1 job of a defender in my eyes.

Marcelo will return to his usual self when Mourinho leaves Madrid, he will show glimpses of his current form but he will not be consistent, this is the Mourinho effect.

I would take Ashley Cole any day of the week... Ashley Cole does not get schooled by anyone... i've seen Marcelo taking beginner class lessons from many players.. his only resort was to kick them and cause a fight... idiot!
