Was always overhyped.
For the Pato fan boys, that doesn't mean i thought he was shit.

He's fast as hell, good with both feet, decent in the air, scores freekicks, has a powerful shot was a good dribbler when he came to Milan What's not to hype?

The things Pato showed at 18yo were crazy. If he developed properly I truly believe he would be a top 5 striker by now. Fact is he didn't.

He was a great prospect but things didn't work out like they should have.

Now we have Balo (who we bought in midseason, was he Man C standard?) who I have high hopes for. Talent alone is not enough though, we've seen that with Pato.

Tbh, his looked seemto have a negative correlation with his ability on the pitch, the more handsome he gets, the worse he gets. Now he looks great, but is missing important penalties in shootouts. Maybe MilanLab should've made him grow a mullet.

Pato return to the Brazil NT is more so on the dire state of Brazil striker situation than Pato form in Corinthians. It was completely undeserved.

Almost all professional footballers are wild partiers...including many at the top
Tevez, Ribery come most readily to mind and then there was Oliver Khan, Ronaldo, Vieri, Romario etc who were basically fucking animals in the night scene.

Sure Kaka might go home to his family and Anelka might have a hard time choosing between his Silver Chair and Staind collection but the rest hit the clubs as much as they like. SES and Balo do this as well.

As long as they recover for their training and games and the level of their play does not decrease what players do in their spare time is nobody's business.

I'd wish people limited their comments on players' mentalities to the hard facts. You can't know someone's mental constitution or what they're thinking.

Again, neither you nor I can measure his drive. There is no evidence other than some anecdotal evidence of ppl saying that he needs to work harder...those same things are said about Balotelli and nobody doubts his drive. Leaving a top club in a top league with a huge salary to start over from scratch, re-earn your place and start back scoring isn't an indicator of "lack of drive".

To clarify, the issue is not that he parties. The issue is that that lifestyle seems to be prioritized over football.

It's obvious with his attitude on pitch and wild inconsistency.

and who can forget m,y favorite, 'ouch i'm hurt' subbed off in first half, and by halftime upstairs in VIP laughing and partying w/ his friends. That for me was my turning point. So disrespectful to his teammates.

No one ever said the problem is the party life...the problem is when the party (or social life) affects your professional life, and everything points out that it has taken a toll in Pato, a big toll.
