I don’t think it was Gerry’s decision tho. At least Furlani watched football his whole life, he probably has the knowledge of the average R&Ber.

Gerry probably doesn’t know what an offside is
option a: furlani is a lifelong ac milan fan and calcio enthusiast who felt the best course of action was to fire paolo maldini as td of ac milan

option b: furlani was the only guy in elliott's london office that spoke italian, so he's a good choice to look after elliott's asset they acquired via yonghong li's loan

What happened to signatures, how do you even run this forum now

I feel like tech support, I don't know how to run a product I'm supposed to know how to run

Tare seems like the SD version fo Pioli, so I can definitely see the appeal

Can keep a team relatively competitive while stripping away budget and selling key pieces while replacing with unknowns
... and that is probably what Reds**t is aiming for, at least the next few years. Money is really tight right now (not just for Jerry, for everyone), and being break even is critical for getting any new capital (which is what RedS**t needs to pay back Elliott). Same s**t for high tech startups (these days you do not get funding unless you can show a credible path to break-even, very different from a couple of years ago). I do not like this (not at all), but I can understand it.

As for Maldini, the news is devastating AFAIAC (will post on this after I catch up). That said, I can see how in "corporate America" Maldini would be considered as a "loose cannon", so I can see why Reds**t would want to sack him (and, like it or not, we have an American owner). Like with the transfer budget, I do not like this, but I can understand it.

I was attacked when told we will be udineze
No, that would not make business sense for Reds**t. Value of the team (capital gain when they sell) >> short term gains (revenue from selling some players), and the Udinese model will not drive value in the team (so it goes against their interest). They will try to stay reasonably competitive while minimizing cost. Not great for us fans, but not Udinese either.

Yes. I think Pioli was more at fault than Maldini for this season's placement.

I don't think Pioli needed some incredible transfer market to beat relegation teams. The man lost to Spezia. Lazio is 2nd. Laz-i-fucking-o.

If we win this upcoming season, and you establish a dynasty, great, you were right to fire Maldini. But if you don't win? If you lose players who signed up and extended because of Maldini?

What would you call that? Objectively?

Pioli could win the next 5 CLs in a row and sacking Maldini in this manner would still be wrong. The manner that was done, awful. Zero human touch or element.

He was brought in to ease relations with the fans, these owners plans was always to run the club and make it attractive for bigger investors.

And then he started screaming with the fans to ask for more money and power, in my opinion the hold off last summer probably laid the seed for this.

I just don't understand this move,he couldn't possibly believe that Maldini did a bad job,he can't be that stupid.

I get that the guy probably heard of Milan the week before he bought it,but surely someone around him has to have at least a slight grasp on football .

Even assuming Red bird is only in it for the money, wich they very clearly are, what could be the rationale here .They must have known that this could cause huge problems in the squad , effectively lessening the value of the entire thing

Do not understand what his play is here at all, they are Americans for fucks sake ,you'd think they would understand pr at the very least

Either way fuck him and everyone associated in making this idiotic decision, they could sign haaland and I'd still want them gone.

Maldini is Milan

Maldini was not the boss. If you both have different visions about the club.. that doesnt work. So 1 has to go.
He did a bad job too this year and last year so I can understand. He is a legend, but business is hard.
Hopefully new good times are coming.

Thiaw for his price is better than Botman for 35mil.
He also have the tools to be better.
Messias 100% is not Moncada choice & since we bought him I had a bad feeling.
CDK broke our back.
Origi was bad but he was free.
so the final nail in the coffin?

353, paolo's bad job this year was a semi-final finish and CL qualification

To be fair that's pioli, the squad did get worse.

Just like how pioli is responsible for finishing 5th ( if we didn't get lucky with juves fuck ups)

I don't know how to feel about maldini leaving, I thought he was too slow with negotiations and acquiring targets, but the way this was done is classless and chaotic.

The way it’s done screams American corporate, and not really in line with how things work in Italy. And you could see this in their dealing with the stadium as well.

It was my instant thought as well, ruthless and bottom line based, tone deaf to the fans and surroundings and now they're gonna have a PR disaster this summer

I don’t want Pioli to leave now actually.

We need someone to keep this grounded. Firing both the SD and the coach will too much for the players to bear and this can unravel fast. They might want to leave and that’s my biggest worry. If at least one of them stay, we can prevent that.

With Pioli still around, we can slowly ease and calm things down.

This isn’t a good look.

I wanted Pioli gone all this while but like this? I’m not too sure.

My head isn’t thinking straight. I don’t know what to expect or decide now what I want.

ffs
both maldini and milan (and gerry) lost today, but we know who came out on top
