Bringing Carney in a Tomori-like deal, wouldn't be a bad idea. People who are familiar with him rave about him. Chelsea just have so many players, they had trouble running training sessions, lol.

Casadei looks like the next great Italian midfielder. Italy still is producing top midfielders and defenders. I would rather spend 20m on Casadei than Baldanzi.
Yeah Casadei is the REAL deal and would make a great midfield duo with Tonali. Tbh I’d be happy to sign either Casadei or Baldanzi although my preference is the latter who’s probably slightly cheaper too.

Still, if we DO end up selling Leao/Maignan to Chelsea, I hope that MF request Casadei in return as part of the deal.

Personally, I don’t believe that clubs of the stature of Milan+PSG would consider Thuram starting material. Instead, they probably view him as a great market opportunity to sign a quality rotational player for FREE who can be flipped for a profit in future (don’t forget that PSG hired Moncada’s mentor Campos).

This makes sense given that his numbers are solid but not at the same prolific level as Kolo Muani who could easily start for most top clubs. Therefore, I expect whoever signs him to buy a more credible starter too including us e.g. Openda etc.
The problem is the striker market is just so sparse. Who are the actual world class strikers out there? I defined "world class" as being top 10 in your position, in the world, but when I think of who would be top 10 striker... it's a pretty shallow pool.

In no order: Kane, Benz, Haaland, Osimhen, Lewa. Those are no doubts. Who do you put in after that? Lautaro? Lukaku? Giroud? Isak? Immobile? Vlahovic? Muani? I'm sure many of those names would be in that top 10, but it feels like they shouldn't be, y'know?

I don't count Mbappe as a "striker" he's more of a LW to me, but if you want to include Mbappe, then yes, he's up there with those top five, but still strikers are just... not around, they just aren't.

I think PSG might be starting a transition into a new phase, they also may be preparing for a post-Mbappe existence?

I don’t see any surprise tonight. Inter dynamic Midfield which overwhelms other (like us) won’t have that success today. They’d be “disarmed”…great energy but chasing shadows.
And 10+10 will be shitting his pants as usual when it matters.

This season Inter had our number like we had Napoli’s number….against other worthy opponents they’ll be exposed.

I don't think we're selling any of our big parts this summer, they're already under enough pressure as it is--but if we could buy Casadei, I'd actually play him more as our CAM, which would essentially mean we'd be playing a ^-shaped midfield three (so a 433, lol) and I think those three would be great.

Casadei has a great motor, I'd be delighted to see him here. If Baldanzi comes here, I hope he shines. It seems that both of them are Milan fans, so it'd be great if they both came here.

So this calibre of player is a "long shot"?

Fuck, that's grim...

Remember when we were able to drop proper cash on players like Leao, Theo, Ton, Mike, Tomori, Ben et all... Then that fucking Maldini cunt renewed them all on decent wages?

Now we can't afford free agents that are squad fillers...

Question, if we can't attract free agent squad players, how exactly do we attract starting quality future stars???

Seriously?

Asking for a friend...

These Pioli phone calls and analytics don't seem to be working guys....

You're comment saying these free signings are long shots really shows what sort of quality some of you are expecting.... And that's bleak as fuck man!!!

You don't give 6M net to a "squad filler" my friend. You leave the table and never look back.

If I was SD I wouldn't go beyond 4M for Thuram, and that's already a reach I'd be willing to lean into because he's free and because of Decreto crescita.

6M tho, in Serie A, is a super star wage you give to Leao, not to the young shot of the year from Mönchengladbach.

I’m not getting upset over players that we were linked to for the first time in the last week.

You may remember last summer, we weren’t able to close on Botman and Sanches. It happens, or Enzo & Muani.

Without knowing the details, I’m not going to blame the management team that has been in place less than a week to support an agenda.

I don't think the problem is with the new management. I mean Furlani was involved, behind the scenes even in Elliott Milan and Moncada also seems quite smart. The problem is with the resources Cuntinale and Redshit are making available to the management in order for them to do their job.

Even if Moncada is super smart, he's not going to make Milan a top European club with a 35 mil net mercato. Other big clubs like Liverpool and Man City also have smart people working for them as well as data analysts. What's the edge of Milan compared to them?

Thanks to Brahim.
No regrets there. 3 free season with a massive contribution.
Everybody won. Milan, Brahim, Real…

I’m not one to cry over spilled milk (and this is not) . Seeing his potential but most importantly his steady progression…it won’t be surprising to see him in a season or 2 or 3 take the next step…that’s when the narrative here will shift “we should have …” lol.

Thanks and Have a great career.

We move on!

So... the fact that we managed to renew all top players for below 5 m means that we can't spend over 5 m. This is top notch logic
oh we absolutely can

just like we can/could spend 100m this/last summer

problem is we won’t do it nevertheless. if you think this analytics/data driven management don’t have cap's for salaries, commission's and fee's, i don’t know what to tell you

This is what annoys me, you know that those phone calls didn't have the same context. You know that.

Ndicka cost a transfer fee when Maldini called. Now he's a free agent. Ndicka, like Kessie, had no intention of sacrificing his salary for a transfer fee.

And those phone calls can matter. Personal relationships do make a difference. Galliani was a master at this. No one is saying Maldini was flawless, but pretending that he didn't make an impact when it was time to make that call is... I dunno, I didn't expect you to make that claim.

And if even Scaroni said that they relied on that call to get the project rolling, then it's clear that it did make an impact. Klopp, Pep, Carlo, their faith in a player makes a huge difference.

You're telling me Mourinho isn't charismatic? Etoo ran his ass off for him, players still talk about his presence. Maldini is one of those figures.

So, uh, yeah, I think there's a difference between Thuram getting a call from Pioli and Maldini. Put it this way: you think there's a difference between Pep calling a player and David Moyes?

Come on.
I don't disagree but I think it's a different thing coming from a coach hence why I used the Thuram example

In sports, management is supposed to be somewhat distant so they can make the hard decisions

Coaches are the ones players have that bond with, the relationship is entirely different

Based on the 22/23 season and in NO particular order:- Camarda , Haaland, Benzema, Mbappe, Osimhen, Kane, Lewandowski, Muani, Martinez, David + Lacazette.

it's a real shame that, even tho I'm not a huge fan, there is ZERO reason we should be "behind" in negotiations for Thuram.

Underlines the huge issue that was going to go UNRESOLVED once again...

A player pioli actually wants, who was available, was not being targeted by maldini. Pioli has called the guy several times now to convince him. He wants him.

So why did we only start negotiating under new ownership?

Why? Cuz RLC and Arnautovic.
Pioli wanting a player makes him good? He plays Messias every fucking game and plays Diaz as a 10...i think its safe to assume that he has some flaws in his player assessment.

We're paying Leao 5m+2m in easy bonuses, though?

I need to stop wishing for Camarda to debut and then start scoring like 50 goals a season and put up like 1950's striker numbers for like 15 years straight.

Thank fuck

giving him 5m would have been a brutal start for the Moncada era

Villa tends to pay free players a lot. Remember last summer they overpaid the hell out of Kamara

Casadei is a confirmed Milanista? If so, sign him the fuck up (ditto for Baldanzi) because they’ll play their hearts out every single game and BLEED for the shirt which cannot be overlooked (just like Tonali).

However, his best position is @ CM (where he played for Reading this season) and he’s currently playing directly behind Baldanzi @ AM in the u20 World Cup where he’s been exceptional. Therefore, in that regard, the arrival of one WOULDN’T exclude the other.

but but Pioli called him and Furlani sent him a basket of company pens and an yankees calender :(
The few days after the sacking where everything was possible and reality was brushed aside are now over.

Before Maldini was fired I kept stressing we need to reverse the trend and get players in quickly and have a good prep, now its even more important.
Yes its still early and there is a lot of time but this new management team have to deliver on that early narrative they were pushing. They have to nail some transfers and get players in. When we resume for the friendlies we need to look very positive.

Any setbacks and it will be very difficult to start the season. Kjaer (if he is still here) and Mike will be very important.

The main thing will be not losing targets after long pursuits - I dont think we can have that because it will look very bad on them as nothing hasnt changed. Lets see how it unfolds.

Thats a different story.
You said they kept CDK despite firing Maldini.

Yes, because apparently Maldini's performance wasn't up to snuff anymore, according to whomever fired him. Same logic and sense of appraisal should apply to players. And "salvaging assets" doesn't matter when said asset is shit. All facts points towards dumping CDK at the nearest mid-table club.
