It seems Musah is a done deal. I am sad about it, I believe there are numerous midfielders who would elevate our game more. Musah is great at dribbling, but he has terrible defensive stats. Similarly we have RLC who is also great at dribbling, but sucks in defending. Then we Reijnders, who is a much more well rounded player than both, but it seems the weakest area in his game is also defending.
Pioli definitely had a huge role in our mercato. We are going all out on dribblers in midfield, trying to be a fast paced pressing and counter attacking team. It is a great weapon to have, but I feel like we are putting too much focus on this one aspect of our game. I believe unfortunately we are building a quite unbalanced midfield, where all players are too similar to each other. Rumours said that Hjulmand's agent proposed him to us, but we were not interested. He is not a dribbler, and significantly slower than Musah, and worse in transitions. But in every other aspect of the game, he is better than Musah, so for the rumoured 20mil price tag, I wish we would have gone for Hjulmand instead.
So far, my excitement level for our new signings are something like this:
1: Chuk - 10/10, he is our RW Leao, really excited to see him
2: Reijnders: 9/10, great box to box midfielder, he will have an important role for us next season
3: Okafor: 8/10, he is that fast, dynamic striker that we wanted ever since prime Rebic CF days, the player Maldini thought Origi could be
4: Pulisic: 8/10, great player, can play anywhere in attack, very versatile. Wouldn't question his ability, his skills, my only concern is his injury history
5: Romero: 7/10, I have a feeling Moncada found a Kalulu like gem in attack
6: RLC: 6/10, I was really against signing him. If our formation would still be 4-2-3-1, I would probably rate him 3/10, since he is a typical box-to-box midfielder, who is neither a DM or AM. Not gona lie, the fact he is not non-eu now, and we are planning to play in a 4-3-3 made me a bit more optimistic regarding RLC being a useful player for us.
7: Sportiello: 5/10, free, low wages, good for the lists, and a better Maignan backup than Tata. Hopefully Maignan will be healthy, and we will never see Sportiello play in an actual match.
8: Musah: 3/10, for the rumoured price, he is a really bad deal, and one that I think will flop for us. He seems like a marketing move, and american Bertolacci. He is still 20, so has plenty of room to improve, but currently he is a worse player than Pobega.
