While I have very little faith in Berlusconi, those two games were absolute must wins. Our management wants the club to be self-sustaining, and the only way to do that is for the club to have access to Champions League funds. Winning in Spain means that we are now in a much better position to advance to the Knockout Rounds, and winning at the San Siro against Roma puts us only 3 points behind the CL qualifying spots in Italy. It's possible that these two wins, both against highly regarded teams, will give us some momentum moving forward. We need fan support and we need the CL if we are to be successful moving forward. I do understand your point and it's a point that is echoed by many other fans. Still, the club absolutely needs access to those funds if we are to have any hope of getting reinforcements. The only hope I have, at this point, is for the club to bring in those revenues and essentially buy itself some new players in the next year or so, because we will not be getting any financial support from Berlusconi, and I do not expect the team to be sold.
I really do believe that Galliani thinks we need new players, though. His comments over the Cissokho deal sort of showed a divide between his position and that held by Berlusconi. At the very least, I think it's good to have two people (Leonardo is the other) within the club who understand that this club needs to be overhauled.
