Messi isn't this good like you all say he is. Barca's team that is extremely good, they keep the possession of the ball all the time, the midfielders are the best, they put balls to him in front of the goal all the time. The defenders are IMO. If a player like pato for example, was put in his position, he would do almost the same

1. There wasn't a serious challenge from Madrid's pathetic defence

2. I wish he would do stuff like that more often.

Yeah, I'd love to see him do that when Nesta and TS are in front of him. But it's still great stuff from him.

Just look how he plays for Argentina. Argentina doesn't has the same % of possession, doesn't have good defenders, and even worse full backs. He never plays well for them. Messi only plays well for teams that are excellent in every position and he keeps receiving great passes and sometimes he can even stop playing for a while to economize energy.

Not that I enjoy watching this tiki taka bullshit but,

because they can. They tire out the opposition who needs to sit in defence and thus can't be a threat forward. It's a very efficient way of playing and we can all see that looking @ Barca's results the last 5 years.

Its not a matter of obligation, it comes naturally, teams want to control the game and play at their own rhythm, and it gives them more confidence to have ball on their feet rather than chasing it for 60-70 minutes.
