Oh god, Fredrik etched 33 on a bear to honor Thiago Silva's goal!

I was happy when T. Silly scored, but cruelty to animals takes it to a whole new level :)

Ha ha, you're right, it is TS 33.

BTW, they are numbered and clearly marked just so they aren't shot again. The work is done from helicopter.

(And by "shot" I mean put to sleep to take blood/hair/teeth samples etc.)

In this area the bears were running around like a football team after a week. Numbered 1-17. Just like today's Milan they had a strong defence. Old midfield. Number 11 was never caught.

Here's TS on his back. This is a small 250-300 kg bear. Normal adult size is twice this.

I didn't know they marked those hirsute ursines (that's some fancy speak there ain't it?) that largely. I know about tags and all that but well it does make a world of sense if you're firing ampoules at them from a helicopter..makes using a pair of binoculars easier.

I want to believe it's like the true snipers..army snipers in the field, not some wannabe Marine/police/BATF sharpshooters..you have the spotter doing the trajectories, and the sniper himself. In this case the 'spotter' keeps track of the numbered bears while the 'sniper' gets the samples.

And this is when he starts to wake up. He does it from head down.
So for about 5 minutes his head is awake, but he can't move his body.
This is a good time to get the hell out of there.

Nice pics.

#3 has been posted before........thought it was an Artic fox then, but the dentition was a bit too much for a fox's diet imo.

It's not exactly easy shaking off blocked synaptic signals..opening up acetylcholine taps after re-absorption..

Shake it off bear.

I woke with pins and needles in my arm this morning..awkward sleeping position..I can relate.
