It's pretty much the same as race. Being black or white is not you , but you still will be affected if someone insulted black/white people. Why? You are black/white after all. A better example would be being gay/lesbian. If someone insulted gays and you are gay , then you'll feel the heat immediately. Why? Gay is your "way of living life".
Now, Religion it's a belief, and it usually becomes the focus of your life. So insulting a specific religion that a specific person follows would be not respecting his beliefs.(Bringing us back to the "Gay/Lesbian" issue.
It's funny that many blasted us out when we suggested a thing or two for Kuja when he admitted he was gay(I apologize Kuja if you thought I meant to insult you, it was never that case - I don't want to open the subject again..just giving an example..I'm sorry
). Yet, when (insert name) brings up a joke about a Catholic Priest it would be very "defensive-like" to ask him to stop such things.
I'm pretty sure if you look all over the forum, you'd see that the religious jokes keep coming from every while.
Of course, that's not the only reason Old Dru left. The forum has becoming worse for months now. Too much talk about "going gay for a player" rather than some football discussion. A joke once in a while is great, but having 2-3 pages of "of non stop ...man-love" is considered a tad too much.
Add to all that, some members can't enter into a discussion without feeling the need to attack the one they're having the discussion with. Only few can have a discussion that can last into 3-4 pages without insulting the opposite side.
I apologize for the wall post - can't say I've not been wrong on many cases and can't say I've not done "wrongs myself" - I just wanted to shed a light upon the idea why Drucurl decided to take a break. Don't call this being "defensive" , this is a point of view..and I believe everyone should respect it.
