The burden of proof is on the one making the accusation not on the one rejecting it. Making serious accusations about people, especially with things involving drug use is called
SLANDER and
LIBEL and can be dealt with via criminal prosecution.
Rejecting accusations from someone who has no fucking proof whatsoever is perfectly normal, acceptable behaviour. So no senatore and I aren't in the same boat. You have to also consider the credibility of the one bringing the charge...If, for instance, the one bringing forward the charge(s) is a known and admitted substance abuser, his/her charges would be taken infinitely less seriously
