I am watching the USA Brazil game and Pato is just a little guy! I can't beleive how tiny he is. Either he is small or the americans are huge.

He is 1m80, so pretty average. Taller, than pippo, seedorf, pirlo, gattuso, etc.

Afaik, tuttomercato ain't amongst the most reliable sources, but Pato going to Inter is quite logical, so I wouldn't be so surprised if it's true.

And why is a move to inter logical? :conf:
I'd say our chances of signing him are much better, seeing that kaka and ronaldo is his greatest idols. And if you were to pick between the current champions of europe, who has two of your biggest idols
OR
A club with a shitty atitude, and a scum player roster, who mainly won the Seria A because all the major rivals for the title had been handicapped.
The choice don't seem all that hard to me.

Okay, one player this season. But on the other hand, that player is not brazilian, and Pato is. And we have our way of lure the brazilians to our squad.

Inter will give the money required, to start with. Second, he knows he'll be in the starting eleven right away, while we are expected to pull a Gourcuff on him, leaving him to rot on the bench for a few seasons. Third, he won't be the first player Inter signed just before our noses (Ibrahimovic, Suazo). There's probably more, but here are the main reasons I wouldn't be surprised if merda manage to snatch him too.

And that thing with the Brazilians doesn't work anymore. Last time I checked merda had no Hondurans and Swedes. They used the old-fashioned way - money. We should also try it.

Something must be going on behind the scenes that's turned us into such cheapskates the past few years.

When you think about it, since 2005, have ANY of our offseason/January transfers really panned out? They've either been busts (Vieri, Oli, Amoroso), left to rot on the bench (Gourcuff) or just plain pointless (Grimi, Ba).

I'm not giving Ronaldo a free pass, either, until he earns his stripes in a full season of Serie A and the CL.

Well, they have: Ibrahimovic, Crespo, Suazo, Adriano and Cruz. I'm not sure how he is going to be in the starting eleven right way when they have 5 very good/decent strikers.

On our part, we just have Ronaldo, Gila and Pipo. I think he has a better chance starting in our starting eleven.

But the money will play a big part in this imo.

Yup, but we all know A hates young players and he won't get his chance in the next 1-2 years (or his "chance" will equal 4-5 matches per year). While in Merda, he won't be the first name on the sheet, but will be rotated with the other and, if proves his form, he'll get to play regularly.

Speak for yourself
If he is good he will play.Or maybe you expect him to be maybe bad but he should still play just for the sake of it?
You know I wouldn't mind Pato but only if another striker arives with him...
I mean he won't be available till January and till then we are just left with Gila,Ronaldo and Pippo....
Even after january I don't think he would be able to make a difference since it will take him +a year or two to groom...
So Pato +another striker YES...
Just Pato NO!

Are you calling Gourcuff not good?

Edit: He can be signed through the player+parents backdoor I think.

You said if a young player is good, he'll play, but will not if he ain't good and gave Pato for example. So, I take Gourcuff ain't good and that's the reason he didn't play last season, not because he isn't 27+yo?

What I say, is he didn't get a chance this season. This is what would happen to Pato, too, he's even younger.

Gourcuff got a chance, but he got injured.

Is that Ancelotti's fault ?

Kakà played even though he was young.
Gilardino played as well.

If they are good enough they play, Gourcuff would have played more if he hadn't got tha rib-injury.

Remember that Gourcuff also started against Athens in the UCL.

Gourcuff did play a fair number of games earlier last season before he got injured. I think he started in at least 3-4 UCL group stage matches. When he came back however, A. had finalized his best eleven and his direct competitor in A.'s system, Clarence, happened to be winning us matches. A. still gave him chances against Celtic when Clarence had a knock + brought him in as a sub against Bayern and United. So I think A. has handled him well ... maybe he'll try playing him in different roles this season, and if he can handle them, he'll have more opportunities.

On topic: Pato has been a disappointment for me. I hope he has had better games than the ones he played in Canada, since he looked decidedly ordinary. And the reason why we should pay more for him than what we paid for Kaka' ... I say, let the Chelseas + Inters and whatever spend ridiculously for their personal own Kaka'. Once they come to their senses, we'll step in and resume our Brazilian connections.

Well even with his injury Gourcuff managed to put 21 games behind his name this season...Is this little for a rookie in Seria A?
If it wasnt for the injury he would have even played more...
I'm afraid your arguments are weak....

Before the injury he was on fire..but afterwards he was a shadow of his former self and A. was forced to bench him.

I am afraid most of these games are coming as sub, if I am not mistaken. At least I don't remember him starting in Serie A that often (although he played quite regularly in CL group phase).

Kaka is an exception, Gila wasn't THAT young (can't compare 23yo and 17yo).

So what if the games were as a sub?Atleast he played a fair amount of games for his first season....
He started some games, got injured and after that Milan started picking up points and played good so it was harder for him to break into the first team.
Just saying Pato would not play just because he is young is stupid...
To comand a starting spot you need to prove yourself and push someone from the starting line up which is not a easy thing to do at any club...
So if Pato or whoever comes they need to perform so they play....
If he is worth he will play but he can't expect to start every game from the start....
But as Madherchot said he didn't impress at all at the Under 20 Championships which casts doubt over his ability...Maybe he thought too early that he is a star or something....

Man, your way of putting together an argument is non-excisting. You need to learn, when you put out a statement, you need to back it up with a logical argument.
I.e: You said pato would go straight into the starting 11 at inter. - nothing else. To me that statement gives me the impression of you don't have a clue what's going on with this case.

And this argument made no sense at all:
"And that thing with the Brazilians doesn't work anymore. Last time I checked merda had no Hondurans and Swedes."
Brazilians in our case, can't be compared with inter signing two players from entirely different countries! Milan don't have any Swedes or Hondurans either, but in this case(Pato) we are way more dominant with players with the same nationality. Pato himself has also stated that he would like very much to play alongside his favorite idols: Kaka and Ronaldo.

The games played as a sub are ones where he entered the pitch at ~80min and played for 10 minutes. If that's an enough chance... Granted, he was pushed from the first 11 bc of the injury but still, I wouldn't rate that amount of matches enough. Plus, Seedorf sucked during most of the matches, so there were room for his chance.

Anyway, it's not up to us to decide who we get or not. I hope we get him as 1) we would get at least a promising attacker 2) we would get a promising striker, along with the reject of the summer market we'll get. Either way, we win over nothing/the reject only.

@Fyrstnissen - Inter gave chances to their new signings last year (Ibra, Crespo) even though they had Adriano, Martins and Cruz in the team. We didn't rate our signings that good, although I admit they were much more disappointing than Inter's. That's why I am sure Pato will get his fair chance at the first 11 fast.

As for the "hondurans and swedes" stuff, my point was that having other players from the same nationality ain't that tempting as money and I'm not really happy we bet on this strategy. See, I don't believe Henry went to Barca to play with Giuly but rather for money. We should get out of that romantic stuff if we're to succeed in summer markets and not get more Oliveira's.

Have you cracked your head? Pato cannot get in the Inter starting 11 ahead of Ibra, Crespo, Suazo. And Cruz and Adriano would get more chances than he would.

Also Gourcuff played a good amount of times this season. Early on he broke into the first team countless times then he got injured and had a dip in form. Even when Seedorf etc. weren't performing, Gourcuff wasn't dazzling either. When he got back into any form, the rest of the midfield was firing, yet he still got his chances in Serie A and in the last minutes of some CL games. He's talented because he's played quite often unlike previous youngsters. 28 appearances for Milan in his first season in Serie A is good.

Do you even listin to yourself?! Are you saing that they GAVE a CHANCE to IBRAHIMOVIC and CRESPO!?!?!?! They are two of the best strikers in italy! Ofc. They get to play right away, because Inter knew how good they are! They are both miles ahead of Cruz, Martins and an out-of-form Adriano!
When we bought Ronaldo he became a starting 11 almost right away, so don't say we don't give our signings a chance.
@The nationality part: Please, for the sake of god, you need to stop trying to make your argument sound logical, because you can't just compare to other teams/players! It's a FACT that we get alot of brazilians because they want to player along side their fellowmen, and some of their idols from their home country! Pato HAS SAID that he would like it alot to play along side with his IDOLS Ronaldo and Kaka! It's a milan thing! We also see this with E.i. liverpool. My guess is among other things, that one of the reasons they were able to get torres was because of their "Spanish roster".

I thought you had reached rock-buttom in arguing, but you just flew past that buttom by miles. GOD!

Pato wins over AC Milan president Berlusconi

tribalfooball.com - July 09, 2007

AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi plans to step up their pursuit of Internacional de Porto Alegre starlet Alexandre Pato.

The 17 year-old forward has been watched by Berlusconi during the U20 World Cup, says Gazzetta dello Sport, and the Rossoneri supremo has told club officials: "This kid is great."

Milan attempted to setup a deal for Pato last year before the Toyota Cup, but have since dropped back in the queue behind Chelsea and Inter for the 17 year-old superkid.

Well, they obviously see something that I didn't during the tournament in Canada. Probably he's impressive during training; showing the qualities scouts look for in young players.

italians got screwed over with the lire becoming into the euro. the lire was very strong, one of the strongets currencies in the world like the GBP. but the euro fucked them over, prices are the same as before but the currency is much weaker, and the taxes have been incresed since then therefore the economy in italy has been going through very difficult times. it's not because we don't want, it's because we can't. Inter are only signing stars that are in Italy, (suazo, ibra, viera) etc. When was the last time a big name player was signed by inter, milan or juve that was a great star and in his prime that was signed from outside the peninsula. A very long time back. It's the economy in italy that is faultering.
however that does not hide the fatc that milan isn't buying quality players while inter and juve are. Milan is not willing to take risks like juve or inter because they believe they can win with the same set of players. And the fact is...they can. The core of the squad has been the same for just over half a decade, and milan is winning. teams like inter and real that change every year haven't won much.
I would still love to see some good players come here altogether though.

What are you talking about? The Lire was one of the worst currencies in all of Europe! As i remember, 100 lire was like 3,9 danish kroner! And Danish kroner is a pretty average currency in Europe. So I don't think that they got screwed over by switching to the euro.

as i said the lire was good for italians in italy. and if i am not mistaken, people made much more money. if you made lets say 2 million lire salary per year it would be equivalent to the salary of a midde class family in italy. i am not 100 % sure of this but I am sure enough that although the lire had a low conversion rate, the italians made more money. Berlusconi payed several billion lire to get rui costa, and I strongly doubt that one lire was equal to 1$ persay in regular currency. If not, then why the fuck isn't berlu paying billions to get players.
Use your logic mate, 3,9 danish kroner doesn't actually = 100 lire, because say your anual income is 50 00 kroner per year, someone with the same job as you in italy would at the time have taken in something like 1282051 lire .
trust me, all my cousins in italy told me they prefered the lira, the euro is too expensive for them.

Yeah, I agree.

But it's a fact prices have gone up since the euro was introduced. Here in Belgium and also in Italy probably. But that's all I know about it, so I'm not gonna comment on economical positions of Italian football company etc...

AC Milan chief Galliani admits keeping tabs on Pato

tribalfooball.com - July 11, 2007

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani admits they're monitoring Internacional de Porto Alegre superkid Alexandre Pato.

Galliani, asked about reports that he was set for a big transfer summit with president Silvio Berlusconi today, insisted: "This meeting doesn't exist. I speak with president Berlusconi daily and there's no need for such a summit.

"Pato is a forward, we like how he plays, we'll monitor him calmly, then we will see ..."

The kid showed nothing in the U20 tournament when i watched him. He seems like a solid enough player, but I didnd't see where all the hype is coming from.
