Yeah this has been a real mess in Sweden

It's not about journalists that have hated him secretly, it's more about certain type of people (bad type of feminists, which there are a lot of in Sweden) used one of his interviews to just talk bullshit.

It all started when Anders Svensson broke the record for NT caps for Sweden, and the Swedish federation gave him a car as thanks for the service. I might add that Svensson is retiring.

So all hell broke loose because apparently the still very active womens record holder have not gotten a car. The Swedish FA's explanation to that was that she's still active.

A couple of months passes, and Zlatan was pissed because Swedish media (Aftonbladet, mostly) and bunch of other twats had pissed on the celebration of Svensson. Which they totally did, it's not his fault that he got a car, they DEFINITELY could have handled it much better if they wanted to have an gender discussion. Anyway, a newspaper not named Aftonladet interviewed Zlatan, where this subject came up.

Zlatan first and foremost talked about how well the Swedish ladies had done, but he also said that it's ridiculous how the men and women are compared. He actually once got the question whether he or Schelin (best swedish woman player) is the better player. So he took a big dump on Swedish media, and also said that the women NT lives on the money the male NT makes (which is true).

Also, jokingly and in hindsight not very smart, he said that the women could get a bike with his autograph on and it was all gonna be good.

After that all hell broke loose, for nothing. Only in Sweden.

I agree. Thank you for explaining everything that I didn´t have the energy to do. The situation has blown way out of proportion.

It´s just that some reporters/journalist´s such as LAUL really tries to take advantage of the situation. He´s hated Zlatan ever since he got yelled at for that interview about Zlatan 10 years ago... you know the one that´s mentioned in Zlatan´s book. It pisses me off!

No, no one makes money playing for the NT.

Financial wise, womens football is just a cost for the football federation because very few watch it on tv or at the stadium for example. These costs gets paid with the money the male NT brings in. That was the point, I think.

fighting for a NT woman's prize car is first for some people, than it is to fight for other gender equality issues

Well "the womens's NT" didn't say anything... certain individuals did.

From everything Zlatan said (which was positive things about womens' football), certain individuals focused on the bike joke, which was a joke...

As for me saying tits or gtfo to Pia Sundhage... well, you're talking out of your ass again. I have no problem with women football. They can play all the football they want, I don't care. My problem with all this, just like Zlatan, certain people pick the wrong battles. "They" started all this when they shat on Svensson getting that car.

Judging from the article comments for example, even most women thinks all this is ridiculous.

Ok I was gonna come up with a big response but I think it is just mis-communication between you and me.

I was responding ragazza on her gender equality comment and wanted to point out it was more about an issue of respect for the woman's NT than any car or anything else really. And I found the Swedish NT coach's comments level headed and well written.

I actually agree with Zlatan with almost everything he said apart from the joke.

Dont make this personal though. I actually like you as a poster and we get along most of the times.

Yeah, Swedish FA didn't seem to have done much wrong. Would have been nice if they could have pointed to a goodwill gesture they made for the last women's record holder or something (if possible), but overall it looks something blown out of proportion. More so with Zlatan involved.
