He has had enough rest... he can make a come-back now. He would still play every game.

Forza paolo

I read somewhere that Braida is moving to Naples soon and Paolo may take up that director spot. Was in milannews long time back. That'd be cool .

I also miss him soo much. If he could just return and play again with the milan shirt :proud:
Now that Sandro is injured he could really make a comeback, I'm sure our defense would be amazing then.

But I totally agree that he should get an important role at Milan soon, he is our legend. One thing I would love to see is Paolo as Milan president, that would be the best :star:

It said that he might play but he might manage. That would be good experience for him, it would allow him to replace Leo down the road :)

It also said something about him trying to bring Raul to the Red Bulls, and there was a rumor a bit ago that Sheva and Materatazi were interested in MLS. that would be interesting too...

this seems to happen with every big name that retires from football. Just talk, I would assume..

it would taint his image. he left serie a in a blaze of glory. and only ever played for one team. joining new york red bulls. would remove his image as a 1 club man and make it look like he moved for money.

money? he has plenty I'm sure, and if he needed some Berlu would give it to him. If he does it sounds like he, like many other great ones, cant stand being retired . If he wants to play that badly, he would be amazing as a third centerback, so much better than what we have now, but hopefully he can just stay retired. If the Red Bulls offer him the manager spot, he should take it, get some experience so he can come back here some day and take over when Leo decided to leave

yea i agree the first couple years in retirement is devastating for a footballer. Zidane went through this too as he was linked with many MLS clubs. Like i said though, I highly doubt there is anything behind this.

I could see Maldini wanting to go to America, his kids are still young. I don't believe he will every play for a club other than Milan.

Is Red Bulls qualified for the Concacaf's CL? If so, yes, I want him to play there, in fact, I'll root for Santos or Puntarenas to become champions and play against the Red Bulls...to see Maldini play in there, the absurdity of him playing there is too much (hopefully a 12:00 md game :D ). Of course that's not gonna happen, and since he is Paolo Maldini any team would move that game to the new stadium even before it's inauguration.

no it wouldn't. You know how many one club legends have moved to semi-retirement leagues (like MLS) at end of there career?

It'd be 1 thing if he went to play even for a lower tier English or Spanish side... it's another going to MLS or dubai or japan. Maybe he wants to live in NYC (he visits new york and miami quite often) and just wants the experience, can't blame him.... we can't keep the guy chained to milan forever. He will always be the number 1 idol of milan irregardless...

About the MLS,it's interesting...... Each club is only allowed to have 1 designated player (well actually you can appeal for 2, and in ny red bulls case they'd get it). Designated player is a player who makes over there salary structure (over $400k per year) which maldini would surely get. Beckham is 1, blanco in chicago, ljundberg is in seattle... juan pablo angel was for red bulls.

Because of New York, the league is desperate to have a "BIG" star in NYC similar to beckham in LA. Still it'd be interesting for it to be a defender. Typically all the DP's are attacking players... Raul would make sense, Henry is the most rumored one, as he's stated he'd like to come to MLS after his barca contract is up in 2011. But Maldini to NYC would make sense too as there is a huge italian population in the new york area.... I always envisioned Pippo or Del Piero (ADP has been heavily rumored before too..) going TBH.

i really can't imagine maldini playing with another team...i can imagine him managing/coaching for another team though

i think that would be good experience for him...i imagine after a year or two of retirement he'll begin to get antsy. managing/coaching would be a good choice for him

p.s. i miss you still :(

What the fuck ... last thing we can do is ask him for more commitment to Milan. He can do whatever he wants, IMO ... taints nothing. Absolutely nothing.

I'd be super excited to see him play again and I could go and watch him live. :)

With his high defensive standards, he can shut down MLS players without training much and just maintaining some fitness :D

I read this rumours and laughed it is still amusing to me Maldini has passed up the opportunity to play with the likes of zidane ronaldo figo so that he create a legacy at Milan i can't see him risking that legacy so that he can play against the likes of donovan.

still if he did i would bare him no ill will i respect the man too much beside after those half wits booed him at his last game at the san siro he is justified to wear another shirt. i would prefer him to become a coach in the primavera and create defenders good enough to wear the number 3 shirt.

Recent rumours have claimed that AC Milan legend Paolo Maldini (42) was close to coming out of retirement to join the New York Red Bulls.

However, his father Cesare Maldini told TMW earlier today : "The rumours regarding Paolo are unfounded, there is nothing true about it. He is spending time with his family now and he might return to football one day only as an executive".
