He's an old fart with too much power + preventing squad rejuvenation. You're free to be his personal ass-kisser though. Enjoy :o
Has anyone ever said you'd make a good reporter or lawyer for that fact?
No, not because you're an intellegent TROLL but because your good at bullshiting. =)

Why did you fail comprehension in English?

It seems you find it difficult to distinguish a compliment and an excuse?
Not bad for a team that are in sixth place and are considered to be battling relegation. Even with our 8 points back we wouldn't be ahead of them. So what are you saying about Milan then?

Besides Maldini knows more than anyone else around here if they are good players or not, considering he is a player. =)

Yep I think they can, we should continue to blame the management + the age of our side, hey thats what you do, yeah? Hmm oh I thought you weren't one to make excuses...

I respect maldini but its kinda sad that he has to make up this thing to protect the ****** management who dont do there job.U get me ?:)

Maldini reveals quit plans

Tuesday 21 November, 2006

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Milan captain Paolo Maldini is set to retire from football at the end of the season, according to the latest reports in Italy.

The Rossoneri symbol is in his 23rd campaign with the club, a new record in Italian football as the previous best was Silvio Piola’s 22, but it may also be his last.

Maldini, who will turn 39 next year, is still suffering with knee problems which haven’t been solved by the surgery he had in Belgium at the end of the last campaign.

“Things are not going well,” said the captain to some friends, according to Il Corriere dello Sport. “Both knees hurt and it isn’t easy to train this way.

“I have played some good matches recently, but the situation is not that positive for the future. At this point in time I think I will retire at the end of this season,” added the Rossonero.

The legendary stopper has made 591 appearances in Serie A so far, winning seven Scudetti with Milan.

He was capped 126 times by the Nazionale over 14 years, an all-time record in Italy, ending his Azzurri career on June 18, 2002, in the 2-1 World Cup defeat against South Korea.

Maldini has not yet decided on what he will do after he hangs up his boots, but he doesn’t seem keen on following his father’s example and becoming a Coach.

“To say the truth, I haven’t thought of what I will do after I stop playing football,” Maldini has stated in the past. “But in any case it’s too early to think about it.”

Hmmm by the way he is playing, it doesn't seem like he is having any trouble.
Only time will tell.

C'mon, with all the respect, it's about time to make this.
He will always be a Milan legend and I'm sure he will continue at ACM, but not as a football player.

Guys, for all the respect I have for your admiration of probably the best Left Back in football history, you have to admit certain facts.

1) If all our defenders were fit, Ancelotti wouldn't select Maldini in his starting lineup. Fact is, he is considered a backup to Nesta, Kaladze or Janku/Serginho in Ancelotti's eyes.

2) If we had newer, younger, quality defenders, our team’s current weak point (defense, since we've started scoring) would have more depth. Nesta and Kaladze are now a far cry from a 28-30 year old Maldini. Probably its time they took Maldini's role as 'backup' should newer stronger defenders arrive and they continue with their bad run of form. I miss the days when scoring against Milan was next to impossible.

3) He should gracefully step down when his contract expires because he, Cafu, Serginho (although we haven't seen much of him) and Costacurta are not fit enough to play 90 minutes during a season. Just look at Lippi's Italy: all his subs were forwards or attacking mids since he didn't have to sub out his fit defenders - a trait Ancelotti seems stuck with.

IMO, we should get Lahm (dont know how he's been playing), two good young center backs (like Toure, Barzagli, Alex, Cris, Cacapa) and Eboue or Alves. Enough of playing second fiddle. Come summer, B has to fork out and get young quality players albeit (most importantly) with experience on the big stage.

I think it'll be a sensible decision. I hate nothing more than watching him embarassing himself on the field, even after trying twice as hard than all the others. His lack of pace is irreversible, and I'd love nothing more than Maldini going out on a high. God knows he deserves it.

woah, woah, wooooah, maldini can still match the best without a doubt. he may not be as fast as he was but he is definately not slow or embarrising. he is an inspiration and a supreme player. I think maldini should retire whenever he decides to and I fully support his descion because he is a legend and has achieved greatness. It's gonna be wierd for a bit not having Maldini's name in our team, but Christian is on his way. I remember whenever i used to get in arguments with my friends about football and about all the best players i just said "yes but milan's paolo maldini" FORZA PAOLO MALDINI

well, personally i think this is a reasonable decision for him
he's playing now for 20 years, and he had a really great career, he's 38 now, and he can't play at the same level as he did before, especially with those knee injuries, so it's not such a big surprise that he's not going to play anymore after the end of this season
it was good to have him here
Forza Paolo!!! ;)

Forza Grande Capitano! :star:

It's a good desicion, we want him to be remembered for his great performances, not embaress himself on the field...

But we need to win something for him, he is unlucky because of the Calciopoli shit

Very true. He is the reason I started supporting Milan, and I only want him to leave with his head high. I've always promise to myself that I will go to a Milan game before he retires, and I'm willing to keep that promise, don't know how, but I'm gonna do it (nice chance to say good bye to Billy too).

It's the cartliage thats screwing him over. Those things you can't fix. It's the same case with League players in Australia. The cartliage wears out due to the amount of running + training till the point where its bone on bone. It all depends on how long he can keep it sweet.

Aslong as he goes out winning something. Though fairytales don't always seem to happen. It would suck elephantitis balls if he was to retire this year with everything that has happened pre and current season.

Paolo Maldini spoke to Milan Channel ahead of the Champions League tie at AEK Athens and discussed his future. The captain said: 'Everything is going fine at the moment. I am playing consistently and that was in my head at the start of the season. I am pleased at the moment.

'There is no problem in renewing by contract, it something I will think about in June even if I might retire. That could change, anything could happen. At this stage of the season this is my idea.

'I will be 39 in June and it's past pensionable age for a player, but I don't want to look at this problem, neither renewing or retiring. What keeps me at the highest level is doing my best and having the desire and want.'

Seriously, Maldini is the only player i don't want to see retiring or leaving Milan. I don't care about any other player leaving Milan as much as I do about Maldini. Sheva went, kaka can go, nesta can go, prilo can go, the whole team can leave Milan, but when Maldini does, I'll be very sad. I really don't want the time to come when he retires, I don't know what I will do.

I want him to continue on for at least two more seasons after this one, even though that might be hard. Taking Maldini away, is taking away a chunk and piece of Milan.

we must start a petition at petitiononline.com for Maldini to stay a few more seasons...

when Maldini retires, i dont care what the occasion, i will be wearing a black armband with '3' in red on my left arm for probably a month all the time...

and i think one of the biggest enigma's will be answered. i have never seen Maldini cry, never ever, 94 final no tears, euro 2000 final no tears, istanbul 05 no tears.

retirement 20xx, tears? if he doesnt cry, i know i will be...

I just had a quarrel with my friend an Inter supporter
I have tried to prove something to his stubborn brain that they are much much behind us in this 20 years and i forgot to tell him that they need the real leader like we have
