Should be Kaka playing as a CAM or RWAM?

This thought just crossed my mind...Why in the hell we and everybody else see Kaka as a perfect Central Attacking Midfielder when in the truth he will better suit us on the flank, a la Arjen Robben? With his speed and ability to pass ONE player at the time he will make a difference as Arjen does for Chelsea. This situation will leave us with classic 4-4-2, rather then spearhead 1-2 but the advantage is enormous... For the whole season 04-05 Kaka was struggling to pass more then one player...After he easily passed the first one, the second or the third jumped to his feet and took the ball. This is the "overhaul", not kicking out other players but changing the tactics and players position to take the full potential of their abilities.

Nooo man you don't know what you're sayin' Kaka is a lot better if himself can make the game just don't let yourself get carried away with some very good wingers cause Kaka will always be an Attacking Midfielder

Kaka can play where the coach want's him to play. He's got the ability to play everywhere on the pitch. His crosses are always with the same accuracy from right, left or central miedfield. You rember the winning assist agains't roma for sheva from the right flank that gave Milan the Scudetto from the right flank, then the one agains't Psv in the second leg for Ambro from the left flank that send Milan to Istanbul, plus many more assist and goal's from right, left or central part of the field. He can even play as deep playmaker instead of Pirlo or Seedorf on the left flank, or why not a ball winer instead of Rino. He's got it all.

no way.

kaka needs to be in a position to influence, and that's right in the middle. he's a classic playmaker...istanbul proved that.

He's ***Brazilian*** They all, the 7-9 attacking players per team that is, like to do their lil passing show in the center, the flanks are covered by their fullbacks ;)

I don't see him as a playmaker either. I'd turn him into a striker

Kaka is not a classic playmaker but in Milan's curent system he doesn't have to be because he has Pirlo behaind him who influences the play as much as any other playmaker in the world.Kaka is better suited for that central position because he can shoot and pass much easier from there then from the flanks and has much more influence on the game.He gets to the flanks often enough and puts in quality crosses but there is no need to limit him just to one side of the park.We should just get Robben and then we wouldn't have to worry about Kaka playing on the left :D

The problem however is that we know how he should play and what he should do, but if we will take the last season as the example, he is stack in the middle. He is not the type who can dribble past 3 players on 1 sq. m. His power lies in his ability to run, and then he is unstoppable. The moment other team closes the center, Kaka is in trouble. Liverpool - 2nd half. Whole season - Seria A.

not only is kaka better in the center for passing , but also for scoring goals. if the two forwards miss then kaka should be there to finish the job. right now im thinking about the goal against depor 03/04 the one that cafu made the center and kaka stoped the ball with his right thigh and then scored. that center was probably intended for sheva or jdt but kaka was there in the precise moment. kaka has alot of creative qualities at least he is more creative than ronaldihno but by making him play on the flanks i think we limit his scoring abilities.

yeah, you're right. he isn't a 'classic' playmaker...but he's most effective in the center.

He doesn't have to dribble past 3 players he should focus more on passing the ball sooner or playing one touch football, which he can do and that would make him even more effective.A playmaker isn't someone who dribbles a playmeker should be the one that pulls the team together, who sees open spaces and exploits them, who always passes to the man who's in the better position.Kaka's problem last season was that he was trying to dribble 2 or 3 guys in stead of playing like a playmaker.Simple, quick, direct play that's what will make him even better in the future. When the other team closes the center thats when he has to move to one or the other flank and open them up and bring the rest of the team into the game.Dribbling won't help him then but quick, direct passing and movement will and that's when Kaka is at his best playing direct and with pace using his technique.

kaka is a great talent as most of u think.
he is better playing at center coz he will have more space to move + he will have more choices to pass + closer to the goal as he an also can score.

kaka , coz he is still young , is good almost always after milan score.
as the other team will attack & kaka will have more space.
he is great with the counter attack with his speed.

kaka's weakness is when he is under presure.
when the other team is closing down + putting presure.
when milan is 1 goal behind.

IMO , kaka will be better when he is more mature to deal with such presure & then we will see the best of him.
i think next year will be better for him.

If he played on the right or left he would only have the wingback to provide coverage for him. In the center of the park he has Pirlo + 2 central defenders to play defense for him when he looses the ball. If he played winger we'd have to play defense himself and he can't.

Besides, do you really think it would be wise to play Kaka and Cafu on the right? The would leave us with little to no coverage at all. He either has to play in the middle or as a forward, so that we don't have to rely on his defensive abilities.

we don't field kaka in offensive positions so we don't have to expect him to defend. the guy kinda has a habit of creating, entertaining, and scoring...maybe that's just a coincidence?

I agree with someone here that Kaka should play like a 'shadow' striker. His dribbling can create some problems and deliver the last pass for the other striker.

However if the partnering striker is Sheva, then this won't work since Sheva is also good at dribbling and creating chances, so if both are running around, no one will wait for their pass.

His current position is (IMO) perfect for him, his speed and dribbling will suit Milan style. However, I see in recent Brazil games at Confederation cup or WC Qualification, he's not very effective in the creative midfield role since Ronaldinho is the reigning master there.

But in the game vs Mexico when they trailed, I noticed that Kaka took over the creative midfield role while Ronaldinho shifted to the left and use his dribbling ability to unlock the defense.

I don't know, judging from the last season and not the previous one Kaka is stuck when he plays in the center against all defensive teams. If you want a better comparison an Andrey Kanchelskis would be a model figure. Another Dinamo Kiev man btw.

But now they knew they had to hold him and don't get blinded by glasses cause he's still an important player he may not make many goals but if you count the assists ;) So DON'T JUDGE TO QUICK

Keeping the tread alive...

Here somebody else's thoughts about Kaka performance against Mexico a few days ago. I found this person thoughts mirroring my own, so here you go:

Kaká (AM) 4.5

Although he started off well, putting together some moves after the initial Mexican blitz died down, he was unable to withstand the even-tighter Mexican marking and floated around the park like a ghost for most of the game. The defensive midfield mess behind also put him off his stride, but he needs to develop the ability to impose his quality in all circumstances.

http://www.goal.com/NewsDetail.aspx?idNews=68758&idSez=1

This performance is not only mirriring my thoughts but also mirroring Kaka's performance in the last season.

The solution is either a complete tactical overhaul next season or simply moving Kaka to the side.

no, the solution is having a little patience when someone has a game to forget.

He had a pretty useless season - if I were Ancelotti I would have played Rui Costa over Kaka in at least 1/4 the matches if not more. But as we all know Ancelotti doesn't change the players or formations.

I still thought Kaka displayed some good touches against Japan (the only Brazil game I watched, probably not the best example I know), particularly when he was limiting himself to 1/2 touches per ball. That long-ball control when he hit the post was one such example.

The bad news is that he needs space for one-touch football. LOL, it was weird, him being so tall & all & struggling for possession against a midget Japanese marker. :D

Actually Dhorasoo might've been even better in those 1/4 matches. But you're right on 2 counts. 1) that Carlo should be challenging him more; 2) that he won't.
---

LOL, check this out. No wonder he can't handle 'close' marking ! :D ;)

kaka, even when off form, was/is potentially more effective than dhorasoo and rui costa in every single game we had this past season..i don't blame carlo for sticking with him. what would kaka learn by sitting on the bench? he's only played against european defenses for 2 seasons...every game he plays he gets more experience..experience he'll be able to utilize next season when he encounters stifling defenses etc.
