Simon Verdi: "I dream of the number 7 of Milan"

A dream called Milan, Turin, called a reality. Two very different schools, but at the same time, training with the aim to grow and establish itself in the court of a master of football as Giampiero Ventura. Walking through Turin with the innocence of a nineteen year as Verdi's Simon gets excited when he remembers his first audition with the Rossoneri to the microphones of TMW Magazine:

"When I arrived the first time at Milan, already all the children playing there, watching me in a somewhat 'strange wondering, perhaps,' I wonder how this child? "The fear of scrutiny by others and, at the same time, the awareness in their transport from an early age:" I remember I did the first game winning eleven to zero at the end of the coach asked me if I wanted to go play with the team as early as January or if I wanted to finish the season with my club. I decided to finish the championship with my team. "

Introverted as ever, as is typical of Pavia, lights up and gets excited when he starts to tell his story: In the first year of Stroppa, with the relaunch of a youth center, you have found the center of the vortex. What did it mean for you this time?
"I had arrived in the first year of Spring, in a difficult situation because they had to do was to decide whether to stay with the Caps, or older kids where I would have had to sweat the place. It was an audition for me to go on retreat with the Spring and it took everything I had inside because I wanted to stay in a team more important than the Caps it was a different league. Many of the 1992 generation as I am, De Sciglio, Merkel and Ghiringhelli, we wondered if we had space and we have removed a lot of satisfaction by winning the Italian Cup Spring ".

Do you remember your first goal at San Siro?
"I remember it all right (laughs). Strasser recovered the ball in midfield and I, who was playing off right in theory, I was behind Zigoni almost central position, however, starting from the left. I turned and pointed the door. "

What it means to be Simon Green as a player of Torino in Turin than when you were in Milan?
"When I walk through the city did not recognize me in many, indeed almost anyone. Do not feel much pressure from the weight of people, indeed, are very calm and very quiet and this makes me live peacefully this wonderful experience. Of course, wear this shirt is a source of pride and have a curve like the Marathon, which will support always has an incentive to do well even though my dream is to one day get to play with AC Milan and the jersey number 7, my favorite, on the shoulders. i was now gonna say that we can bring him back next summer and let him play with El Shaarawy. let them grow together, and then **** the world together when they get older...wishful thinking? of course. a month doesnt sound too bad. but i hope for a speedy recovery. i hope it's not any broken bones.

TBH as a fan I would find broken bones more preferable after seeing recurring muscle injuries wrecking Pato's career.

Verdi and El Shaawary is a nice idea, but I doubt it will happen with all the rumours about Maxi Lopez and Tevez, We just don't have enough room for attacking talent.

Most of our youth are ready to play for us but because of our pathetic management, they probably won't.

Currently injured. He has been playing as a sub( he's not always on the bench though, sometimes he doesn't make it to the bench).

Any updates on Verdi? We still own half of his rights, correct?

He played Torino's last match in the league (since they had already qualified to Serie A), and according to reports he was good. He barely got any minutes at Torino, and is expected to go on loan next season again to another Serie B club.

I think injuries were a big part. he played a lot at the start of the year, got hurt and missed a lot of time and didnt seem to get his place back.

Are there any updates to him? I still can't believe what happens with him at the moment. I saw videos of him, he's such a big talent, he's about as good as El Shaarawy. But it is hard to compare because Verdi played so little for Milan.

As good as El Shaarawy? What planet are you living on? Verdi has been very poor with Torino ever since we gave half his rights to them. Watching random ass videos on YouTube showing skills or what not doesn't make him a 'big talent.'

Sorry I said it wrong. I meant, at the time when he was playing for Milan, I thought he would get a very good player in the future. And I thought the same of El Shaarawy last season. The situation is different now, El Shaarawy has even exceeded the expectations and Verdi has been poor at Torino so far. And so I'm asking what happened with Verdi. ;)

I see, thanks for your clarification. As for Verdi as we speak, he has impossible competition for Ventura's two wing positions. In fact, Ventura's been playing a CDM, Vives, as LW for w/e reason. This, all while Verdi's been match fit. It just shows that Torino+Ventura=Verdi with no play time; which is sad, as Verdi does have potential, but he's floundering atm with zero playtime.

Obviously he needs to go on loan in January. I guess there could be some offers from Serie B at least?

Young players should be prevented to face such problem so that they can grow faster with note that there should always be competition for getting games from the coach.

A B team, reserve team or whatever it is called that played regularly in a League could limit such problem.

Any newest news about such competition in Italy?

The last news was that Rivera and Baggio were going to try to start a reserves league; however, this idea was scrapped for a reason I can't remember. Both are still pushing for a solution, such as B teams that would play in Serie B.

Thanks.

Reserve league IMO is also good option since the kids would play with seniors who are not used (called up) for the upcoming games although most of players in this league are very young players (with less experienced players involve compare to lower-level League).

I think, B teams playing in Serie B seems unrealistic except all teams start playing in very low level (Serie D?) and compete to get a couple of spots in higher level league if they manage to win or achieve top positions in the respective league, something like in Spain. I also like this model as the team could play in Serie B (= should be more competitive than reserve league) if they keep winning (or getting top positions) in the lower-level league they are playing in.

B teams would be best in Serie B, as about a quarter of the teams in Serie B this season are rather poor. Such B teams would help fill out Serie B, if you ask me.

That's not doable... Serie B got 22 teams already, how do you accommodate potentially 20 more?

I think it would be fair (and needed) to start the B teams in D or Lega Pro B... They can work their way up while getting better organized.

I would prefer the sistem from PL with Reserves league. Good thing is that there you can move players in and out of the team as much as you want. Great for players coming from injury and also good enough for young talents to develop. If you would have B team playing in Seria B/C you couldn´t do that.

Anybody notice him?
Almost on par speed with abate. Pretty good with the ball too, looks like he's graduated from la masia. lol.
Still lack of strength and vision tho. A mature version of him would be an ideal replacement for Robson.
