Itachi saw through his deception... but was helpless to stop lord orochimaru knowing that he has like a billion people carrying his DNA ... He is clearly the ultimate mastermind... The oldest introduced villain in naruto still alive? Will probably outlive all other sanin me thinks.... cuz he is just that damn good.

Itachi helpless against orochimaru? rly? orochimaru was a man bent on collecting as much jutsus as possible. these are his own words. then when he was paired with itachi in akatsuki he began to salivate over the sharingan, which itachi firmly put an end to and made orochimaru shit his pants.

"Before my eyes, all your jutsus are powerless."

Orochimaru couldn't handle Itachi. Not on a good day, or a bad day. Which is why he turned his attention to the next best thing; petty Sasuke. years from that point, we know how that ends. Orochimaru gets pwned.

being a sannin no longer means much in naruto. jiraiya was killed by his own former student, who later went on to become a victim of talk no jutsu. orochimaru got absorbed by sasuke. (pwned one time) then got sealed away by a half dying itachi (pwned again)

tsunade prolly is the only one that still gives meaning to the word sannin.

not rly @ nagato. he ate up all of Tobi's bullshit. the attack on the leaf was to retrieve the kyuubi, as per Tobi's instructions. because he believe the eye of the moon plan will bring peace. it was not that the destruction of konoha would bring peace. and quite frankly, of the two, the eye of the moon plan would be the only one that would bring "peace" he just wanted to find naruto, and had to be all emo about it.

yea orochimaru bringing back kages and shit, at the behest of sasuke. rly? playing 2nd fiddle to a lil bitch like sasuke? orochimaru lost his arms to an old man and seduces little boys to come to his lair. my guess is he has a way with his tongue but who knows...

itachi is rolling in his grave @ your comment. or something like that.

if itachi had never gotten that illness, sasuke would never had been able to defeat him and the manga would have ended a long time ago perhaps. because no illness means, a chance of itachi standing up to tobi.

that is how good itachi is. and always will be. there is no one in naruto that can compare to him. if you saw naruto anime, and read the manga, and still don't see it, then I just cant help you.

I dont think thats how it went. Nagato had no clue about the moon's eye plan AFAIK. That is why he kept repeating about having monopoly on war by gathering tailed beasts.. creating destruction... people will come to know pain... and stop... so he did want the world to burn to bring peace.

And orochimaru has been doing this because he said "this isnt my war" or something of that sort. He really has no interest in being under genjutsu. But he can control each hokage other than hashirama which I found a pretty impressive feat. He also knew how to bring them back to life unlike his underling kabuto.

I don't think Itachi can stand up to tobi if hashirama is feeling cornered. And hashirama is the biggest thing to happen to the manga since sage of six paths. So that is a massive stretch there. I remember hashirama saying itachi is better than me but I am assuming he meant his sacrifice is bigger... not power.

Itachi is obviously more powerful than orochimaru but at the end of the day his role has been limited to his brother and secondly protecting the leaf from akatstuki. So in a way his role in the series has more or less ended. Orochimaru on the other hand is playing a far more direct role in deciding the outcome of the war.

And imo is starting to bigger an influence on the series.

I see. Well, firstly, I stand corrected. and the bold part is true. that is what happened. however, when I think about it now, Nagato couldn't be further from the joker mentality that you claim he has and you were closer to it when you said destroy konoha = just want to watch world burn.

I just don't think nagato's mentality thoughts and actions embodies anything at all in comparison to the joker mentality. and the argument was initially about orochimaru having this mentality. lolol. if it is possible to be more wrong about that, you are. you are mistaking a war merchant for indescribable, incurable evil. you're drawing a parallel between the ruby story and the war monopoly when in fact it's more tangential to each other.

like redman said, there is no one in Naruto with that mentality. When I think about it now, perhaps the series would have benefitted from such a villain.

instead we have ppl like Nagato and Obito, who are grown men, carrying the grudges and sorrows of little boys, because one's village stinked to high heaven and the other's crush was killed though it was of her own will..

I have nothing to discuss with you regarding Itachi.

idk man. he just looks like fan service now to me (meaning this real emo, apparently super strong god tier guy that everyone will be like "oooooooooooooooooooooo what a badass" when they see him)

personally that's not exciting at all and he's still sucking imo. he seems very cliché.

His face in the last page seemed så badass. Kinda reminded me of gaara in the chinin.
But yea I don't like and it annoys me the fact that obito is suddenly the strongest ninja in the narutoverse. It would have been better if it was madara or even orochimaro (even though he isn't evil anymore?) who absorbed the juubi
