I think the idea that Camarda isn't developing fast enough at 18 to be unfair.

He's a true center-forward. It takes time for players in central positions to develop.

Look at Harry Kane's record before he broke out at 21 with Tottenham. He was not setting scoring records in the lower leagues.

Not everyone is going to be R9 or Van Basten who can be incredible at 17... and that's okay. It doesn't mean they have failed or that they are failing.

Does that mean Camarda will be the next Harry Kane? No, but you could have written off Kane at Camarda's age if your only metric is goals. Yes, that is the striker's job, but most of the all-time great strikers did not start banging in goals at 17. When they're younger you want to see if they understand the fundamentals of the position, which are centered around movement, off-the-ball runs, distribution and hold-up play. It's why Pippo is such a great striker to study, who didn't break out in Serie A until he was 23, mind you.

If you want to bet against young players making it, the odds are going to be overwhemlingly in your favor. It doesn't make you some supreme evaluator of talent, the vast majority of youth players will fail. Again, I'm not arguing that Camarda is a predestined, we don't even know if he'll get to the level of Cutrone--the point is that it is way too soon in his development to write him off.
While I agree with you fully - that’s it’s too early to write him off - we have been following him since he was 13-14 and setting all kinds of absurd records.

While he is only 18, which is nothing especially for a CF - I think we all thought he’d be better by now. Maybe we got spoilt by Pato.

If we take the emotion out of it - has he really done anything even remotely impressive in the last 3 years? He was OK in primavera, OK in Futuro, and then a horrible loan move to Lecce (which admittedly isn’t his fault).

I fear we are holding onto his exploits in the u15 categories rather than anything he has done against grown men. I don’t sit and watch Camarda videos but is there anything really that special about him?

Again, I really truly hope I’m wrong - I would love for Camarda to become the next Van Basten - I’m just struggling to see the evidence behind the elite ceiling that many talk about.

MilanNews reports that Tonali views Comotto as a younger brother and left him a message with one word: "correre". run. Don't know if if's just a friendly advice or if he believes that Comotto needs to run more.

I think he can play as one of the two behind the striker but also as CM or box to box. Currently our biggest prospect and hope that he turns into a top player type.

I'm still nursing the hope he was played there for the same reason Gila lined up centrally in the back three rather than as an actual RCB, because he had to field two teams and right now there's literally only one natural RB at Milanello, Athekame.

Then again, I remember people copium-ing the exact same way last year when I predicted Allegri had zero intention of playing Leao as a SS and would use him as a proper CF instead. So I might be walking straight into the same trap here lol.

What still gives me a bit of hope though is that the reports about Amorim wanting a left-footed AM haven't slowed down at all, which would suggest he sees Chuk more as a backup RAM, with the right-footed Pulisic, Nkunku and Cisse all fighting it out for the left side.
hand-on-shoulder.png

Wouldn’t this be all the more season to play Chuck at RAM in training?

Personally, I hate the inverted wingbacks thing. We need someone to provide width
You would think, but it looks like Amorim is looking to turn Chuk into Amad.

To be fair to Amorim, he switched Chuk to LWB in the open training session, which wasn't reported on as much as the fact he played RWB.

Amorim's tactics--from what we've seen at Sporting and Man Utd--is using wingbacks on their strong side (left footed LWB, right footed RWB) to create that width and to utilize them to bang in crosses. Sometimes he has made that an asymmetrical look, but that was usually with one of his wingbacks being defensive and the other more offensive while one AM was really a winger and the other was more of a true AM, so maybe he's playing around with that asymmetry with his wingbacks instead of his AMs?

I'm trying to be nice to him, as I just loathe everything about the 3421.

Amorim will deserve a status if he turned Chuk to a decent WB.

He is nothing special at 18? What is the metric for him being special or not?

We kept bouncing him around between the first team, primavera, and Futuro and then we sent him to Lecce to struggle, which might be good for him, but if you're going to judge him based on goals, alone, then yes, at 17 he didn't score a lot for a team fighting relegation. He had bad matches, but he also had matches where he showed that he understood how to play the position, very well, in fact.

When we played him with his age group, he would light the competition up. Look at his scoring record with U17s, 11 goals in 17 matches; U19, 6 goals in 10 matches; U21, 4 goals in 4 matches.

I'm sorry, I disagree. I think there is real talent that goes beyond his u15 categories--does that mean he's a nailed-on success? Again, no. But do I think there's something there? Yes.

Camarda, if he's going to be a success, will have to model his game after Kane and late-stage Benzema. Neither can rely on their pace, but they use power, intelligence, and movement to give them the operating room to score. Benz was a great facilitator and this aspect of his game is something Camarda clearly emulates. I don't think Camarda has the shot power like Colombo, who has just a missile for a left foot, but if (if) Camarda is going to make it, he's not going to be doing spectacular things like Ibrahimovic or even Lewa. He's going to be more of a no-nonesense Harry Kane style of striker.

If you watch Harry Kane at 19, he looks pretty ordinary. It's going to take time to see what Camarda's future is going to be.

Speaking of the Sopranos......the last few days I'm re-watching Boardwalk Empire and I'm finding it even better than at first viewing. As added bonus the nudity is abounding, T & A all over the place.

Finished the whole 12 episodes of season one and I'm up to the sxth of season 2. Fantastic casting and great acting by Steve Bushemi, Michael Shannon, and Michael Pitt.
Boardwalk empire is fantastic but nothing beats The Sopranos for me! Incredible characters.

Camarda is an incredible talent. The club only made terrible choices for his development, Lecce was a shit club for a young striker.
And the year before he has played for a bad futuro team who barely reached the opposites half, + a lot of bench minutes for the first team and some primavera minutes.
He played for 3 teams that season… thats no good at all.
They should finally have a clear plan for him.
Loan him to an attacking serie B team ( a top half team) or count on him as backup for Goncalo Ramos and give him serious minutes!

Mainly technical ability, athleticism, and movement. He seems decent across the board but I haven’t seen anything yet - albeit in extremely limited minutes - that suggests anything really that extraordinary.

Again - not writing him off, or even close to it. But he needs to start producing now, even if it’s only in Serie B, and I’ll happily change my tune.

Also agree with @Beppe that a big reason for this is because the club did a horrible job on his development over the last 3 years, which is probably why we’re even here in the first place

I think we should be a little more skeptical over reports of Saudi interest in players. There is a pretty widespread reduction in the spending by Saudi clubs, and if the more niche reporting is true, law firms are being mobilized to prepare for disputes with players for unpaid wages amid these spending cuts.

Saudi will probably still fund stars here-and-there, but I think you'll see less Ruben Neves or even Jan-Carlo Simic sorts of moves in the future.

Yamal is the best player of all time in his age bracket. Whether or not he will be a true goat is a question for the future. But he just turned 19 a couple of days ago - there are no player even close to what he is doing.

On a national team level, he already won the Euros while being the best player. He is not as good in this WC as he was in the Euros, but still an undisputed leader, to a team that just reached the WC final. On a club level, he already had 2 seasons with more than 40 g+a, leading Barca back to an elite team.

He came 2nd in the ballon door last year - if Spain would win the WC, it is really hard to argue against him winning the ballon door this year. Btw the current record holder for that is R9, and even he "only" won it as a 21 year old - Yamal could be the first teenager to win it. And it would be well deserved.

Think the Mendes clients are still being paid and they still seem to spend on them for whatever reason

The 9 would just be massaro and his other fake accounts.

If you love football...supporting Argentina is one of the best choices you'll ever make.

Im not promising any trophies.

But the football will be worth watching just for the drama.

Then you throw in the goals and its mamma Mia, no one does it better. And I'll die on that hill tbh.

I think Brazil and Holland might come close in terms of beautiful goals.

But thats about it.

too many great players to list but if pushed all time favorite player: Maldini
But no EPL teams are offering right now.
We take what we can get.

Y'all shit on him constantly over the past 3 seasons, and then turn around and expect other teams to pay a kings ransom for him?
Argue Book Of Mormon GIF by Jukebox Saints

Need I remind y'all that the master of sales, Igli Tare, no longer works for us.
I was never that critical of Tomori he had his faults but there were others I was critical of. It is also true no EPL teams are bidding. Many have been very harsh in their critique of Tomori if you ask me.
The GOAT debate is interesting. It's not worth much but I think it's fun to compare the best of the best.
For me, R9 is the GOAT, but I factor in a lot of things most won't really care about. Many ppl won't even have him top 10.

I really can't complain if someone says Messi. The guy has won it all and can do it all except dominate in the air for obvious reasons.
The most fair, standard answer is that Messi is the GOAT. If you peer beneath the surface, it seems that Messi has had unfair advantages to me.

I can't complain about CR7 either because he's won mostly everything and is a monster in the air.
Pele - revered by the greats. They know and have seen waaay more than me. Their opinion counts for more.
Maradonna - all the old guys rate him as the best, but interestingly the Maradonna fans for the most part, think Messi is the GOAT now.

But at the end of the day, saying "they're all great" is a massive cop out. God himself might know the answer to this question.
If it floats your boat enjoy the debate. I just see it as someone arguing about the greatest film or album ever, for me there is no such thing I have a long list of films and albums I consider amazing.
It is what it is.

If you could determine the exact day each and every player was on his absolute primest peak, put him in a time capsule and bring them all together at once, for me Ronaldinho is the GOAT.

That doesn't factor in how much a player scored, won or lost in his career and it's probably even less objective than every other metric. But somehow, for me, it checks out.

Fair (y)

Dinho at his peak could do everything. R9 was faster, he was a better at the midfield creation stuff.
If you watched R9 carefully, he could actually do all of the skill moves we associate with Dinho.

Pato with more sense and direction could have achieved so much more hugely talented for his age. It is a real shame he didn’t manage his career better while having his fun too 😉

Como president Suwarso said

Suwarso and the phone call to Marotta: "There was talk in the media about us potentially competing with Inter for Chalobah. They were saying that we might want to sign him and that they might want to as well. So I said to myself: 'You know what? I’ll call the Inter president directly and ask: Do you want him? If you do, go ahead. We’ll step aside. But if you do sign him, give me one of your players.'

He replied: 'Thanks for calling, I appreciate it. We’ll let you know by the end of the day. And if we don’t proceed, here are the other targets we were tracking—we’re happy to share them with you.' To me, this kind of open relationship between clubs—where everyone can win—helps everyone improve."

Fuck Como, fuck Fabregas, fuck Inter, fuck Marotta and i hope that Lautaro's knees will crack tonight
