When the boss says he doesn’t like it, you better change.
That seemingly innocent statement by Maldini, is to me the first public sign of the breaking of the relationship.
I’m gonna speculate (that’s all we do here)… All this complaining Maldini does to Massara during the games, I think a lot of it is about Pioli.
I can’t see Maldini be satisfied with the use he’s made of the new signings.
Adli has shown enough promise in preseason games to warrant more minutes.
Vranckx has been a spark in multiple cameos that I do not get why he hasn't been given more time. Even just to give us more energy and fight.
It's weird that Dest hasn't been tried in the pseudo "RWB" role, that is really just the RW, that is the only role I could see him contributing and yet it hasn't been tried. And I hate Dest, but I would like to see that tried.
Pobega has scored both of his goals coming off the bench, nor has been used as a battering ram, except once, where it worked well, so I don't get why not try it again?
Pioli is looking for certainties and is trying to avoid risks... but that isn't working.
I also think by using less players, other teams can prepare more easily, because he isn't able to change the look or approach of our tactics, or even just using players with different play styles.
Let's say Adli played, and failed, plus CDK being bad, those are young players--Rebic and Origi have let the team down the most, they are supposed to be experienced professionals, but they've not performed at all this year. Some of the things they have done, it isn't on tactics or structure, and it sure as shit isn't about fatigue. They aren't young players and they haven't helped.
For me, our attack is the biggest problem. It is toothless. And our midfield and defense are not playing as well as last year, but our attack is carrying even less of a threat than they did last year, which I think puts the rest of the team under more threat and pressure--especially when we dedicate 4 players to attacking roles. It's not like we are losing shootouts like a Zeman team.
We couldn't win a shoot out even if we wanted to, between our poor finishing and wildly inconsistent attack, we struggle to score more than a goal--we squander chances even in games where we finally show up.
