I have a feeling that Leao will renew only to be sold this summer to generate more money for the club. Also, it looks like this new 3-5-2/3-4-2-1 formation Pioli's insistent on doesn't really suit his characteristics hence the goals have dried up. Therefore, I think we're better off switching to a flat 3-5-2 permanently with Theo + Kalulu/Calabria as the wingbacks and cashing in on Leao to sign a strong, experienced CB to partner Tomori + Thiaw in addition to a Kessie replacement and new CF who can bang. The 100m earned from the CL can help fund this too.

A great picture from yesteryear, but I honestly thought it was a shot from Karate Kid, then realised there are no black dudes in the movie...

Sweep the leg Frank, sweep the leg... He'd fucking do it as well 💪

View attachment 16530

In the first karate kid, Cobrai Kai has a black member that spars with another student when Daniel and Mr miyagi go to the cobra Kai gym together. Daniel fights him during the tournament on his way to fighting Jonny. I don't recall him in other scenes.

Can't see this happening tbh.

He's playing like shit, even worse, doing so nonchalantly. Why would a team agreed to pay a transfer fee on top of his renewed wage?

If I was a SD who was interested, my message would be "play your ass off and show your maturity in your last year with Milan, we can talk big contract after". So good news is if he is going to fuck us, it's in his best interest to at least play well next season and not this chicken shit performance he's offering on the pitch.

Re CB, Ndicka is available for free this summer whereas both Marquinhos + Bastoni's contracts expire next year. It's just a shame that they're all probably EPL bound and we can't afford their wages. However, Scalvini is a very promising, young Italian CB (who can also cover DM) and will be available for around 35-40m should MMM wish to make a long term investment.

In attack, Jonathan David (who we've been linked to previously and Luis Campos advised us to sign for 27m) is having a phenomenal season for Lille and is the fourth highest scorer in Europe. I think it's safe to say he's the next Osimhen/Leao so M&M better be prepared to dig DEEP (c.45-50m) to snatch him from the competition. Also, selling Leao to help fund the move will assure the player that he can play in the EPL at a later date if he wants to.

As for midfield, it looks like PSG are willing to sell Renato Sanches  but it's probably best to leave damaged goods alone.

He could renew on a reasonable wage only to be sold for a higher transfer fee shortly thereafter. However, with just 1 year left on his contract, I really have NO IDEA how much we can expect to collect. Mediaset believes we can recoup 80m but I think that's highly unlikely even with the crazy spending in the EPL.

We're reverting to a back four, I think this has been pretty much confirmed, no?
When the boss says he doesn’t like it, you better change.

That seemingly innocent statement by Maldini, is to me the first public sign of the breaking of the relationship.

I’m gonna speculate (that’s all we do here)… All this complaining Maldini does to Massara during the games, I think a lot of it is about Pioli.
I can’t see Maldini be satisfied with the use he’s made of the new signings.

It was weird. For those that don't know, it was a question by Nesta to Maldini, asking him what he thought of the back three. Maldini laughed and said why ask me a question when you know the answer? He said he always wants to play with a back four, and there's different solutions to fixing the problem, maybe with three in the middle instead of three in the back.

I agree, something went wrong this season in their relationship. Pioli underusing the new guys is really astonishing.

Maldini doesnt like the team to defend with 5 defenders..but he let pioli do what he thinks is the best thats what he told nesta...also if u watch our game when we defend theo and messias become lb and rb...

We can change formation but the system how we defend is the same

Dafooq does Maldini know about coaching compared to pioli ? :o

He barely knows how to be a sporting director. :head:

When clueless cardinale asks him how he got the job , i expect he replies something like this :

We've conceded the same types of goals in recent games as we were during January, getting stretched wide open from bad turnovers (sometimes in our own half) and leaving players wide open on set pieces. I think adding an additional defender for sure has made our set piece look a bit better. But the root issue is clear which is no real offensive threat once teams stay organized and force us to slowly build up instead of attacking from the transition. Sure, some of it is down to defenders making individual mistakes and I think there are things for them to be worked on. But I can agree with Rossoner17's sentiment that Pioli's tactics causes players to be static which in turn causes them to not be alert and have low concentration on top of fatigue from not rotating properly, and that causes them to perform poorer than expected.

The fact that Pioli just slapped a bandaid and hoped 3-man defense + MM would fix the issue is probably the root cause of maldino's annoyance rather than the number of defenders or our specific defense setup. We are still static af offensively with Leao looking worse than ever. Considering how his contract renewal is going, maldino is probably feeling the heat.

Same thing I've been asking to see from Leao (at least try some different moves, if it fails we can at least troubleshoot and keep improving) has also been missing from Pioli.

My gut feeling is Chelsea's late window offer wasn't even a large amount like 75m, rather something like 50m + some players.

I don't think we will get nearly as much as 80m, in fact I'd say it would be closer to 50m, but I am also very pessimistic.

Agreed...50-60m max with just one year remaining on his deal plus the unresolved litigation issue. Another fail by M&M.

UEFA regulations stipulate that a maximum of five teams from each country can take part in the Champions League group stage. If the Italians (Napoli, Milan and Inter in the Champions League, Juventus and Roma in the Europa League) potentially win the Champions and Europa League & were to finish Serie A in fifth and sixth place, the fourth place team would not be admitted to the next Champions League.

Now I understand why Pioli is choking in the league and Juventus got a -15...

#1 Napoli
#2 Lazio
#3 Roma
#4 Inter
#5 AC Milan
#6 Juventus

AC Milan to win CL, Juventus to win EL. Inter to not get into 23/24 CL because of it.

Pioli x Allegri ultimate troll.

Adli has shown enough promise in preseason games to warrant more minutes.

Vranckx has been a spark in multiple cameos that I do not get why he hasn't been given more time. Even just to give us more energy and fight.

It's weird that Dest hasn't been tried in the pseudo "RWB" role, that is really just the RW, that is the only role I could see him contributing and yet it hasn't been tried. And I hate Dest, but I would like to see that tried.

Pobega has scored both of his goals coming off the bench, nor has been used as a battering ram, except once, where it worked well, so I don't get why not try it again?

Pioli is looking for certainties and is trying to avoid risks... but that isn't working.

I also think by using less players, other teams can prepare more easily, because he isn't able to change the look or approach of our tactics, or even just using players with different play styles.

Let's say Adli played, and failed, plus CDK being bad, those are young players--Rebic and Origi have let the team down the most, they are supposed to be experienced professionals, but they've not performed at all this year. Some of the things they have done, it isn't on tactics or structure, and it sure as shit isn't about fatigue. They aren't young players and they haven't helped.

For me, our attack is the biggest problem. It is toothless. And our midfield and defense are not playing as well as last year, but our attack is carrying even less of a threat than they did last year, which I think puts the rest of the team under more threat and pressure--especially when we dedicate 4 players to attacking roles. It's not like we are losing shootouts like a Zeman team.

We couldn't win a shoot out even if we wanted to, between our poor finishing and wildly inconsistent attack, we struggle to score more than a goal--we squander chances even in games where we finally show up.

If he happy if Leao gets Kuco’s level of shooting at this point

I’ve only ever seen Leao side foot the ball. When he tries to instep it balloons into row Z. Never seen him put his laces through it or use the outside of his boot. It’s like he never learned to shoot growing up
Yeah his instep shots are very poor.
Not sure why and kinda disappointed with him for not improving them.
Someone with his talent should be perfecting outside foot shots by now.

Nevertheless....even superstars have shit technique.
Leao gets himself into positions where he can shoot however he wants.
Rivaldo used to side foot everything, even shots that should be instep/laces.
I remember Sacchi criticizing Zlatan's technique too.

What matters is that he keeps (begins to?) working hard on his game and his flaws.
Also his cerebral interpretation of his role is very poor.
Vini knows what the fuck he's doing. But he wasn't always so. Carlo helped a lot.
M'Bappe knows his role VERY well.
Leao is just like....chillin' and shit :fp:

He isn't even better than gakpo.
How I feel about my boy Tfat when he goes against nature and posts anti-Leao sentiment

To me it’s because he doesn’t really play with any urgency offensively.

He’s always looking to beat his man instead of combo with teammates. He has decent dribble to be tricky and can get past his man or even two, but he doesn’t really have the final ball or is pacy enough to create danger near the goal.

I agreed with your assessment of him before where you said his dribbles are just flashy but lead to nothing

Pioli schooled Conte even twice in a period where his team couldn't win one point against the likes of Salernitana, Sassuolo, Fiorentina or Udinese, mind you.

By that analogy, shouldn’t we be signing a coach from one of those clubs we lost to?

He still is. What he did in the past three years and in bringing us back to the top won't ever be forgotten. Wasn't old enough to appreciate Sacchi, don't care much for Capello and Ancelotti had one of the greatest squads ever. What Pioli did last season i'll never forget.

Minimizing Carletto is HARAM brother brk.

It really annoys me when ppl talk about our 2007 squad like they didn't have LOTS of problems.
They just look at the NAMES on the team sheet and say "wow what a SUPER TEAM", when the reality is that we were an old team since 2003.
What Carlo & Kaka did with the revenge CL was nothing short of legendary.
