I was impressed by the third goal from Giroud. That was skill, willpower and determination to score. I mean he was wrestling with the defender and still scored a great goal.
If that had been CDK or Origi.....better not think about it.

i like diaz, he has developed well over the last few years but wouldn't pay any crazy fees either.

he is quite elite in these categories

also in progressive passes, passes and carries into the final third, through balls, passes blocked, fouls drawn he is one of the better players statistically. these are probably the more important attributes that pioli wants to see from the AM in his system.

I would be okay with not renewing Diaz, IF it means that we sign Kamada for free (and have Kamada/CDK/Adli for AMF), AND instead spend the money on a RW-threat. Imagine our opponents fearing somebody on our right side, and not just our two beasts on the left (I really appreciate Saelemakers energy and technique, but I think we need somebody with that extra gear).

It’s also clear that we need more depth/quality at CMF. With Bennacer out for 6 months, and considering we didn’t really replace Kessie quality-wise, last season, this piece is important. I just want a physical presence who will be fill up places and win duels.

And at last, a CF who is not 99% depended on getting the ball inside 7 meters of the goal. I love Giroud for what he does and sometimes he fits the strategy just right when opponents are defending deep back, but I really envy teams who has a CF who can run in behind enemy lines and be a deep ball threat (obvious choices would be somebody who can be a deep ball threat AND be a fox-in-the box (That’s why I like a guy like Højlund - he can do both). Maybe Origi was supposed to be that, who knows, but yeah, I don’t think he is the answer.

Just my three cents on priorities for next season

STs are the most dependant position in football.
Its a waste to spend big on STs when there is no system up & runing.
Am not saying it wont be better , any better player will indeed mean a better team.
Its just not optimal.
I would upgrade OG when all of our other positions are fixed.

People can hate me all they want, but I actually like Brahim. I don't know, he's very likeable and he has delivered in big games too, he's just inconsistent (as our whole squad tbh). He also seems to be attached to Milan and happy to play for us.
I'm not happy to see him at CAM, think he's better for our RW, even though yesterday he did well.

I wouldn't spend too much on him, but wouldn't mind to see him stay. After all he's Theo's buddy and we want to keep Theo happy

I agree but some modern strikers like Osimhen/Kane/Benzema aren’t just poachers though and they are involved with our build up play. Giroud is more traditional.

A more complete striker who gets involved with our build play and can actually run and dribble will definitely help our team even if other areas aren’t upgraded.

Leao and Giroud having more G/A (Diaz is also not too bad) despite all the shit performances can only mean that other players didn't deliver enough G/A and that obviously we conceded too many goals. A lot of things were broken this season, we need to fix them for next season.

What do you think about Girouds footballing skills? Do you think he's got a great hold up play, passing, dribbling, speed, stamina. You know, important things for a striker.

Since you're gonna answer no on all off the above, do you not see how he ruins attack after attack? Service goes both ways, a team expects it's forward to be able to do certain things. Not to be a pile of shit and score a goal here and there.

As bad as Giroud is, forget about 25 goals, he would need to score at least 40 every season to make up for the pile of dogshit he is.

but he was CF in a minor league. there is a huge difference between defenders in italy and belgium. just in terms of physique, he can't come close to keeping up. he’s getting tossed around like child. i can’t see how he would survive as CF.
maybe in a few years, when he has bulked up more and gained more experience in the league.

right now i see him as a SS/AM too. he actually has everything it takes to excel at this position. it just doesn't click so far.
forget this year and start all over again in the summer. after all, it can't get any worse.
