Bennacer’s injury would seem to necessitate the need for a midfielder. Additionally, we are losing Vranckx and Bakayoko.Well, if Pioli starts playing like he did in the mystical "lockdown period" then yes, they'd both be really useful. I find the continued pursuit of Kamada to be surprising because of Pioli's inclinations towards a 424.
Even if he wanted to play like he did against Napoli last year where he had a more V-shaped midfield with Tonali at the base, and Kessie and Bennacer on either side, but, even when he used a midfield three against Napoli this year, that shape, which was more of a ^-shape, would be the way to maximize Kamada, if he does come. It's also the ideal place to play Adli, but we haven't seen Pioli do that, at all.
I find Pioli's lack-of-use of Adli coupled with his resistance to playing CDK as a RW, despite so many Belgian coaches saying that's a place for him, mind-boggling.
The funny part is that Moretto (who seems to be in-the-know) gave out a list of players that management are looking at, and... DM wasn't one of them? He said that they want: a striker, a right winger, a 10 that can play as an 8 (Kamada obviously), CB, and a backup for Theo.
Maybe they believe that Pobega can make a jump next year? Or maybe Adli will suddenly play more CM? Kamada playing as a CM with Tonali is... not something I want to see.
I'm curious what happens to CDK. I think they're pushing him into these U21 games so he can put himself in the shop window, but I wonder if we'll get the bites we want? I can see CDK being stuck here, even if reports point to us wanting to move on.
I'm very curious to see what emerges with this regime change.
Going into the season with Tonali, Krunic, and Pobega is a recipe for disaster.
We have so many needs, I think it’ll necessitate some sales with our limited budget.
