I thought spending half a billion euros in one season equals instant title win? Isn't that what happens when you 'win' the mercato?

Longo: A strange transfer market, without emotions, jolts. As always, we tried to tell it seriously. Milan closes with only Vasquez, (not ready), and loses a great opportunity to try and improve things.

Longo has gotten a lot of shit in here but he's turned out to be the superior Milan source, second only to Vitiello.

Well I would say that most of the people you are characterising were also against Gerry and said he wasn't rich enough.

They wanted a much wealthier owner ie State ownership or Oligarch

Yeah I remember those debates vividly even by the time when the first rumors were about Investcorp. I always said careful for what you wish, we know what we have in Elliott, we know how they work and that their work brings the club forth step by step (even to the top of Italy eventually). But we don't know what the next owner will be. That was always my stance.

Well, here we are now, well knowing what we had in Elliott (and hadn't when you wished for an Oligarch or entire state, yeah) and kinda hoping that Redbird can at least be a little bit more like them. Who would have thought?

I think Arsenal van Bommel'd with the Jorginho signing. Top stuff.

My two nephews, 9 and 10, have become Milan fans because of Leao, Ibra, Giroud, and Theo... and Gullit?

One of them abandoned Chelsea and is a taekwando star (and basketball star) so Ibra is his hero, the other is probably going to join this forum in a few years and write essays about the evolution of striker tactics from Puskas to Haaland. He's a talented player who told me he loves Gullit, apparently FIFA cards has made Milan popular with the youth?

I just bought them shirts, I'm just hoping they miss out on the most recent results though lol.
PERIOD‼️

I imagine most young fans have no idea forums like this exist.

I’m still reserving judgment until the end of the summer window.

Our league isnt strong, low tv deals are a real thing... but are we worse than the French league? Are we even lower than Nice?

I think Nice has a billionaire owner, Jim Ratcliffe. Maybe they're trying to do a Chelsea and using some loophole in FFP to spend that much. Nice haven't really been big spenders since he took over though and I think they've also regressed in standings since the takeover.
But the French league should be making even less money on TV revenue than Serie A.

We will turn this around with the current roster, coach and management. At worst 2nd in May.

Caicedo was their first option ,Jorginho will be very useful for them. Arsenal play beautiful efficient football ,i saw them few times this year. Newcastle is also becoming top team, very hard to beat.

If folks think the snake oil salesman will provide any money for the summer also they are in for a rude awakening.

This transfer window pretty much proved what ambitions this ownership has - which is fuck all.

This asshole is even more sleazy than Yonghong Li.

Milan is in autopilot mode right now. After we lost Boban and recently Gazidis team got a lot worse.
Nobody is safe now ,from Maldini to Pioli .If we lose CL spot that will be a disaster.
Let's hope some fodders can get in nice form ,and if we can get some decent money for them .

I’m still reserving judgment until the end of the summer window.

I mean yeah, I still think the best and probably only way of protecting their 1,2B investment is to build on the current sporting success. I don't see a working business modell that doesn't see us improving on that side. And the only way to improve is to strengthen the squad. Especially when we're talking about building a media house company producing content on every front. How's that supposed to work without an appealing brand that in sport only comes with success, titles and recognizable faces?

So yeah, I don't think they are here to pull an infamous Udinese. How and how successful they are going to do it remains to be seen.

Obviously I think all of this has very little to do with our current crisis. That I blame mainly on Pioli. I hoped to see some help from the mercato during this winter window. But it's hard to argue that this mess isn't almost entirely housemade. Maybe the summer mercato wasn't as fruitful as hoped. But then again one must ask why Pioli all of a sudden is so hesitant on using all the players at his disposal. It's not as if the "old" guard is simply too good to be replaced. Now during a crisis it becomes even more difficult to integrate new players. Take Vranckx for example. Yeah he gave away that foul against Roma who led to the equalizer. But what does Pioli get from not giving him minutes at all since then!? I don't get that. He's been more than valid (and even deciding against Fiorentina) in many other games. I really don't get that.

This guy is not a journalist but I find him worthwhile to follow. Stand up guy with honest takes, albeit a little emotional. Who isn't.
