Vini understands how to mix speeds better and has that composure to slow things down to his advantage.

That also maybe a part of being that much fitter but yes he can be used as a model for Leao to aim for in winger qualities.

It needs to be said though that he (Vini) too improved a great deal even though his finishing isnt that good yet.

And our Bennie need to model this particular God :

Modric = football God

Vini has the benefit of Madrid's staff and doctors who are world class

That being said I think Leao is more skillful and has a better frame but Vini def has him beat in the overall physical department
or...mental?

The problem with the 3-4 year argument is that it assumes that a majority of core players will stay with us and patiently wait for us to eventually buy the right quality of players.

At some point, the best players in the squad are going to question the ambition of the project if we don’t show a serious upward trajectory (this season, I would argue that we haven’t).

With Dollar & Kabob leaving, an aging Ibra, Pioli haters, Salad at RW, Mike's injury, African Tourney in the middle of the season, etc.. there weren't a lot of people that believed Milan would be competing for the scudetto. You sound as if you think AC Milan can compete in today's market with ManCity, Liverpool, PSG, etc.. We can't financially. Not yet.

It's not a 3-4 yr plan to buy the right pieces, they needed to 1) balance the books, 2) stay in CL at all costs and 3) make Milan profitable again (similar to MAGA). Finances were also impacted by Covid, extra & frequent testing expenses and games behind closed doors.

Despite all those difficulties, Milan is still at the top fighting for the scudetto. Milan's performance this season is why the sponsorships and general finances are doing much better than previous years. In addition, 3 sales are expected at least bringing in cash that can be used to improve the squad quality.

With a return to profitability, now they can afford to pursue higher end players without resorting to panic buying). You should indeed be grateful for Elliott, Maldini, Masara, et al. working so diligently to get Milan's books back in order. I bet it was extremely difficult, and at the same time, trying to improve the squad.

For people shitting on our CL performances. I'm very excited to see what Pioli can do in Europe. Because, unlike what you lot seem to realize, we are built for that competition. In Italy, we struggle against the teams that respect us and sit back. Is that going to happen in Europe? No. Leao and Theo will do the business. And we can match the energy and pace of those teams too. Against big teams in the league and against the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool, we've done well. We would've done much better without so many injuries and bad luck. And that was in an incredibly tough group, in our maiden campaign. Only encouraged by what I saw.

Another thing to note is our defence. A strong defence is rare in Europe. Kinda why you always see an ugly team getting to the final. The likes of Chelsea, relying on their strong defence and then having enough to get one goal.
The fact that we do well against the top Italian sides means nothing in Europe. Serie A is rubbish.

How can you have watched our CL campaign and claim that we can match Liverpool’s energy and pace? We were outplayed twice.

Serie A in general is struggling on the big stage largely due to the lack of intensity in the Italian game.

You know he and Theo have the role of taking on defenders right, they simply have to do that and try or else there is no attack
His job is taking 3 defenders at a time ?

said it before will say it again. We don’t shoot enough, especially when we are stuck … we have some good shooters too.
Despite That, we are among the highest goals scored from outside the box. Further proof that we can score more.

The last 2 goals we scored, which gave us our last 1-0’s wins, came from unexpected shots from outside the box…well, we can make that “expected.”

1 more reason I’m excited to welcome Origi. I hope we don’t modify too much his way of playing (ie taking less shots)…Adli also has a good shot.

I found something interesting about Origi. I think he is not CF, but more wide player. SS or Winger. Still somewhere in my head I think it is bad transfer. Few times I had mistake. I will welcome as backup player, bt I want to see Milan invest proper 9. https://understat.com/player/484

We are just one (or two) sassuolo fodder signings away from European domination.

I can smell fear all across Europe.

Sam….your and brk’s reasoning is very flawed

Few teams on earth are better built than Bayern… they just got ass blasted by Villareal.

Plans are great but you need to seize the opportunity. If we keep sticking stubbornly to #dApLaN there’s a chance that at the end of the 3 year cycle we end up with jack shit
This is a sport. No matter how well you’re prepared there’s still randomness and luck involved. The better you plan and build towards a great future, the better your chances are. Nothing is ever certain but you can make sure that you have the best odds each time you play.

I don’t want to depend so heavily on luck each time we play. I want us to be unlucky when we lose, not lucky when we win.

Having lived through the banter era, of course I’m grateful.

But, my point is that this season hasn’t been an improvement over the last - we are just 2 points better off. Our attack has regressed, significantly. Money was squandered in the transfer market on players who hardly ever play.

Our players don’t care about FFP, stadium, balancing the books, etc. we can’t expect them to take such a long term view.

This needs to be a 1-2 year plan, not a 3-4 year one. Otherwise, we’ll spend every season just replacing missing pieces instead of making concrete steps forward; not dissimilar to a Leipzig or a Dortmund

5 years ago today Chinese con artists bought Milan lol

And once Kessie leaves not a single signing from that era will still be in the squad despite 250m spent. Unbelievable.

Berardi also has a good shot too

Jokes aside, Origi can shoot very well with either foot from any distance which is why I also welcome his signing especially for free.

Some reports say Milan may try to sign Perisic for free to replace Rebic. Thoughts?

33 year-old, demanding 5 m net and long contract, not benefitting from the growth decree to be a bench player for Leao. Sure

Sounds like the kind of thing said to put pressure on Inter by his agent. Perisic is great and is the sort of older experienced player they like to sign. Still runs all game and can play on the right and on the left. I would absolutely go for him for two years, why not.

From what I saw - we were away against the best team in Europe. Especially when they play at home. In our first game in Europe in years, with an XI that probably had less than 10 UCL games combined under their belt. We gave as good as we got. The goal that actually gave them the lead was a very lucky deflection. We didn't let that hurt us and we fought back to take a lead. They stepped it up and edged us.

Serie A is rubbish? Pretty sure Inter didn't disgrace themselves against Liverpool. Getting the win at Anfield. Juventus beat Chelsea. Atalanta should've got more from their two games against United, scoring 4. Were the better side in both games..

I think no tnx.
Replace a 28 year old player who's loved by the fans with a 33 year old Inter-player?

Yeah no. Hearty no thanks.

So they're signing long term deals to leave? They're signing up to be part of something. They all talk about it. Leao, Bennacer, Kalulu, Theo, Maignan, they all are buying into what Maldini is selling them.

When did we sell someone we didn't want to sell under Elliott? There is a project and it is ambitious, otherwise, Maldini wouldn't put his name on it.

There is no doubt that we are missing pieces, but the massive difference between when Maldini took over and now is huge. I don't see how you look at the place we started under Maldini to now and don't see something special. I just don't.

The only players to have left, except fodder, are ones that were either before Maldini/Massara, or before Pioli came. Right? They believe in the project, the core players do, that wanted to be here and still do. We've had some key renewals with more expected from these players.

We were in the toughest ever CL group and didn’t qualify because of the ref. We’re first in the league after a season of catastrophic injuries. We still haven’t fully built the squad.

What, exactly, are your expectations that haven’t been met?

100%.

We're doing very well with the contracts as well. We identify the right players for the project, offer them a €1.5m - €2m a year on a 5-year contract.

These players perform well and when they've got 3 years left on their contract, we extend their contract by 2 years and bump their salary up to €3m or more.

Kalulu, for example. Currently on €600k/yr until 2025. After he's played a lot of minutes this season, Milan now know that he's a talent who can reach the top and we'll renew his contract until 2027 on a salary between €1.5m - €2m.

We never cave into excessive agent and salaries demands and that's the reason why we're running a great example of a self-sustaining business model. At times, it can be annoying that we hassle over every little penny, thus missing out on a target, but ultimately this will come to full fruition when we're able to have a €100m+ transfer window without thinking about selling any of our starters. Unlike the other club in the city..

We're only two years in the Maldini/Massara project and went from barely 6th placed EL team to 2nd placed team in Serie A to serious Scudetto competitors while still building towards an even stronger squad.

Look, you're not wrong, but how you people constantly try to see a lack of ambition, or even worse, no upward trajectory, is hilarious. For you there's nothing but now, now, now! Get some new perspective ffs. 🙄

For the record: Today, after 32 match days, we have two points more than last year at the same time.

I've mentioned it before, but it always feels like English players crave a return home. It doesn't seem that way with Tomori, but even so, how long can we keep him here? Even if we are reaching all our goals. Hopefully he'll continue to feel at home.

If Galliani was in charge, he'd be looking for buyers by now. I can't say it'd be bad business to let him leave. Bring in Bremer and Botman and probably still have cash left over!
From what I've seen from Bremer this season, I'm now convinced of his ability. May even be better than Tomori, if we are honest. If I thought Bremer-Tomori would work, I'd go with Bremer over Botman but I think they're too similar.
