I'd honestly bench Montolivo. If now is not the time to bench him and bring forward Locatelli I don't know when will the time be. Next year we'll have new investors that may invest into the midifeld department giving Locatelli much less playing time considering his age. The next string of games is the right time to test him and to see whether he can be depended on for next year.

It's not like Montolivo's been playing good or is indispensable. Who knows, maybe benching Montolivo for Locatelli could be that spark we've needed all season? Maybe Montolivo is the virus that has been in the squad for the past few years? He's one player who can't keep his concentration up at 100% during the whole game and he's the one player that should be doing that as he's our leader.

Mh, really hard to say as I don't know enough about Locatelli to know if he can do as good as Monto. True that Montos last few games weren't impressive, but that is valid for almost our entire squad. Nevertheless he's working rate is very high and his absence is always as much felt as Kuco's. We started this season with De Jong and as soon as DEJ got benched for Monto we started to have a more funtional midfield.

That doesn't mean that I think Monto is unbenchable. But this is a very delicate game, a must-win with Sassuolo 1 point behind us. I'm not the coach, but maybe I would try to give Loca more and more minutes (lets say 20-30 minutes each game) before starting him in such a crucial role which is CM in front of the defence.
