Hamsik and Lavezzi still believe
By Football Italia staff

Marek Hamsik and Ezequiel Lavezzi have both spoken today of their belief that Napoli can still qualify for the Champions League this season.

The Partenopei’s hopes of making an immediate return to the competition they featured in this term were severely dented at the weekend with a 3-1 defeat away to Lazio. Following on from a loss at Juventus and successive draws with Udinese and Catania, the team find themselves six points adrift of third place.

“They are saying it is all but finished for us, but this is not true,” Lavezzi has responded on Twitter today. “We will give it our all. There are still seven games to play, and we will not give up!”

This is a message back up by Hamsik.

“We know we are in a difficult moment. We have not been lucky, the referee penalised us [against Lazio] but we will not give up.

“Our goal is always the same. We still believe in third place.”

Lazio is so shit away. There is no chance they will win, even a draw would be a big suprise.

If Juve loses, than at an away game.

Quagliarella set for Juve renewal
By Football Italia staff

League leaders Juventus will soon extend the contract of Fabio Quagliarella, reports La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Italian international is allegedly on the verge of agreeing new terms which will tie him to the outfit until June 2015.

The striker, four goals in 19 League games this term, is currently committed to the Old Lady until June 2014 following his move from Napoli.

Quagliarella, who was signed outright by Juve in the summer for a total of €15m, has scored two in his last two for the club.

Juventus have also recently extended the contracts of Paolo De Ceglie, Leonardo Bonucci and Alessandro Matri.

Andrea Barzagli and Gigi Buffon are also in line to prolong their agreements with the Turin giants.

Quagliarella, who missed the first six months of 2011 with injury, has today praised boss Antonio Conte for the way he has handled his comeback.

Del Piero one away from 700
By Football Italia staff

Alessandro Del Piero will make his 700th appearance for Juventus should he feature in Wednesday’s game against Lazio.

The veteran, three goals in 22 matches for the Old Lady this term, is on the verge of another club record.

No player has ever reached the 700 game mark for La Signora given that Del Piero is already well clear of Gaetano Scirea’s 552 and Beppe Furino’s 528.

Del Piero, who has grabbed 287 goals in the club’s colours, has racked up appearances in 11 different competitions.

Of his 699 games so far, 473 have come in Serie A, 35 in Serie B, 55 in the Coppa Italia, six in the Italian Super Cup, 89 in the European Cup, three in Champions League preliminaries, 28 in the UEFA Cup, four in Europa League preliminaries, three in the Intertoto, two in the European Super Cup and one in the Intercontinental Cup.

Congratulations!

We have to buy Del Piero if they get Seedorf and Nesta.

Of course I'm sure Del Piero will never join any other team in Italy, but our senators are not like that apparently :fp:

BTW forza Lecce, since we need them hopeful so they get a result or something against juve since they have no serious opponents except Roma teams that are know to be chokers against Juve.

We need Roma to do good, Atlanta to fuck up, and pray so Cesena and Novara which are two of Juve away games and are already relegated to don't lay down for them.

An Iranian who I think was the only Iranian to ever play in Italy has lately said all the minnow's players are corrupted and are being paid by big teams. :fp: :D

He can be full of it though.

It's very likely. But it seems everyone still has a chance except for maybe cesena. Last yr Bari was done at around February, so definitely shady shit. Except for against us.

Worse than that, tomorrow will be Del Piero's 700th game for Juve, fuckers are receiving motivations from left and right.

Cesena is done, they can't win 20 points in 7 games.

So is Novara, they're 10 points away from safe zone and have a 0.8 points per game ratio, so that's it for them too.

Lecce have just beaten Roma and are only 5 points away from Genoa, if we beat Genoa and they win their game , they will be alive when they meet a Juve.

Stramaccioni seeks Inter satisfaction
By Football Italia staff

Andrea Stramaccioni is keen to see Inter continue to improve under his reign as he welcomes Siena to San Siro on Wednesday night.

The Nerazzurri have won one and drawn one since replacing Claudio Ranieri with the youth team Coach, an unbeaten start that the 36-year-old has warned could be challenged by visitors in Week 32, Siena.

“For Siena this has been a great season as [Giuseppe] Sannino and his players have done a magnificent job,” Stramaccioni reflected on Tuesday to reporters.

“Siena are a well-drilled unit and they have caused problems for everyone. They come here on the back of an unbeaten run and they are perfectly capable of causing us problems too. We must be focused and very careful.

“In the situation we're in I don't think I can be thinking about [player] rotation as such. We have to assess the form and fitness of those who have played and look at how things have gone in training in the last few days. For sure we have to field the best Inter side possible.”

Stramaccioni was asked how he felt the players had taken to his arrival as Coach.

“Positively because I really do think the response has been positive. I try to give my all, my contribution, and now I feel I'm on the same wavelength as these players.

“In Trieste [against Cagliari] we did partially well - now we're hoping to be completely satisfied tomorrow evening after the game, but Siena are awkward opponents so it won't be easy.

The young Coach was asked about why he decided to bring Mauro Zarate back into first-team plans, after the Argentine’s struggles under predecessor Claudio Ranieri.

“I don’t know what he did before my arrival, but I have found a player who has been training well and who has done so with enthusiasm and desire.

“I knew he could make a contribution and I’m glad that he is expressing himself well.”

Stramaccioni was also asked of the possibility of being reunited with Mario Balotelli, the man who interrupted his unveiling as Inter Coach last month and more recently has been linked with a return to the Nerazzurri.

“Mario is part of Italian football and is a member of the national team. But, he is at Manchester City and we still have seven games to play.

“I can speak only of Inter. With regards transfer stories, you’ll have to ask Massimo Moratti or Marco Branca.

“He is a player of international quality but we already have many of those. To talk about a player from another team for me now is not the best thing. I cannot judge him either as I’ve never coached him.”

Yet, Stramaccioni was asked to speak of another player the club have been linked with and could be facing on Wednesday, Siena’s Mattia Destro.

“Destro is doing well, he has grown much, he is much more mature and stronger, thanks to the excellent work he has done with Siena.

“He represents the future because he has become a fixed point in the Under-21s and has proven to be good. As a young striker he would do well at any Italian team. Tomorrow though, we will try to limit him.

“He was a striker with Ascoli’s Giovanissimi Regionali. We followed him at Roma and talked to his father Flavio about buying him.

“I wish him all the luck possible, from Thursday onwards, though.”

Guys, don't jinx Lazio. Don't say anything about any team winning or the potential final result.

Out: Dias, Klose, Stankevicius, Lulic, Konko, Radu

Plus Reja decided to not field Hernanes after his bad performances of the last weeks.

Probably line-up:

3-5-1-1: Marchetti, 22, 20 Biava, 27 Cana, 21 Diakite, 15 Gonzalez, 32 Brocchi, Ledesma, 24, 11 Matuzalem, Scaloni 5, 6 Mauri, Rocchi 9.

I'd say Lazio won't draw or win.
