Just play Merkel ffs, with all respect but Gattuso is finished. Merkel would do alot better.

And I think we have never lost a game in serie A when Yepes has played :proud:

true - Sir Mario Yepes only lost in the CL against Tottenham

FUCKING AMAZING SUPER MARIO!

Mexes should start if he's available. Why would yepes and bonera start over him? It should be mexes with bonera

If only Noce's awareness & tackling were a bit better.
Man he will make one hell of a DM.
His passing is above average , he runs for ever & the guy has heart.
Could he converted ?

You're underrating Yepes. He's quite solid. Deffinately better than Bonera.

In slower paced football in italy and especially in our formation the mid dm needs to be smarter and more tactical than nocerino, not necessarily running around all over the pitch. Nocerino's role is perfect at the moment. I don't think he'd make a good DM, same as gattuso always playing on the right or left and destroying using his energy.

But in a faster league or in a 4-4-2 he'd make a good dm for sure.

On another note, Pirlo would have been amazing at dm this year with rino and nocerino destroying beside him :(

I'm really hoping Allegri starts Urby at LB. We saw how much damage he can cause with his attacking instincts and mainly crossing from the wide left areas. He's also quicker than Anto and his experience of playing trequartista this season has made his link up play better than Anto's.

I wish he could be converted, trully admire his passion for the game and he is few of our players who seem to respect our shirt with 100%. But unlike Boateng, since the beginning of the season Nocerino didn't show any improvement :(

Let me clarify :
-----------------------ST maxi----------------
----LAM SES----CAM Ibra----RAM Boa-------
---LCDM muntari ------- RCDM straser -----
LB Urby – LCB silva – RCB nesta – RB abate

That will be enough if you ever played soccer/football , you will understand what I m talking about

Hi Ike,

I hope you don't take my posts as a personal attack. I'm only trying to explain why Allegri is limited in his formation choices. I know our performances haven't been convincing, but adopting a 4-2-3-1 would only make matters worse, because we don't have the necessary personnel.

You can label SES/Boa as LAM/RAM all you want, but in a 4-2-3-1, they would need to operate as wingers. Look at the sides that play 4-2-3-1 such as Bayern Munich and Real Madrid... they have wingers in Ribery/Robben and Ronaldo/Maria... they don't use AMs in these positions.

Let's look at SES in our current 4-3-1-2. When he looks around, he sees Ibra and Prince immediately next to him or right behind him. When he receives the ball, he can immediately play it to one of those two and subsequently make a run. Point is, he doesn't need to dwell on the ball. He's effective this way.

Now imagne him in a 4-2-3-1. When he gets the ball on the left, he's completely isolated. He is not Ribery/Robben/Ronaldo/Maria to be able to consistently beat his man off the dribble in an isolated environment. Ibra is not going to consistently run to him to offer an outlet. Maxi is going to be even further away. SES is going to give the ball up.

Boa will face a similar problem. Likely even worse, because he's technically more limited, and operates best when he can get rid of the ball quickly and make a run instead.

Finally, a 4-2-3-1 would eliminate our most creative player - Cassano. He no longer has the mobility to play as a winger... to move the ball through so much space individually. Rather, he's best when he's able to combine in tight spaces with our other attackers.

Also, note that our "formation" dictates our defensive setup much more than our offensive. In attack, we have three interchanging forwards that constantly change shape to find the best method of attack. It's almost always through small exchanges of short passes... not players beating their man in isolation.

But in defense, we are nearly always strictly a 4-3-1-2... for good reason. Bommel sits while his CMs chase the ball in midfield, and Boa often tracks back to help. Performing these duties with only 2 players would really stretch our defense thin.

Anyway, hope it's now clear why a 4-2-3-1 would not work with the players we have.

Urby as LB should be one of our first priorities in Summer. He will be great in attack, so there's only concern about the defensive part. We must use him as LB against smaller teams, His crosses saved us from embarrassment in the last two games, and neither of our FBs can cross, and we probably won't buy one who can.

I would rather he be a back up LB

I am tired of having half assed options in that position. And we certainly haven't seen enough of him there to decide whether he is good enough for it....

Would be fucking amazing! I mean if Pirlo could play as a DM, Noce could too. The only question is about his will to be converted. This way we could save money that would be spent on getting a new DM.

You dont need to write a long post to explain why his formation will get raped.
Just write : Muntari-Strasser midfield

I think we better use him as a starter when we need the attacking half of the ass.
