Confirmations: the #Milan in the derby will play with a 3-man midfield

So the morning after being humiliated by Sassuolo at home, Pioli decides to do what every outside observer are begging for. Not after a week of training with a new formation or anything like that. He had it in the drawer all along. That is a relief.

Why on earth haven't Maldini/Massara replaced Tata with a better backup keeper? Maybe they couldn't have foreseen that Pioli would react so dumb in a crisis, but they knew before January that the defence didn't feel safe with the Romanian heroin addict in goal and they even tried with the PSG keeper, but skipped going for another option when that didn't work out(not counting Vásquez here). This cannot solely be a money issue. I refuse to believe that a loan option for a better keeper somewhere in Europe isnt possible.
And another thing: There seems to be no talk of Pioli losing the dressing room. How come? A collapse in this scale with players of such level must involve lack of trust in the coach. Since very recently key players were (still) praising Pioli, maybe that is why it is too hard to fathom if the core has turned on him.
PS: Haven't made post in here for ages, but needed to get a few things of my chest.
Tbh there was some training ground talk (led by Theo) that they were against Pioli’s training methodology

No smoke without fire.

It remains to be seen how he sets it up, and whether Vranckx/Adli is given a chance.

I’d personally play Ben as the 6 with Tonali as LCM.

I’d honestly try Saele at RCM, I think he has the tools for it. His control, passing, work rate is pretty good. Expecting Krunic though

RW of course CDK, but I bet he plays Diaz

Does that stand for Right Bench in another language? I'm confused

Tata is really bad but the worst thing is that even with Maignan in goal, they would have lost each of these games. They might have conceded fewer goals, but it wouldn't have changed much in the end.

And that is worrying. Tata is just one problem in a sea of other problems.

The other problem is that neither the management nor the coach are doing anything to get us out of this situation.

Giroud should be the plan B, when we need a goal and we want to cross aimlessly. He should NEVER be a plan A. We can't run with him, we can't press and our counterpress is a joke. We have to start with Rebic, Origi or CDK up front. Even if we play 433, we'll have the same sort of press if we play Giroud in a 4231, he's that bad at pressing.
Well well well…

Last 2 games:

7 shots on target, 5 goals.

5 shots on target, 4 goals.

Idk but we could've gotten away with 2 goals allowed in each if it was Maignan. you are right, the whole team is playing like shit, but yesterday even Giroud was yelling at Tata. The frustration starts there.

hopefully this will stop the bleeding somewhat. even a 0-1 defeat would be a step forward. just no further humiliations pls.

4 3 1 2....RB Salzburg played this formation against us.. This way you can keep Giroud in line up, just with a proactive (Leao doesn't do a lot of work or enough movement) strike partner "origi/rebic and Cdk (cam) between the lines to receive and drive forward... His best attribute I think.

If we lose I’d rather it be a humiliation so that Pioli is fired tbh

I’ve reached that point

Vranckx looked good in C.Italia vs Torino. Reminded me of Kucka

We should follow the steps of Sinisa's Milan. To me the last one really decent, because at that time Calshio had great players

So we could play in that way

4-4-2

Calabria Kjaer Tomori Theo
Bennacer Vranckx Tonali Dest
Giroud Leao

Dest LM he says... I don't want Dest on the pitch. I don't want him anywhere in the stadium.

A midfield screen of bennacer-pobega-tonali can provide defensive stability. Then the typical defense of Theo tomori kalulu any RB... Even like this it would be a lot easier to transition to back 3 and wing backs with correct subs.

let's not kid ourselves. if they fire him now, some fodder coach like abata will take over until summer. imo that's a bigger risk than continuing with pioli.

How long can it take to find out what coaches are available, get their contact info and present a deal.

We're down in the hole. We can't do worse than this.

We have the worst defensive statistics of the whole of Europe so far in 2023. Let that sink in. Any serious club would fire the coach under these circumstances.

4-3–1-2 shouldn’t be an option
Our attack will be even more dead without wings

Has to be after the derby if they make a change. What’s the point of switching him after the CL? They have no shot at winning it.
I didnt say its what i would do , its whats probably gonna happen.
For me MMM are more to blame than Pioli but its all about salvaging the current season & getting a different coach is the easiest way.

Tell me why this kid would agree to join us. He first needs to graduate from MIT before he is capable of understanding the advanced tactics of the bald genius. Adli, Thiaw, CDK, Lazetic still have a few more years before graduation.

Losing Kessie is important and we never replaced him. I’m not (and never did) deny that. Just saying that our problems right now are structural and mental and replacing players won’t do much.
I quoted you discussing the importance of Kess & not whats need to be done today.
Now its structural because the team is mentally depleted but thats another discussion.
If you ask what need to be done then its easily a upgrading the coach even without ading any new player.
