Hand to God, I can't honestly think of a more accurate picture of Gerry and Maldini than this

Who is Zanetti? Is that the 6th or 7th best RB of all time? I keep forgetting about him.

Anyway.

Yes, I'm not saying that Maldini had to stay no matter what. I'm saying that if you make a decision this big you have to win, right away. You lose patience from fans when you fire the SD who built this team.
Not really. Only the ones who backed Maldini vociferously.

Top 4 and r16/qf finish is still my expectations

The only positive I can currently see is moncada getting more say in transfers. We are lucky to have he’s a genius.

Obv sad to see Paolo leave and especiallly not like this but I guess they just couldn’t allow a big transfer window with directors who fucked up last summer.. also one huge problem has been the inability to sell players + letting them go for free.. we would’ve had so much more to invest otherwise..

I have a heavy heart but I don’t think it’s the worst decision in the world considering they didn’t agree on the path and in this battle the owners always win ..

I hope they have a good plan though and we have no choice but to hope for the best.

I for one, weirdly am quite optimistic.

Damn I wish Maldini was still a part of the club, just in a different capacity. You don’t sack someone like him, you offer him a different role and if he refuses (he has too much pride so I know he did), you delay it by a week and give him a send off at casa Milan or milanello and post it on the club’s social media. You don’t just dismiss him like that smh

so, you say you are ok if cardinale starts selling a star player every summer and just keeps the club afloat until he finds another buyer to make a profit?
omg..
And “not being ok” equates to what exactly?

Bitching here?

Maldini is the greatest figure in our club’s storied history.

My greatest criticism of him is that he struggled to adapt to the realities of the modern game.

Cardinale and the Steinbrenners have come into Milan with the knowledge that four key players (Donnarumma, Romagnoli, Kessie and Calhanoglu) were able to walk for a total amount of zero - partly due to Paolo’s belief that the jersey is more important than money.

That belief is something of the past in football, and unfortunately led to Maldini and his team grossly mismanaging the situation.

Another belief that Paolo had was that having the best players on the pitch was more important than having a deep squad. He was very vocal about that.

We engaged in a bidding war with a now-relegated Leeds United and spent over 70% of our budget on one single player, rather than spreading those funds over a number of players with value as opposed to last minute loans and unwanted free transfers.

Even if that one player worked out - he would not have made a difference in helping when our starting defence and midfield was decimated by injuries at points this season.

Two of the deepest squads in Europe will now challenge for the Champions League title, with Inter being able to rely on some skilled-but-old 30+ year olds who were preserved during the season.

I agree with his dismissal, but won’t pass any judgment until I see what the alternative strategy will now be.

Mfer fired Maldini in 2 minutes after sitting with him for 2 days and folks were mad that galliani didn’t give his position to Maldini a decade ago?

Cardinale so cold clown is going to fuck us but we are Milan fans we are his bitches

Nothing suggest they are taking it slow.
Only yesterday we played our last game.

Moncada is here & am sure he has done his scouting homework.
Either he is charismatic enough to pull players or we get another figure like Maldini.
Thats only possibly Ibra

Whats going to happen though when Moncada goes for his players and we still cant close them because SD's dont give us the time of day because he isnt Maldini or Galliani?
Dial the next tier down and then the next one like we have been doing?

We have to hope that the reports of Massara overruling Moncada were true or its going to be an ugly summer.

thats the extent of what you’re gonna do about it
Yep, but at least Ill get to enjoy watching egotistical people trying to defend the ousting of the foremost club legend that brought us back from obscurity, only to be replaced by an innvetible failed project.

I don’t care what I said about Maldini in the past. Even if I believe that he got many things wrong and maybe someone else was better equipped for this role than him, you don’t kick our legend out like a dog. Yesterday’s send off for Zlatan was so classy and today we dismiss Paolo Maldini like he’s nothing smh. This could’ve been handled better.
This is my main pro with it. Dont treat him like that.

That's great.

Apparently if we didn't have Maldini, we would have had Enzo, Muani, and Botman, among other stars.

My expectations are now different. The numbers 3 and 5 no longer have any meaning to me. My basic arithmetic is going to suffer. I will probably start getting many traffic violations.

If we do not win the Scudetto next season, these decisions have been a failure. If we sell Leao, Maignan, or Theo, automatic failure, only mitigated by an immediate win in the Champions League.

I expect to win the Champions League next year or the year after. I also expect to win the next two Serie A titles.

What a joyful person.
I must have missed the memo that said we should be joyful about the sacking of the guy who won us trophies on the pitch and took us out of the banter era.

And you are entitled to that

But you are still going to watch, which means ultimately they care little about what you or I think.

If casuals stop watching, then they will feel it

Maldini will hire a quality coach if he decides to work elsewhere. He’s done with Pioli.
Maldini will never work elsewhere, unless it’s la nazionale .. he said it himself before

This is so unbefitting of our club. It is so unclassy and not the way we do things at Milan.

I’m completely disgusted with this uncultured American who is unfortunately the latest conman in charge of us.

I watched during banter, and it didn't change anything.

If they don't win, casuals will stop watching.

Ibra, Diaz, Maldini, Massara gone. Right now Pioli is untouchable. Even though I think he heavily mismanaged our squad, the team loves him, consider him a father figure. The team is depressed, we will ned him to convince our key players that we are still wanting to build a successful project.

It will be his hardest task ever. Throwing Maldini in the trash is the most disgusting thing I have ever seen regarding my beloved club. I am certian the players feel the same, and they are shocked. Without Ibra and Maldini, the credibility of building for winning trophies suffered a lot amongst the team, the media, and the fans as well.
