Seems like his tactical approach is a good fit for our squad, and that he is almost a natural successor to Pioli's tactics(when they work). Getting him and Zirkzee in a package deal to start a new era would be very exciting.
It would give us more order, but it would also emphasize more passing whilst giving way more defensive structure--my biggest concern would be that Motta doesn't seem to use his fullbacks as much in the attacking phase, based on this breakdown. Perhaps because he doesn't have a weapon like Theo?
Zirkzee's style reminds me of an aging striker who wants the ball more and drops deeper to get the ball because he is now in the MLS.
Zirkzee is a tidy, interesting player. But I see late stage Higuain in his style. If he starts scoring more, then he would be devastating, of course. So you can argue that his style shows that he's mature for his age... or that he's a big fish in a small pond kinda player, I don't watch him enough to know.
The price plays on my mind, as I'd expect a lot for a 40m player. I don't think he's that sort of talent, not yet.
I would either want an Ibra-style player, hence my desire for Scamacca (Ibra if drawn by broken crayons) or I would love a live-wire in the mold of an Aguero. Jovic, if he actually returns to his Frankfurt form would be a good halfway between the two, as Jovic isn't afraid to drop deep and layoff the ball or create space. Zirkzee could be that midway point, but 40m is a lot for him.
Motta seems to make sense, the question is whether he can handle the next jump?
