Tomori presence is a bit risky but he also need some playing time since he will be available for the second game with Roma .

It's called Marotta league officiating.
Some of the yellows that have been given to him don't make sense.

Milan News reports that we've had two meetings with Lopetegui as next coach if Pioli is let go. Supposedly he's a good tactitian and developer of young players. I'm not familiar with him so I ak if he's a good choice for 24/25.

So I digged a bit in the numbers to try and get an overall picture of our midfielders so far. First of all: Our midfielders have very different minutes per game played, so comparing the stats per game seemed a bit unfair to me. That's why I extrapolated all those stats to 90 minutes for each player to have a better base of comparision. It's probably not the most ideal solution, but the most fair I could come up with.

Also, I tried to make it the less confusing I could, but it's a lot of numbers, so...

My take-aways per player:

  • Reijnders is all about quality. He's got the most accurate passes, no matter if it's in the opponents half or overall, if it's a long ball or a chipped pass. Also he leads the table in goals and assists. Defensively he's not as involved as others, despite being played rather defensively for a couple of weeks by Pioli.
  • Adli is the most involved by far in terms of touches per minute, with Bennacer close in behind. No wonders. Diddi a lot of times showed how the most used passing lanes in our game are often times between our DMs in the double-pivot. It's still a bit suprising tho because I expected Bennacer to lead that statistic in terms of per minute. It means to me that Adli really is a player that actively seeks involvement and responsability. Adli excels in tempted passes both overall and in the opponents box, he's also the one taking most risks with longballs and chipped passes. He does have some defensive deficits when it comes to being dribbled past tho. Also, due to his high risk high reward gamestyle, he looses a lot of possession and is the most fouly player of our team.
  • Bennacer is our ball recovering machine and duel monster. That's no news, that's always been his strength despite his little heigh. He doesn't top the list in passes attempted, but he's quite there with Adli and always a little bit above Reijnders. Again, that's probably also due to how he's most of the times our deepest lying midfielder. He does loose balls too easy tho, and his passes have not been as accurate as they used to be. We've seen that this season and it's reflected in the numbers. He gets fouled a lot tho.
  • Musah is a bit behind everyone in almist every statistics. I blame that on Pioli tho because Musah never got to have a long spell in one specific position or role. So he couldn't amass key passes, passes on the opponents half or ball recoveries. He's always had to do one game this or one game that. He needs better coaching. His style is rather physical and tacky, and he likes to dribble too. One thing where he excells is at not getting dribbled past. Also he's the player who loses the least amount of balls when in possession.

100% nepotism.

Ibra is unqualified. Ibra hasn't won shit in Europe. I love him but he is a league leaged. Not ucl legend or europa.
Maybe

Look… almost no RnBers would have picked Motta to coach Milan a couple of years ago… think about that

Ibra may or may not be successful in this role. That remains to be seen

This much is clear

Just revisit Mirabelli saga. A good chunk of that mercato was exactly what commoders were calling for…but he’s a dunce who went for targets that are too “obvious”.

Or when commoders’ suggestions turn to shit - “someone who owns ac Milan should be able to just pay a ‘little more’ to correct those mistakes” or don’t own a Ferrari if you can’t pay for gas - whatever that means

What is hard is maintaining relationships in the ma agement level. Like sporting director roles. The job itself doesn't requires high level technical skills but from an operation point of view, your ability to maintain relationships and make correct investments based on advice from our piece of shit scouting network will be rigorously tested.
Plus you need to play office politics. Need to know how and whom to suck up to.

It's Like investing tbh. Basically us being a poor club during G's post 2010 years, every investment wr made needed to be a hit otherwise we were going to always face huge ramifications. We invested in the wrong players and blew our budget. We almost went bankrupt.

Thank you for your service G.

Thanks for the right up, mang. I do wonder how long balls are being accounted for. Adli and sometimes Bennacer are our only players who play cross field balls. Reindeer never does. Always short, on the ground passes. Like, is a diagonal long pass a chip pass? Again, Adli's lower than Reindeer on that, as well.

Regardless of stats, Adli is our most fundamental player. He's both predictable and unpredictable. Similar to Musah, who always seems willing to run with the ball from nothing. Bennacer is good, but hasn't looked himself. Reindeer is predictable, which is good, but when we need risks taken, he's shite.

I feel like ideally, Adli plays on the left, Reijnders on the right, and we have a DM who can keep things moving from phase to phase.

And where is RLC in this midfield? Off the bench?

Also, and I doubt it will ever happen, but I still want to see Loftus-Cheek tried at striker.

Was just accounting for him, lol. I dunno. I feel like there would be enough games in a season for Adli, Reijnders, RLC, and the DM to play plenty of games. RLC is injury-prone, too, and despite being fit for us thus far, I don't want to rely on him to grind out 90 minutes. He's not that player, at least as a midfielder. Musah is the guy left out (and assuming we sell Bagelther), but even then, an injury or two and Yunus is starting every game anyway.

I wanted Pobega to be tried at CB, and he lasted 30 minutes before going off injured. Obviously Pioli sees potential position changes, it's just with the pressure on him 100% of the time, trying different things outside the context of an injury crisis is unlikely. I think RLC could be really good up front. He has the size and technique, and whether the ball's crossed in or played to feet, he's shown he can finish quickly and well. We essentially play a 4-4-2 with him up front partnering Giroud half the time anyway, especially when we're chasing a result.

We bought RLC for 20M. So far so good , his stats exceeded expectations.
Indeed.
But let's be honest. He is a great squad player, shouldn't be a starter for Milan.
