I would put the whole 2000 Valencia generation in this thread. Some I mentioned already...

Farinos, Killy, Gerard, Angulo, Claudo Lopez, Mendieta...

I wonder what happened to our ex players Jose Mari, Javi Moreno?

Many Spanish talents have been wasted. The most obvious of course is Mendieta. Also Alfonso, Exteberria, and Valeron.

The dutch deserve a mention: Patrick Kluivert, pushed out of Barcelona, forgotten ever since. Zenden is another case as well.

Emmanuel Petit. Since his ill fated move from Arsenal, his career was finished. World Cup and Euro winner, a pony tailed champion.

For me, the best two squads at the turn of the decade were definitely Valencia and Lazio. It's a shame most of these players flopped.

Zahovič, the best player to come out of Slovenia. The Czech also produced a great player apart from Nedved and Rosicky, named Poborský.

Oh yeah, i remember Valeron. Legend on some old football game i had. :D

Jerrel is NOT forgotten!!! My first favourite player, and my all-time favourite Dutch player

Marc Overmars, lol, he played for Go Ahead Eagles not so long ago, he kinda sucked there

Ailton, he used to be awesome striker in Bundesliga, and then he became crap :conf:

Some boy.

Overmars - not forgotten. My mum still loves him.

Caniggia - I remember being there to see him score against Aberdeen on his debut for Dundee. I assume he ended up there because that city is a mecca for people with drug problems and shite haircuts. Then he went to Rangers. Thinking about Caniggia is just a depressing reminder of how far the SPL has fallen in the last decade.

Hasselbaink - Now a TV pundit in the UK. He's great - doesn't shy away from saying, "that was shit; I would've scored." :D

Nwankwo Kanu, what a champion.

kanu.jpg

Boy wonder of the 1996 Olympics. Led Nigeria to the victory with his two sublime goals in the semi final against Brazil, to turn the score into Nigeria's favor.

As usual, joining Inter Merda means bad news. He failed the medical due to heart problems, but instead he didn't give up... he kept his faith in God and also opened the "Kanu Heart Foundation".

He revived his career at Arsenal, scoring all sorts of crazy goals. One incident especially, when they were losing away 2-0 to Chelsea at the 75th minute, and he came on, scored a hat-trick to gift Arsenal the win!

He seriously was a hugely talented player. He still remains an Arsenal fan favorite till this day, in fact he always gets a standing ovation at the Emriates Staduim, and he was voted the 13th in the "Gunners' Greatest 50 Players" poll. Such a shame the heart defect slowed down his progress...

Kanu you are never forgotten! :star:

Speaking of Kanu. One of the best games I have ever seen on an international scene.
