imagine Pirlo scores against his former team and Crudeli says his usual stuff when Pirlo scores..."Pirlooo da Brescia"

That pic :proud: Those were the days, Milan winning the scudetto and Baggio still playing at Brescia :proud:

Glad to see that Pirlo will make a comeback tomorrow against Brescia :D Aaaa, those were the days indeed :) and when we had Rui, Sheva, Seedorf (number 20) and a middle-aged Pippo!

They need to tell him to take shots in advanced position. Just watch how he will piss you off with passin inside the box fro a shooting position.

Playing him in an advanced role is essential, as some of you have said. The deep-lying playmaker role was reinvented using Pirlo at the start of the decade, but I'd prefer if he wasn't restrained by defensive duties in favour of a more dynamic, attacking role. Not necessarily behind two strikers, but at least freed from the holding role in front of the defense. Ambro's passing skills are underrated I feel, he's more than capable of sitting in front of the back four and starting attacks (not necessarily "spraying passes" a la Andrea, but the key to shutting out our midfield has become far too predictable for the opponents).

That's not a knock on Pirlo's defensive skills, they're quite good and if he had the strength and pace of Essien, I would rate him as the most complete midfielder in Europe. He doesn't, sadly, so he must be utilised properly - on the left, right or top of the diamond in our 4-3-1-2, where his attacking qualities will be of more use without worrying about the defense. Prime example is the Catania game, arguably his worst of the season. Fielded alongside Seedorf and Boateng, whose natural attacking instincts saw Pirlo - on one occasion - chasing Maxi Lopez as the second last man. Things like that should be avoided, although Allegri would be stupid not to realise his mistake in that game, especially as he kept bitching about how we're susceptible to counters.

I don't want an Inter-like negative midfield of three defensive-minded players, fuck that. At the moment, however, it's delivering results so the most sensible change would be trying out Pirlo as a trequartista. Although in the long-term, I'd like to see a return to a more flexible midfield; Pirlo, Boateng and two defensive midfielders can work even better, as getting the right workrate is more important than the personnel. Any role that leaves Pirlo free of defensive duties where he's far more prone to losing the ball and sparking a dangerous counter, and allows him to put his creativity to use (and I'll say it again, his technical qualities are inferior to none - not Xavi, not Schweinsteiger or whoever...).

One criticism is that I get the feeling that he lives in his own fantasy world at times, which isn't that far off-the-mark if his facial expressions are anything to go by. Pirlo goes for the spectacular on some occasions when a simple pass to keep the rhythm and possession going could do, but he sees a perfect pass in his head and expects other players to latch on to them. Teammates don't always understand the runs he wants them to be making.

If he is going to play the advance position; Pirlo need to make more runs forward. I like to see him get into the box more often and take a few shot outside the box if he is open. He has a decent long range shot and he should used it more often. Last but not least stop sending Hollywood passes all day long; FFS switch it up.

I liked how we used Pirlo in first half when we scored the goals.. somewhat the LCM role of the midfield 3 but more attacking than AMbro and Rino. Boateng provided so much as AM even though he needs to be a little less careless at times(too many tricks and flicks).

Its a good tactic to use Pirlo back in holding midfield role alongside Ambro and go 4-1-3-2 with a 2+ goal lead. He can retain possession for us and give the perfect balls for the counter.

Wow, while watching tonights match i had the curiosity to see how allegri will be fielding pirlo and i noticed a very interesting note that allegri is very "tacticaly careful". He started pirlo on his usual role as deep lying playmaker and ambrosini as lcm.. but just after we scored the first goal he switched the positions of ambrosini with pirlo, thus providing a more defensive cover with ambrosini in front of defense and played Pirlo in more advanced role in left side of midfield. It lasted until ambro was subbed off for Flamini and Pirlo needed to get back to his usual position.

Kudos to Allegri, its obvious he prepare and study every match on details.

You got it somewhat wrong.
Pirlo was playing LCM from the start of the match and Ambro was in the middle.
After we went 3 goals up they switched and Pirlo went back to his deep lying playmaker role. When Flamini came on it was a direct swap with AMbro at LCM.

No. I'm 100% sure Pirlo started as deep lying playmaker.. and yeah it lasted only for about 5min though because as i said allegri switched their places as soon as we scored the first goal.

It was Ambrosini though who gave the last pass for Ibrahimovic to assist for Boateng ;)

Ohhh yeahh okay fair enough the first 3 mins or so before the goal that might be the case but from the period after the goal to milan's 3rd Pirlo played LCM. A few minutes after the 3rd goal Pirlo was back at deep lying playmaker.

Either ways i loved Pirlo as attack minded LCM even though he got pushed off ball a few times he can adapt his game a little more and he can be lethal provided those assists for Ibra Boa and Robinho's runs with Rino/Flam + Ambro bullying the midfield!

Pirlo started as a deep lying playmaker then switched to the left and then for the rest of the game him and Ambrosini kept switching positions until Flamini came on.

Good game from Pirlo anyway.

Didn't really have to do much last night, kept things ticking and I don't recall him making a mistake. Poor first touch on a couple of occasions but a good performance considering he was out for so long. 'twas great to see him making those forward runs, gave me vivid memories of Rui Costa drifting past players with such ease on the ball.

Kind of torn on which role I prefer for him.

On one hand at lcm, he got forward more, in another game he probably has a goal or an assist (the ball trip, lol) but the movement was good. We are defensively stonger with Ambro really making the deep role his.

On the otherhand, when he's on the side he has a lot less influence on the game and it showed as we still didn't have great fluidity in our passing game until he moved back to a central role.

I still think in an ideal world we sign a player like krasic or nani. A hardworking creative player who floats from wing to attack... use a 4-4-2 w/ flamini, boateng on 1 side.... pirlo and a pure DM central and the winger on otherside. Unbalanced 4-4-2 lippi's italy used.

Holy shit a bear

Good to have him back, was a good performance. Pirlo just came back from the injury, this was his first game since some weeks, he obviously needs some playing time to fully be back in the game, but it was a good performance against Brescia.

Don't be stupid M84, everyone knows that baseless accusations hold more value than actual facts. I'm sure most of those 569 passes were either sideways or back to Nesta and Silva...

He certainly doesn't offer same galactico flair as super sergi:
