Does anyone know the latest on Aquilani's injuries...

I used to follow him when he was in Serie A, I thought highly of him, but I seem to recall him being often injured. Has he put this past him.

By the way if we can get him for 8 mill that would be a steal of a deal in my books.

I agree..aquilani being linked with a move to a club like sunderland is horrible for aplayer like him..he's admitted that he wanted to stay in italy after his stint with juve..I watched most if not all the juve games this season and the ones that aquilani played in he did extremely well considering the team he had to work with..the biggest thing was that he stayed injury free for the most part and people still wanna find things to hate on him..would be very suited to take our LCM role..

Kudos to you. I could never survive watching even a single Juve game.

Aquilani heading to Fiorentina?

Alberto Aquilani may get his wish of staying in Serie A after all, as Fiorentina are tracking the Liverpool man.

The midfielder spent last season on loan at Juventus and made it clear he wanted to remain in Italy, but the Bianconeri did not take up their option to make the move permanent.

Milan, Inter and Roma were also mentioned, but with no clubs willing to buy, he looked to be heading back to Anfield.

However, according to the latest reports in Italy, now Fiorentina have come forward with an offer for Aquilani.

Sky Sport Italia maintain he is the ideal replacement for Riccardo Montolivo, who is looking for a new club after rejecting a contract extension.

Aquilani would again join on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.

Pretty gutted if that news turns out true, because I really want him here. But on the other hand, if he doesn't join us then I'd rather see him in Fiorentina than anywhere else as I have a major soft spot for Fiorentina.

Aquilani on loan would be a good move for us right now, also picking up Montolivo wouldn't offend me... If the Fininvest fine is going to fuck us over, Aquliani and Montolivo do actually address our midfield issues. If we are in the shit financially, those 2 for cheap would be better than no one else coming in!

Just some thoughts, yes Cesc and Pastore would be better, but if we're to maybe see our spending idea's kicked into touch by this fine, there are other, cheaper options out there that can still help us move forward...

I don't see the need in both. Gimme Aquilani, and then forget about Montolivo and focus on an AM and hopefully also an upgrade over Flamini.

And Aquilani on loan? Are you just coming with that by yourself as option now?

I said in the commode that right now Aquilani and Diego on the cheap wouldn't offend me... If our financial plight is grim I'd take them tomorrow and get on with preparing for the coming season knowing we have a better squad than last!

I think your being optimistic if you think we should get Aquilaini, plus a AM and Flams upgrade!!!

Aquliani on loan, Diego on the cheap, plus Sharawaay added to MvB, Prince, Flams, Dorf, Ambro and Gatt is miles better than the midfield we were able to field in the CL, maybe a little workman like, but with Pato, Ibra, Binho and Cass you'd hope we had enough creativity upfront to open defences... The midfield just needs to be a little more fluid, quicker and direct than Pirlo, Gatt, Dorf and Ambro!

Wow just wow..well said Marco..I completely agree that getting aquilani and Diego would be a good transfer Market for me..but it seems like everytime I bring up diegps name on here everyone flips shit and completely goes off the deep end..

They say, well he sucked at juve..that's piss poor excuse..juve had a shitty starting eleven each and every game..added to having a shit coach with no tatics and no sense of his players..I again watched every juve match that year because my bro is a huge juve supporter..and let me tell you guys that for a player to come to Italian football from playing in Germany, he did damn well.

Throw the stats up all you want but he was key in every build up play for the goals they did score..then the haters bring up well he sucked at wolfsburg..another shit excuse..wolfsburg has noone for players and trying to rely on your AM to do everything, isn't going to pan out to well..you can also say he was disruptive to the team and stole the penalty kick from someone against coaches orders..

To sum it up he would work perfectly as our AM with his good movement and his size..solid passer of the ball and works hard all match..added that he's Brazilian that can add to the fetish..

In my opinion there's space for both. Two bargains for players of this level is rare nowadays. I would even consider to ship Urby out on a loan or something.

Montolivo and Aquilani should both come, we need passers... We can't just count on Clarence "Antique" Seedorf...

Emanuelson out :o

Montolivo -- Emanuelson and Paloschi ?

Then we only need... our champ ! F*b*e*a* :star:

true, signing both and an attacking midfielder would be a brilliant move.

I'd agree with this too, right now Seedorf is the only creative midfielder available, having both Montolivo and Aquilani would be very good, as well as a new AM, though my gut feeling on that will be a Kaka Return in late August (loan with option to buy)

I have a feeling that G is just doing this to get montolivo, because fiorentina obviously want aquilani and theres been legit reports about Milan wanting montolivo, so im thinking this is a move so fiorentina can speed it up and sign aquilani and accept Milan's offer.

The two of them joining would be great, but I prefer montolivo, aquilani's history with injuries is too risky, although he seems to be healthy and fit since last season.

Lmao, maybe....

But seriously when Aquilani was at Roma he was extremely highly rated.

yeh, and living in the treatment room, 20million was waaay too much for him, hes talented but he was coming off 2 injury prone seasons.

liverpool got ripped off(yet again)

I haven't seen that much from Aqua, but he seems like a Pirlo copy. How are his defending abilities? Is he static or mobile?

But Diego + Aqua/Monto sound good to me.

He won the most tackles out of Juve's midfield. More than Melo, Marchisio, etc.

He is pretty mobile, as he tends to drift around the field. I would love him here, but surely not as our only signing. IMO, Aquilani>Montolivo.

People have such short memories. Before he went to Liverpool he was one of the main guys that Milan fans on these boards were begging for Galliani to buy. He was excellent at Roma and the sky seemed to be the limit. Some wanted to boot Pirlo out and bring in Aquilani right then. And I'm sure there were some who bitched about Milan being cheap for not outbidding Liverpool for him. He would be a great buy for 10.

Its funny. Right after doing good business for xabi alonso (excellent player but 35 more for him at 28...eh) they squander it. Can someone check I thought they paid closer to 25 for aquilani...

Anyway liverpool is one of few clubs I think would take flamini or urby in a swap and the players would accept. It'd be nice to swap flams for aquilani and urby for montolivo then sign a proper AM... who? I dunno. Pastore seems gone (too bad id love a aquilani mvb, uncle rico, pastore mid with boateng, gattuso, clarence, ambro as options... heck boateng wuld probably start but IMO he'll only grow if he's actually challenged for a spot and has to earn it like last year).

Who else could we get? Ganso, I wouldn't mind but he'd need time to adapt. I can't think of others tbh

20 M Euros plus bonuses (that I suppose Liverpool never had to pay).

EPL clubs overpay for most players. It's very commom to see them paying €20 million (sometimes even pounds) for players that are not more than "good". Crazy...

I think we wouldn't have a midfield as good as Barcelona's even if we had loads of money to spend like crazy, mostly because of Xavi. That guy is good as hell, out of this world, and he's very consistent. Misplaced passes from him are as rare as Inter's CL glories. Having Iniesta, other WC midfielder, beside him just makes it more difficult.

However, we could have a pretty good midfield, even though not the best.

Well playing bartha wed drop a forward for a mid (gattuso). Yeah wed lose some but u simply can't play barca 3 v 3 in midfield. Move aquilani to cam. Have him deeper defending. Probably use robinho as support striker cause he presses best and has highest workrate. It wouldn't be an issue
