He's done very well considering his age and lack of experience, but if anybody has carried our defense then it's Alex.
Yup. Romagnoli has done well considering his age, but Alex has had a better season.

If it's true that Alex will return to Brazil then I hope it will be Paletta to partner with him. Still shocked of that performance against us.

He's 21 and still learning his trade, he'll make mistakes and against strong opposition will suffer at times. The experience gained will only make him stronger.

True, Alex has definitely been great most of the games this year, though Romagnoli was also solid at least for 80% of the games he's played. Let's hope that Paletta is able to fill the shoes next year, considering that Alex seems to be wanting to leave and end his career in Brazil. That said, if Zapata continues playing well, between Paletta, Romagnoli and Zapata we would be in a good position and wouldn't have to hurry to spend money for a central defender (at least not before we fix our midfield that is in critical shape and is top priority)

I agree with you, very important to keep that in mind. He's young and should be allowed to do certain misstakes without writing him off. Through those kind of games and those type of misstakes he'll grow the most. That's a very important process we should let him make without putting pressure on him.

IMO, he has not been at his best (from this season) lately. Romagnoli can become pretty good but needs to get rid off of the Mexes inside of him.

Can't believe someone is mentioning Mexes in the same breath as Romagnoli yet not say that they are at opposite ends of the spectrum of defenders. OMG.

Can't believe some people do not know how to read. Many times when Alessio gets in trouble is because he goes to forwards for the body check instead of going for the ball especially when he has the class and skill set to do so.

this is a good point. it is also a habit that is easily cut out with experience, being a young player and all.

Mexes had some standout performances last year under Pippo of all people lol. Better than anything Romagnoli has produced so far..so yeah.

He's been good, not great. Don't quite get the hype yet, guess it's because he's young.

Romagnoli doesn't make catastrophic mistakes. And in the modern game, finding a defender that doesn't commit huge fuckups is super rare. That Romagnoli has this knack is why he is so prized, in my opinion, especially because he is young and can still grow into getting all the nuances right.

A lot of high caliber teams are willing to content themselves with Zapata-tier players who will defend very well but give away games ever so often because of lapses in concentration or for simply screwing up something basic. If Romagnoli can defend like Zapata on his best days and also be consistently safe and without being prone to errors, then he'll be one of the best in the world. I mean, consider Jerome Boateng, who I think is probably the best defender in the world - why did people grill him for getting massacred by Messi earlier this year? Because he never gets massacred by anyone. He's consistently solid, and his performance ceiling is absurdly high. Romagnoli can get there, he just needs a better coaching staff behind him and a stronger squad around him. This is why Costacurta mentioned today that Romagnoli would become one of the best if he had played alongside him, Maldini, Baresi, Silva, etc. etc.

He is ok, made mistakes (like against zaza) but not many of them end bad for milan. To see if he is anything better than good he needs to get experience and chance to play against top teams in europe because italy isnt really high level what makes hard to judge him.

Very undewhelming for a lot of the season. Not much to write home about.

Obviously wouldn't sell him, as he is super young.
Just hope he can develop into the player we hope he can be.
Jury is very much out on him, though

As if on queue, massive mistake. Went full ****** with the penalty.

 always the way. For what it's worth I agree with everything you said above. Except IMO Silva is still lightyears ahead of Boateng.

Massively disagree, our defence has been decent. Its the midfield and front players who have fucked up

Penalty was not his fault IMO.

Despite his youth & inexperience he has massively improved our defence.

Hasn't been great lately. He needs massive improvement in 1v1 situations, he allows a lot of space for his opponent.

He has had to taken a lot of responsibility in his first season here. I think the season has been long on him. I'd consider giving him a game off as shit as that is.

It's not just him who does this.

Abate and especially Antonelli are guilty of it too.

He's one of the few players that I'm sure we can sell for the full buy price (25 million) without a problem.

He's had problems, although we have to be careful who we put to train him. Brocchi doesn't have the experience to grow players, and we don't have senior players that can guide him (especially if Alex leaves). Mihajlovic was a defender by trade and knew very well how to position defenders.

Despite a few hickup-s here and there, overall his season has been very solid. Even Bonucci fucked up a few times in the past season but nobody cares about it because Juventus kept winning. Unfortunately for us, we are a team where every mistake can cost us a lot which puts a lot more pressure on the defenders.

He had a fab season imo. The last few games won't change that.

But since we ruin young players these days, I fear for his future.
