Listen, all I said was that we shouldn't be immediately labeling Pato "the next Sheva" before he's even played a minute with us. It's akin to labeling an NBA player as "the next Michael Jordan." Did we not learn our lesson from Oliveira? I'm not saying the guy will suck and maybe someday he'll be the best in the world, but let's not raise the bar so high right off the bat.

I'm not entirely sure what Dida has to do with the discussion, but to each his own, I suppose.

edit: never mind, just read the statement on the official site. The great talent Alexandre Pato will train with Milan and will be able to play the friendly matches starting from the 3rd of September 2007. From teh 3rd of January 2008 onwards he will also be able to play in the official games.

so no, no pato for russia or any preseason friendlies.

I'm glad we've signed someone, really I am, but I cannot imagine an 18yr old becoming our main striker.

I see him as a buy for the future, not this season or maybe next.


p.s. I've watched loads of clips of Pato and there's no doubt he has loads of skill, but within the 15 mins of clips I watched, I think I saw about 4 goals.

Does anyone have his official stats? Is he a goalscorer?
