You know, for all the stick Pato gets about he's passing, he's better at it than 90% of the other strikers. His dribbling and first touch is amazing when his mind is focused and his body is in good condition. From a technical aspect, he is a complete striker, but he hasn't improved mentally and this is where a coach steps in the picture.

lets talk about players near his potential and pay level. His passing is better than which striker exactly?Cavani??Benz?? Heck Sturridge??( including players like Heskey,Amauri or Carrol does not consolidate your point) For a player who is always drifting to the right, imagining himself to be a bonafide winger, his passing is farcical. I doubt you would be so willing to jump to his defense everytime if his name was Patovich and from Bosnia. If im wrong, i apologize.

And about his 1st touch, that is what let him down against Inter. Granted, he was rusty. Allegri again failing to stand up to the man.

Our best midfielders are disappearing one by one again.. Just like last year. This will not benefit the team and especially not Pato. God fucking damn it. We might be forced to field T.Silva as a MF again if this keeps up.

You NO Milan fan.

You're talking about yourself and Ibra?

Don't tell other people who they are or what they like.
A little tip on your long road to humility and intelligence.

So many if's and when's in your post.

Sums up 100% of my issue with him. Not his talent or ability.

"IF he's focus'd" "When he's on"....

EXACTLY!
He isn't "in the zone" enough, his injury record is unfortuante ,he's probably due again come to think of it,but still there are many other issues at play, be it Ibra, Barbara, Ronnie or whatever who knows, however the next half of the season is massive for Pato.Personally I'm not saying sell him at this point, but the kid really needs to kick in really needs to focus,(maybe Ibra needs to kick him in the back of teh head for that?)
Anyway it's obviously a very hard situation right now, I just hope he can get his shit together b/c the club needs him.

Again you fail to comprehend what I've been saying on and on, that the ifs and whens don't depend on him only. You simply can't compensate with pure grit if youre being tactically misused or if you get injured all the time.

And since it is a proven fact that he actually can be 'on', cause it happened many times, that isn't really a hypothetical. He needs to have those settings (when he's on) recreated once more, so he would be back on track. Getting the best out of him should have been the priority of this club, but Leonardo and Allegri fucked up.

What let him down against Inter is Inter defending deep and with ten men. I didn't see Ibra with his glorious first touch break them.

As for passing, he's better than most, I don't know in which order I'd rate strikers that can pass, they are all more or less in the same range. Pato is not a great passer but he is competent enough especially in close combo passing. He's a better passer than Cristiano Ronaldo or Higuain I can tell you that.

Can't believe how people actually forgot how devastating a player Pato is when hes in the zone. You people need to watch some Pato videos on youtube to remember how magnificent he can be. He's given Milan many memorable games, I remember the Fiorentina away game last season, it was such a well rounded performance that I rarely get to see from a striker nowadays.

People need to acknowledge the fact that he wasn't developed in the ideal way by Milan and stop blaming him only him. He's been shifted around positions and Allegri has largely ignored his potential, never actually helping him to find his role, because he's only interested in getting the immediate goods. Pato looked on the way to become the best in the world under Ancelotti, and things started going to shit since his departure for Pato. Ancelotti was known to taking care of his players and getting them in the right frame of mind. Leonardo sacrificed him to get Ronaldinho to work and Allegri doesn't even see him as an asset in his typical Italian understanding of the game.

Allegri's system, the teammates (led by Ibra), the league style, the injuries... all of this went against him and he has still shown flashes of brilliance while maintaining a rather excellent scoring record. Its easy to say its all up to him, but in reality it doesn't work that way, there are a dozen factors. He needs support from the fans right now and luck with his fitness.

If somehow Milan still wants to sell him after this season, I hope Madrid take him. Under Mourinho, he would fulfill all his promise and even more. Mourinho knows best how to install seriousness and spirit into a player. It would be a sad thing if a player with Pato's potential really goes to waste in the end.

Great post, it also goes along the lines of what I have been trying to say in the past.

I fear for Pato and Milan, because when I think of Milan, I think of sexy attacking, innovative football, then you have Pato, a young player, who is very unpredicatble (when on form), who really lacks nothing an attacker needs in terms of abilities (heading, shoot with right and left, dribble, play alone, wing or 2 man defence, he could improve his passing), so I feel Milan is blessed to have this player for the team, its a match made in heaven, but unfortunately, Milan is following the wrong route, and moving away from its true identity, Milan is becoming too physical, too direct and very predictable. I wish Pato will be defended by the real important figures at Milan, I really hope Allegri will side by him more often because I like the way Allegri motivates the team, but I fear that he is becoming too cliche.

Sigh... Hopefully it was just a pre-caution removing him from the game. I really hope so.

He'll never progress if he's set back with injuries time and time again.
I'm doubtful, but hopefully this paves way for more El Shaarawy

at least Pato scored today, but he also missed some chances which he normally should convert

and it seems that he's injured again, maybe it was a precaution (I hope so), but if he's injured again he'll be out for some longer

Ambrosini was pissed as fuck when Pato just left the field. Merkel and El Sha played with pain. Novara's Pesce had cramps after 95 minutes and stayed on the field.

Allegri also did not look too happy.

Allegri rassicurando su Pato - Ha sentito un dolorino alla coscia infortunata e ha voluto evitare problemi maggiori uscendo dal campo.

So allegri says pato felt a little pain in his thigh and wanted to prevent further problems.

Dont know what to think really. I can understand if he was afraid given how many times he has been injured. Still pretty shitty to leave your team like that....

If he felt something obviously it was the right thing to do!

It was a italian cup game ffs.

The thing is that he decided on his own, leaving the team in a mess(with El Sha and Merkel already dead on their feet) and apparently Allegri was not too fond of that decision.

Got to agree. Ambrosini, El Shaarawy and Merkel sacrificed pain for team.

If he couldn't run, then he couldn't run. If he dresses for weekends game, i'll be pretty skeptical it was anything other than selfish and weak
