Man, what a mess you made with the news... Reports from December and about the summer window. We're talking about the January saga, specially the day 12 when Galliani was in London in a meeting to get Tevez but it was called off from Italy cause Pato wouldn't go to PSG anymore. From your last link (the only related to the deal): http://www.rossoneriblog.com/2012/01/12/tevez-wont-join-milan-pato-stays/

While, it is obvious that Tevez could have probably deliver us the scudetto, CL was a different animal even with Tevez. Quite frankly, I am kind of happy that we kept pato because if we got Tevez probably bonuses would have killed us. Ibra went from 9 to 12, Tevez was being offered 6 million plus hefty bonuses if we would have obtained the scudetto.

I dont think he could have played in CL (cup tied) and we would still get rid of either him or Ibra or both while possibly keeping Thiago Silva.

Even though I always wanted to keep Pato over getting Tevez, it made sense to get Tevez but given what we know now with Silvio not putting up a dime, the team would be just as it is now maybe with one or two different faces.

Yeah, nothing happened in january. Everyone commented on the deal, from Leo and Carlo to Galliani, Silvio and Pato himself. It was even in Milan official site the classic "Pato resta".

---

I watched this interview though, I don't blame Pato at all. He was simply avoiding the questions about his move to PSG, and he is right on avoiding talking about it by now - nothing good for him will come out of it.

I think Galliani wanted Tevez exactly cause of the summer overhaul.

In January Galliani certainly had a realistic view of what could happen with Ibra and Cassano at the end of the season. He was not so desperately for yet another big wage for yet another forward (and going totally against his own plan of cutting costs)... He was pursuing someone for the post-Ibra, a rock to build the team after the summer changes.

Yeah maybe Carlitos could have changed our fortune in the Scudetto or maybe not, but he would be specially important right now in my opinion. This team would be on another level with him.

honestly, I think Tevez would have forced his way out in summer. I´m afraid he is a person who would let you down in such an scenario.

I do agree if he stayed he would be instrumental right now but with how we slashed salary, could we expect any player north of 4-5 mill to be on the payroll? maybe maybe not.

Would have been an interesting team.

a) No one ever believed we would've won the CL with Tevez, would we have had better chances vs Barcelona? Yes and yes there's a chance to win it, there always is, but our objective wasn't to win it, it was to get as far as we could. A scudetto for us is enough of a reason to say we would've gain from selling Pato.

b) While I'm kinda relieved we didn't get Tevez, whom I believe would've left the club in 1.5 years for free maybe (he would've been 30, so I'm assuming he would've liked to leave to Argentina), and eventually wouldn't have make sense with the transfer approach we took... it's not like Pato is doing it for free. 4 mil or 4.5 mil + bonuses for a guy that's not playing nor is he making any sort of difference is worse than someone that'll make 6 but at least contributes, and Tevez would've had an impact, yes he would've become a headcase eventually, but well...scudetto. Needless to say Pato's value atm has decreased so much, Tevez is still better business than having kept him.

But oh well...what's done it's done.

It's really one of Milan's biggest mistakes since I've been a fan. That one and Dinho for me.

Ugh. I don't even care if he transformed into something better elsewhere, it's a worth while risk you had to take.

and not the rivaldo one?

It is not about winning the Scudetto or the CL last season, but Tevez would have been the cornerstone of this new project. That's what we tried to get in Kaka later, but Tevez would have prevented even that measure.

The guy is at his prime, works extremely hard on the pitch, and is a gifted goalscorer/assister regardless of the stage. An upgrade on Ibra.

tevez is 28 and pato is 23, thats the only advantage pato has over tevez right now anyway. Precisely the reason why i was not convinced with the tevez saga. Tevez imo would have been an ideal replacement for ibra. If we sold ibra and got tevez, who was roughly around the same price, i think it would have been a good deal for us.

Tevez was cuptied. So, I'd say the chances would have been slightly worse.

I watched Pato highlights(Esoesgallo Pato Optimist) during the transfer and got sentimental thinking the block of sale was good. In retrospect it's where everything went wrong. But there's nothing left to do now other than hope Pato will finally get stability and start banging goals for us throughout the season.

Talking of Tevez - he scored his 50th goal the other day and threw his shirt to the crowd and my mate caught it, he's well smug now with his Facebook pic :D

Regardless of goals, a 90 min game where he plays well will be enough for his return.

I cant wait for his return XD

lets ease him in...jesus. imagine us giving him a start...and he gets injured again. it would ruin him. barbara would probably dump him and sell him to chechnya. we would most likely never hear from him agani.

If he recovers in time to play, he`ll probably come on around 65th minute, regardless if we need a goal or not..

I love Pato but you cant really believe that. Pazzini in his first start did something Pato still hasnt (and Pato has had countless opportunities to have 3 and 4 goal games).

Give him time to get up and running and prove he can be a consistent goal machine before you declare him that.
