And about direct rivals. 1. No one should be assured game time. You earn it.

2. Van Bommel and Pirlo didn't play the same position. Pirlo already was LCM and had to compete with Seedorf, not Van Bommel.

3. If you have ambition, you accept a challenge to fight your place. He wouldn't be benched necessary. It depends on Pirlo himself, who simply has been a disappointment in his last years, probably lack of motivation plays an important role.

Obviously Pirlo didn't have the confidence he would be a starter here as much as at Juventus, and that's a very understandable reason for him to join Juventus, especially because of the Euro's. Also because they offered him a longer contract, yet another reason to feel like that club has more confidence in you.

I totally understand Pirlo's decision, and accept it, but I won't accept this lazy ass as Milan legend. Never. An Azzurri legend he is, don't confuse the two, just because he's been Milan player during those years.

Finding one a legend or not seems to be very personal and thus biased, by the way. So whatever, who cares who finds who a legend? We probably all would describe the term differently anyway.

He didnt stand a legit chance in this team. Look at the players allegri uses and likes. Pirlo is nothing like them. Even if Pirlo is playing as he is now , he wouldnt be picked by allegri. Its not a question of quality though as pirlo clearly proved by taking a big dump on our midfield when we have faced them.

Seedorf and Nesta are much much older than pirlo and have max 1 season left. Its different. Pirlo is still playing well and will be a leader in EURO 2012 . If you cant spot the difference in ambition , i can't help you. I wont even talk about players like ambrosini

He plays his best in the centre of the park. Still does so for Juventus and still does for italy. Just think of people like nocerino who play as a mezzala. Does pirlo's game resemble that by any chance? Allegri is very strict about what he wants from each player and frankly pirlo doesnt suit any of our midfield roles. You dont limit a person with a distribution range of pirlo to one side of the park. Its fine for a couple of games but you are shitting yourself to think he would have been a permanent fixture there
