It's kinda hard arguing considering that you edited even your original comment.. That said, I agree ... so far Bertolacci has been an expensive panic buy, hopefully he'll be a lot more than that.

Damn, this was a fine game and he played the full 90 min. Solid both offensively and defensively.

If Bertolacci can't play at least at the level that Kucka is playing right now, it would be a disappointing 20 mill spent.

I am still pised off that we didnt spent 20M wisely...we were mad because of that, not because of kucka signing.

I did... I still think it was a panic buy that somehow so far has turned out to be much better than anticipated.

Now both Galliani and Miha have time to really look at the things calmly and identify what area needs to be strengthened further in January. From the performances so far, I'd sell Poli and Nocerino and loan Jose Mauri and buy one solid CM. Heck I'd get even a player like Constant of 2012-13 that can play CM and fullback considering that in the fullback area we are a bit shitty. Either that or loan DeS and buy a solid fullback ...

In another time we might have switched even Poli to right fullback.

+1, I'm still puzzled by Bertolacci and I truly hope that he's a lot more than what he's shown... even though he had a lot of time to show his skills. Kucka has played only two games and has left scorched earth where he stepped and both times, the direct opponent was forced to give a yellow card.

Witsel is more composed on the ball and a slightly better passer, but Kucka really is better defensively, aerially and is far more dynamic and hard working.

Witsel seems to frustrate me whenever I watch him as he seems lazy and does not use his physical superiorty near as much as he should. For someone with such technique, ball control and composure he really could be a spectacular player if he decided to be. Mentality issue for me, so can see why Galliani was not pushing for the obligation to buy clause.

Yep, i watched a couple witsel games for zenit and i never saw anything special from him in attack. Similar like kondogbia he does more job in defense and midfield (he has more quality than kucka on ball control and passes) but not much in attack (where kucka looks ok).
Would say kucka is more aggressive than witsel.

such a fantastic signing. a great bargain price and exactly the type of midfielder we needed. he does everything well, box to box, has solid skills, and isn't a sissy so he actually works hard and helps with some needed strength in midfield.
