Since they won't pay big bucks and it's pointless to bring inexperienced players like Ricci because they'd just be riding the bench most likely.

Why not go for low-cost veterans who at least have good understanding of the game? Doesn't have to be sexy, someone like de Roon (can cover for CB as well, like someone mentioned earlier) would do just fine to bridge the gap for rest of this year and EL until we have more funds/options to look at in the summer, potentially new manager as well.

Getting rid of Pioli will massively improve the midfield, though. He has no idea how to organize/manage a midfield without it just being Kessie-Tonali/Bennacer
