with Liverpool paying 150m for Wirtz and 50m for Kerkez, we could have marketed Reijnders and Theo to Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea just to see their market prices before we accept the first bid City comes in with. Even Aston Villa/Spurs would be interested in spending 80-90m on Reijnders as he is a Dutch NT, plays deep and contributes to goals.

Theo for 25m is a much better move for Liverpool than Kerkez at 50m.

I will not get why we are selling Reijndres for too low. Theo & Maignan I get, and I would love to renew their contracts for 2 years with a minor raise. That way we get them for one more year and they can get a better price now that their contract doesn't expire next year, but will the players want that?

Do you guys think Allegri was a decision made by Tare? or a decision made by the previous management and Tare just had to 'accept'?

So far the first moves done since appointing Tare officially:
- Signed Allegri (for me this was a terrible decision that will take years to recover from, similar to Fonseca)
- Sold Reijnders for 65m (yes plusvalenza, but could have easily asked for another 50% on top, IMO very bad move just because of price)
- Modric (good bet, remains to be seen how he will acclimatise to Serie A)
- did not give in to Roma's demands for Saelemaekers (good move)
- did not renew Walker (good move)
- all the following squad leaders are linked with exits Maignan (Chelsea), Theo (Hilal / Atletico), Reijnders , Leao (Bayern)
Because these players were made leaders, we performed badly. Glad they are all leaving.

Not their fault, if they play alongside real leaders like Giroud, Kjaer, Ibra, things would be different this past season.

I don't care who we sell or who we buy as long as we do it fast, I want 95% of the squad to be here day 1 of pre season, waiting to make signings late fucks us every year.

Get the squad together and start building towards a big campaign.

Just imagine the money you'd make if you brought back Maldini and released a limited edition #3 kit

These Americans don't even America good.

Don't even announce it. Shadow drop it. Have him appear at San Siro wearing the kit.

Just saw Burnemouth is interested in Lucumi and is offering 15m for him, where apparently asking price is 22. Why are we not on this? Lucumi was one of the best CBs in the league this past season. Guy's a beast. I'd love to have him or Hien to pair up with Pavlovic. Buy Leoni as well.
Pavlovic, Lucumi/Hien, Leoni, Gabbia as CBs is more than good enough.

Out for a walk.
Modric is not a B2B. He’s a regista and a mezzala. He is similar to Xavi, Pirlo but also to Seedorf and Iniesta.
You're just giving me Italian word salad.
Just because he defends does not make him a box-to-box mid. Xavi also knew how to defend and so did Xabi Alonso, neither of them B2B mids.
Xabi Alonso wasn't for most of his career, but you could argue Xavi was for the majority of his career. The same goes for an old head like MVB. He was a box-to-box for most of his career up until the latter stages where he played as a defensive midfielder, often by himself.
Box to Box mid = Marchisio, Vidal, Gerrard, KPB when he was playing in midfield.
Box to box midfielders are not solely destroyers. This skewed understanding of what role they serve is why some people can't stand Fofana because they think he must be some hard nosed psychopath. He's not. He's a pretty standard box-to-box midfielder who is often defensive, but only on account of his physicality, because he played best for us when he did not have the most defensive responsibilities. We looked the most fluid as a team last season when Fofana partnered Terracciano, with Reijnders ahead of them. Filippo allowed Fofana to play, who in turn allowed Reijnders to play.

Besides, that many box-to-box midfielders are quite technical is why many play in the half spaces or even on the wing in formations like the 4-4-2. Modric started his career as a LM until being played deeper, but even then, when he was with Tottenham it was still fairly rare for him to play in a two. He'd very often play in the half space on the left. Marchisio did this, KPB did this, fucking Nocerino did this that random season Allegri pulled the rabbit out of his ass. Each box-to-box midfielder has different qualities, and are of different quality overall. That Modric is one of the best midfielders of all time doesn't mean he's not a box-to-box, it just means words begin to lose meaning when you are just that good.
B2B refers to mids who are more stamina oriented and run up and down the pitch with or without the ball. B2Bs are engines not conductors.
Modric is incredible because he's both. He's a unique player. It's hard to argue Modric isn't a box-to-box midfielder when he has played in over 1,250 professional football matches, consistently creates the most and disrupts the most, and covers the most ground - season after season.

He's special. But he's not really what we need from a technical standpoint. If we continue to refine our squad, this likely changes, but we're fools to rely too much on a player profile like Modric's. We need a defensive midfielder. Until we solve this problem, I think our teams will always look disjointed and disorganized, particularly if we retain players like Theo, Leao, etc. who aren't system players.

Don’t give them any idea they will do second step without the first one.

He is very error prone as well. He is in my mind similar to Pavlovic and a lesser extent Tomori.

Not sure he would be an upgrade here to what we already have

I’ve never seen Ricci play but having lived through the banter era, my fodd-ar is extremely well tuned. Ricci screams average Italian fodder to me.

Danger danger, stay away, my foddar says to me when I think of Ricci

Depends

He is ok if partnered with a creative player and say Rabiot

Then yes it wa good functional midfield

I am not ok if it’s just rabiot modric and ricci. We need one more creative player then.

Rovella is much better and stronger than ricci
Fagioli is probably better too. So is our ex Milan player who is now playing DM role at rube and captain.
