isnt it normal to go into debt??? when the glazers took over at Utd they put them in major debt, then they funded the transfers which added up to like £60m or more so further debt but yet look it brought success and im sure they are well on their way to paying off the debt - plus we havnt spent big for like 3 years now and with our successful runs in the cahmp league over this period we should be really well off i would have thought but apparently not :head: :conf: :conf:

I just heard we were linked with Maggio from Sampdoria and I can say that I am very pleased with this link.

I think we should get:
- Zambrotta
- Maggio
- M. Gomez
- Frey or Amelia
- Canini

We already have Flamini and Borriello so with these signings we could have Zambrotta and Janku on the left, Maggio and Oddo on the right, Nesta and Kaladze in the center being backed up by Canini and Bonera. Basically thats an awesome defense, and IMO the best around.

Then in midfield we would have Gattuso, Pirlo, Ambro, and also Flamini, Emerson, and I am praying we replace Brocchi with anyone because Brocchi is a waste of space (I hear we are linked with Sammarco from Sampdoria as well for Brocchi's replacement)

Then for Attacking midfielders we would have Kaka and Seedorf to back him up

Then we should run 2 attackers. We would have Mario Gomez, Pato, Borriello, and Inzaghi. And remember, we can always move Kaka up to second striker and have Seedorf play the trequarista role as well. To me, Gomez would be the ideal partner for Pato.

I don't think that anyone of these purchases would be too bad besides the Mario Gomez signing and possibly Frey or Amelia, so I think that this is very doable and definitely the best way to make our squad the best out there.

Milan Fans Hope Maggio Gets Number 5 Shirt

Fans of AC Milan are hoping the club's possible new purchase Christian Maggio gets the number 5 shirt in order to remind Inter fans of May 5th 2002, the day they infamously lost the Scudetto on the final matchday.

At the moment you can't really say the Milan fans have much to brag about to their cross-town rivals Inter. Their European record may still be light years better than Inter's, but in the league the Nerazzurri have distanced the Rossoneri by more than 20 points for two consecutive seasons.

But now they seem to have a chance to play a nasty 'joke' on their rivals. Milan seem set to buy winger Christian Maggio from Sampdoria, and now the fans want to make sure he wears the number 5 shirt. They are allegedly even willing to sign petitions to make it happen.

Why, do you ask? Well, Maggio means May in Italian, and 5 May 2002 is a very famous date for followers of Italian football. Inter suffered one of their most dramatic defeats ever as they lost 4-2 to Lazio on the last matchday of the season and effectively handed the title to their bitter rivals Juventus. Had they won, Inter would have ended a thirteen year wait for their 14th Scudetto, which eventually came in 2006 after the Calciopoli scandal.

GK-probably wont come. Kalac + Abiatti our choices. Not so bad as Kalac made some great saves this season. Although he made some mistakes he was quite reliable. Abiatti had a great season with Atletico. I hope he can continue like this next year.

CB-I hope Marquez wont come. I would love to see Zapata in Milan jersey.

AM-probalby wont come. If we play with 2 strikers we have Kaka and Seedorf on that position. I think a striker and AM wont come together. One of them I believe will come.

ST-Borrielo already came, so now only one must come. I am cheering for Mario Gomez, who would cost us around 20-25 mio EUR. He would be great partner for Pato and his qualities are really high. I wouldnt mind Drogba/Etoo/adebayor/huntelaar too.

FORZAAA!!!

Yeah, we've been linked with mainly Zapata and Canini to back up for our current CB's. Also yes, we have been linked with Gomez for a while and he is definitely a monitored target of ours.

With zambrotta coming in our defence is looking better. But certainly the work is not over. If maggio comes it would be another fantastic signing. There is also the need of a young CB. I read a few days ago about our interest in the very promising defender canini  . along with lino marzoratti this kid is gonna provide our defence , the necessary injection of youth :devilsmo:

MILAN - Official! Gianluca Zambrotta is a new Milan player.

Born in Como on 19 February 1977, the new Milan full back started out playing in his home city. Initially employed as a winger, Zambrotta made his professional debut at age 17, with Calcio Como, where he played for three seasons, from 1994 to 1997, in Serie B and C1.

His Serie A debut came on 31 August 1997, after his passage to Bari, against Parma. His stay in Apulia lasted for two seasons, durig which Zambrotta made 59 appearences and scored 6 goals.

Then, in '99, his passage to Juventus: there Juventus experimented playing him as a left back and it turned out to be a winning bet, as Zambrotta grew to become one of the best players in the world in that role. With the Bianconeri he played for seven seasons.
In the summer of 2006, after the chaos of 'Calciopoli', he leaves Italy and joins Frank Rijkaard's Barcelona. The Blaugrana's coach employed him mostly as a right back. With the Spaniards Zambrotta played a total of 58 games, scoring 3 goals.

A regular starter for the Azzurri, with Italy Zambrotta has made 71 appearences, scoring twice. The debut came on 10 February 1999 in Italy-Norway 0-0. Zambrotta participated to the World Cups of 2002 and 2006, and the Euros of 2000 and 2004.

In 2006 he was crowned world champion in Germany. With him, 5 Milanisti: Gattuso, Pirlo, Inzaghi, Nesta and Gilardino, plus Oddo who would become a Rossonero after a few months. His contribution to the World Cup was fundamental, and Fifa elected him as one of the best player in the tournament. He also scored a goal in the quarter final against Ukraine (3-0), and provided the assist for the third goal by Toni. Also memorable was his shot that hit the crossbar in the semifinal against Germany. Aside from the victory, he also received a special honor: the honorary presidency of Como Calcio.

In his personal trophy cabinet, he can boast: with Juve, the Scudettos of 2002 and 2003 (as well as those of 2005, revoked by the sports justice, and of 2006, later assigned to Inter), and two Italian Supercups (2002 and 2003): with the Bianconeri he also lost the Champions League in Manchester against Milan in 2003; with Barcelona he won one Spanish Supercup. And, obviously, the World Cup, with the national team.

At the moment, Gianluca Zambrotta is preparing to face the European adventure in Austria and Switzerland with the Azzurri shirt.

Galliani reveals Scudetto spending Saturday 31 May, 2008

Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani has confirmed that the Rossoneri will spend big ahead of next year's Scudetto bid.
Milan finished fifth this season and, combined with exiting the Champions League at the second round stage, will not participate in Europe's premier club competition.

Their disappointing campaign has led some to call for an overhaul of the current squad, but Galliani believes three or four new faces will suffice.

“It is important that we hold on to the players we have and look to reinforce in all four departments,” said Galliani.

“In goal,” he observed. “Valerio Fiori has left and Christian Abbiati has returned, while Serginho and Cafu are no longer part of the defence.

“We are looking for a wing back, like Gianluca Zambrotta. We will learn whether or not he will arrive in the next few days.

“In central midfield we have lost Yoann Gourcuff, who is on loan at Bordeaux, but have added Mathieu Flamini.

“Likewise, in attack we have brought Marco Borriello back. He scored more goals than Juventus' new signing Amauri this season.”

The transfer guru added that Milan have freed up quite a lot of capital from changes in the management of the club and sale of players.

He also unnervingly revealed that the Rossoneri's failure to qualify for the Champions League has hit the club hard financially.

“It is difficult to arrive at an exact figure and it will depend on how well we do in the UEFA Cup.

“But I believe it will leave us £15m in debt over the next two years. Every Italian club is in the red, there is no risk.”

Where the hell does he confirm this, we are £15mil in debt for the next two years does that mean we will keep this squad for another 2 seasons.

he also says we have freed up alot of capital from players sales such as gila and oli and changes in the management so why dont we spend that on a quality striker, a keeper and a defender.

gallaini talks way too much hes always promising but never delivering.

Galiani also mention sth ab Sammacro right? does it mean we will bring him back to Milan???

We have done extremely well in the transfer market. Signed one of the best defensive midfielders and wingbacks in the world and a player who with one game remaining in Serie A was the Capocannoniere.

Zambro is a good player but haven't we learnt anything from our CL defeat, 31-year old players don't hold it on for another 5 years, only Maldini can perform that stunt.
Dossena was a much better option on my eyes, at least for the left side, I haven't saw much of him but he impressed me when we played Udinese and Zambro has been poor at Barcelona. Against Schalke (game I saw in the stadium) he was really poor, he was like a mummy on the pitch.
The only thing I can pray for is that we get Zapata, Gomez(good striker that we can really use) and a good replacement for Kakà and a world-class goalkeeper.

By the way, what is happening with Cigarini because isn't Parma going to the Serie B ? I don't think that the future Pirlo would like a year in Serie B and it looks like nobody is linked with him.

Vargas: Rumours Are Not For Real

Catania’s Juan Manuel Vargas insists that he has not moved to Real Madrid despite reports claiming the contrary.

The Rossoblu left-back has been in stunning form ever since his arrival from Colon de Santa Fe two years ago.

The Peruvian has attracted interest from several big European clubs including Juventus, Real Madrid, Milan, Fiorentina and Roma but the player has revealed that the Real Madrid news is just transfer talk.

“The reports claiming I am a Real Madrid player is just a load of speculation and there is no truth in them,” said Vargas.

“I will say it once again, when there is something concrete and when I sign for someone then I will let everyone know about it.”

Catania’s ‘Roberto Carlos’ has been superb this term and he is arguably Serie A’s best left-back.

Vargas is still unsure over his future but he is likely to leave the Sicilian side and Fiorentina are ready to pounce for his signature. The Viola are currently bolstering their squad as they prepare for the Champions League and they have made enquiries over the player recently.

Fergie Plots Benzema Swoop

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is preparing a £20 million bid for Lyon striker Karim Benzema as he looks to secure the youngster's signature before the start of Euro 2008.

The likes of Chelsea, Barcelona and Real Madrid have all been linked with the 20-year old, who is one of Europe’s most promising youngsters after again impressing this campaign, firing twenty goals as Lyon claimed their seventh consecutive league title.

Ferguson, who has become increasingly frustrated with Louis Saha’s injury problems this season, is now set to move for Benzema within the next week to avoid having to pay more should the youngster impress for France this summer.

If The Red Devils fail in their bid to land the player already dubbed a new Bleus legend in France, Ferguson has a shortlist of forward candidates which includes Tottenham Hotspur’s majestic striker Dimitar Berbatov, Sevilla’s Fabiano and West Ham United’s Dean Ashton.

The 66-year old has been handed a hefty transfer budget by the club’s owner Malcolm Glazer, an amount that could be made all the larger should Cristiano Ronaldo opt to leave Old Trafford for Real Madrid within the next three days.

galliani has said that we will only buy one more player that being a striker, i wanted a young CB but we will have to wait until January or next summer, up-front we are linked with alot of players i want either benzema, berbatov, huntelaar, gomez or eto'o, out of all them galliani has confirmed that gomez and benzema are on the list but benzema is definitely a no-go hes way too pricey i would pay it but our club wont, gomez is good but i dont think we'll get him, eto'o is also on the list but barca want £40mil for him i rate him at £25-30mil but we still wont pay that so maybe only sheva will arrive.

you should know he always bullshits.

we have abbiati, zambro, flamini, borriello. 4 so far and hopefully one more striker.

Finally, Galliani spoke again about the identikit of the world class player that Milan are searching for: “It’s very probable that he’s more of a striker than an attacking midfielder. However, the important thing is that he’s world class on the pitch, not just in the name. Think about Rivaldo and Kaka: the first one arrived as a world class player, but after a year he wasn’t like that anymore; the second one arrived not as a world class player, but he became so on the pitch in the space of one year.”

That means he's talking bullshit, winning time and giving us false hopes and a few days before the end of the campaign we will be getting Sheva or Vieri.

your probably right hes been giving us false hopes for the past two years, we clearly need a new GK, young CB and a striker because borriello isn't good enough to lead the line.

i just hope this time he lives up to his word and gives us a top-quality striker.
