gent admits Fiorentina deal done for Catania's Vargas
tribalfooball.com - June 04, 2008

The agent of Catania defender Juan Vargas says he's on his way to Fiorentina.
Gustavo Ghezzi said: "Fiorentina and Catania, as you know, have settled things among themselves for Vargas. Now lacks only the signature of the player, which I think will happen shortly when he returns to Italy after playing for Peru.

"He will undergo a medical and then everything will be okay. Lacking only the final details."

BAYERN-Podolski, definitive break-up
05.06.2008 01.40 by Eddy Akoglu read 92
The relationship between Bayern Munich and German forward Lukas Podolski sems to be over. According to latest rumours, the young German international has decided to leave following a disappointing season filled with too many with highs and lows as well as not enough playing time. Two clubs are interested in Podolski : his former club, newly promoted FC Koln (where he blossomed before joining Bayern) and Manchester City (who announced Mark Hughes as new manager yesterday).

didnt galliani say we were interested in podolski?

Why do people assume that management are simply sitting on their asses and twiddling their thumbs just because we don't sign a player that is a favorite of a select few on the forums? Come on.

pretty sure most publcations listed him as best lb in 2007-2008 in serie A. he's 23 and not expensive....seeing as its a position of need you'd figure we'd be linked

(Gazzetta dello Sport)

Every day we are linked with diferent striker. I wouldnt mind adebayor but there are better options too. especially for that amount of money. But he IS big, strong, can hold up the ball, good with head, nice shoot etc.

and to a degree thats true, but he doesnt have mroe than 2 years in him. So 10 mil for 2 possibly productive years. where as 20-25 mil can get us 8-10 productive years (huntelaar)

lower salary too.

i just dont get it. Its not cheapness, its bad business. Spend 10 mil on sheva. in 2 years buy another player and then another. Meanwhile we coul get a guy at double the cost entering his prime
maybe yes, maybe no. in that case i prefer to bring both:D:D
and when cheva played in chelsea, he played good.

i agree. adebayor is not world class. and we dont need average striker. for 40m we should get adebayor and fabregas (+ maybe someone else)

Cause they are signing mostly players that noone is interested in (Zambrotta), which needs quite less effort than trying to lure a player that ambitious clubs like Fiorentina, Palermo and such are interested in (Amelia, Vargas).

So, yea, they are not the most active management, even if the club needs it in this current situation.

The fact that we've haven't been interested in other people's targets doesn't mean we haven't been active. At the start of a transfer season you outline your club's targets and look to get them, whether or not they're wanted by others depends on other clubs.

Juventus were also interested in Flamini, yet we got him, and we got him before the season had even finished. The fact that we didn't get Vargas or Amelia is mostly down to the fact they weren't really of interest to us. You're thinking of positions we need but if we signed every player we kept tabs on we'd have in the region of 100 players or so.

40Mio Euros for Adebayor? For this amount of money we get Huntelaar and Villa. And one of them would score 15+ goals in serie a...

I know it's from **************.com, but i like the idea of signing Zapata...

'Lyon open to sale of ben Arfa"

with arsenal snatching nasri.... THIS is a signing I think would suit us well

Come on it makes too much sense for our management to pull the trigger on a move of this nature. Not to mention he's French & young. Management would look at this like Gourcuff part deux. :o

This ain't happening.

adebayor already sed hes staying at arsenal and he would rejct us anyway cause he wont want to leave the club that easily beat us to join a club in uefa cup , that is what i think anyway and as u sed hes not world class hes just athletic and good in the air
